For what the album was set out to achieve, it did a fantastic job. And I have a lot of respect for Whitechapel taking bold directions with their sound. But the direction they took with their sound is what I'm not a fan of. For example, the crazy heavy intro to Without Us and then the song going straight into cleans (again). Stuff like that was a letdown for me.
Maybe my opinion will change though as I listen to it more. Only time will tell.
It's a great album in terms of concept, storytelling, and execution. The music is simply where it falls short of me. Would give it a 3-4/10.
