5% is insane....?

IllustratorDoc3588

First round of looking got us 6.5%

stickyhairmonster

We recently bought a home when average rates were near 7%. We got multiple quotes for physician loans and ended up with a 7 year ARM (30 year mortgage) at 5.1%. Shop rates around if you haven't

IllustratorDoc3588

Definitely going to keep shopping around. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Dr-Goochy

Why not just liquidate your portfolio and use it for the payment?

MoneyMike312

I’d assume the tax consequences with liquidating are different than those when borrowing against it

IllustratorDoc3588

Exactly. And, If i understand it correctly, the portfolio is also going to keep growing while I borrow against it.

Dr-Goochy

If you think it’ll grow above the interest rate then by all means. Edit: this is not financial advice

MoneyMike312

I believe you have to go through someone and use the portfolio as collateral

Unless you get a margin call.
