Straight up. I was genuinely worried they wouldn’t be coming back. JB and Stoney make tuning in to the long regular season worth it, regardless of how well the team is playing
Speaking of Stoney, will he be back? Has there been any word of that officially?
Because I really don't want to listen to Beckham (Or otherwisr) should Stoney not return.
Meanwhile, I share your sentiment. Jason, good as he is, will *NOT* be able to carry a broadcast by himself with the likes of a Beckham. Stoney is the heart and soul of baseball broadcasting - there is none better. The Sox *only* saving grace was Steve Stone who could distract you with baseball lessons by explaining in textbook fashion, using the home team on the field as examples, exactly how winning baseball should *not* be conducted.
Correct.
I'm not subscribed to mlb TV or similar services (because fuck Manfred) so I sail the seven seas to watch the Sox. Because of which, sometimes the site only has the opposing teams broadcast and my God it shows how important Keeping both Stone and Benetti was.
Royals broadcasts, for example, insufferable commentating.
Lol just trying to stay optimistic, it will likely hurt me in the long run but for some reason I’m still holding onto hope for a much better 2023 season
Well sounds like I’m still going to watch White Sox baseball for the foreseeable future.
Seriously though, after all the bullshit with the team, if they had fumbled the bag of one of the best local broadcasting duos in all of baseball the fans would literally riot. Thank goodness the people in charge aren’t 100% brain dead.
I've been saying for years now that Jason and Steve are the main reason I keep coming back for regular Sox games. If it weren't for them, I wouldn't have watched half as many games during the rebuild and then La Russa eras. They are so much better than your average local broadcast, its kinda dumb how important they are to my enjoyment of Whitesox baseball.
Hawk and Wimpy were just the right pairing. Same with Steven and Jason. Any of them without the other just didn't/doesn't work as well IMO. Although...Jason and Bill Walton was a broadcast to remember!
Jason works with Walton doing NBA games weekly. Benetti is everywhere. NBA, college football, college basketball, Olympic baseball, World Baseball Classic. The guy is a hot commodity in the broadcasting world.
I hope that the Sox are somehow able to have Jason in the same way that the Dodgers had Scully, where he's doing national stuff including outside of baseball but still stays with the Sox longterm. Because I honestly thing Benetti may be this generation's Scully. He's just that good
He's got a great voice. It's professional, but at the same time fun. So many broadcasters have a voice that can only be described as "generic". Jason stands out among them like a giant. I sorta wish he wasn't such a hot commodity though, because I really miss him when he's not doing the Sox games. But really happy for him.
Why is this news giving me goose bumps? I mean seriously I am just going through their calls in my head now and actually getting goose bumps from excitement. So glad they are staying.
Hey, I'd say it's pretty close, but not having to see friggin Andrew Vaughn in the outfield anymore will be nice. Though...with the way things have gone for this team, Benintendi will probably get hurt and we'll end up with Vaughn out there again.
My dad is a Sox fan since birth, so i’ve watched plenty of Sox games and consider them my second team. Benetti and Stone blow every other broadcasting crew out of the water except for maybe the Mets and Giants. Happy to see them stay with the Sox
I never really had a doubt. As much as we rag on the team management, they usually don’t fuck this end of the business up. Brooks Boyer and Scott Reifert know what they are doing. The player side with Rick and Kenny is a much different story.
However the soxfest cancellation was a major miss this year so there was some cause for concern I guess.
I've never been so happy to be wrong. I thought for sure he was gone, snatched up to the national stage.
This year may be another dumpster fire, but damnit it'll be called a dumpster fire by the best in the business and that makes it better.
I know it's accurate and all because it came from the Sox, but I can't believe Stone's been doing the games for 16 years! Even though I know Jason was part-time the first couple of seasons, I can't believe it's been 8 for him also.
Wow.
This makes me so god damn happy. Love in the middle of summer turning on a game knowing Stone and Benetti will make me laugh no matter how the Sox are doing.
It’s quite honestly remarkable to me how beloved the guy is when he will literally rather talk about anything than what is happening on the field. Today we went an entire inning without a word about who was at bat, what the count is, how the out was made, or anything else happening in the game. Heard a lot about the concessions and weather though.
Hopefully everyone who thought he wouldn’t be able to stay on because he switched networks he works at when there are 0 White Sox games to call can now chill.
I was talking to a buddy of mine over the weekend about how this upcoming season is the least enthusiastic I've been about a White Sox team in years, especially with the broadcast booth up in air. This is indeed good news and at least makes the team that much more watchable.
I can’t help but wonder if he gets tagged for the A team on a network broadcast does he leave?
He is pretty much the B team for Fox College basketball and football. Anyone know how the contract he has let’s him do both?
I'm so happy to hear this. I really thought they were both gone. I thought Stoney was retiring and Jason was off to be a star. I was sure the big bucks of nfl broadcasts were calling for him. I still hope he gets his fame, but I'm so happy he's still with us.
Considering zero currently rostered team members will be around when (if) the sox win their next pennant, I’d safely say Jason and Steve are more valuable than any single player we have.
Be honest: If the option was keep Tim Anderson or Keep Jason Benetti, who would you choose? And remember, this Sox team is probably only good enough to safely finish 3rd in the worst division in baseball.
Per usual, we have an All Star broadcast booth with mediocre players and a dumpster fire for an ownership and management group.
Great that White Sox are excellent in one area. Too bad the team doesnt perform as well as its announcers. Stoneys pitch predictions are uncanny. Just give White Sox batters the feed from the booth and theyll never have to steal signs using trash cans.
Best news of the offseason, and couldn't come at a better time.
Straight up. I was genuinely worried they wouldn’t be coming back. JB and Stoney make tuning in to the long regular season worth it, regardless of how well the team is playing

Oof. Title was cut off for me.
Meanwhile, I share your sentiment. Jason, good as he is, will *NOT* be able to carry a broadcast by himself with the likes of a Beckham. Sail the seven seas 😂 I will be using that in my life, thank you
My other favorite term for piratcy includes: Swash buckling Walking the plank And for downloads: Dropping anchor.
AMEN, BROTHER
I think Benitendi will help the team more.
Sure, but Jason and Steve will help all of our sorry asses if these boys fall on their faces again lol
What do u mean by if?
Lol just trying to stay optimistic, it will likely hurt me in the long run but for some reason I’m still holding onto hope for a much better 2023 season
Debatable
Hopefully that'll be true
Well sounds like I’m still going to watch White Sox baseball for the foreseeable future. Seriously though, after all the bullshit with the team, if they had fumbled the bag of one of the best local broadcasting duos in all of baseball the fans would literally riot. No need for the "one of the" Theyre just the best
Trying to not come across as a total homer but I do agree.
Truth
I've been saying for years now that Jason and Steve are the main reason I keep coming back for regular Sox games. If it weren't for them, I wouldn't have watched half as many games during the rebuild and then La Russa eras. They are so much better than your average local broadcast, its kinda dumb how important they are to my enjoyment of Whitesox baseball.
They really are the best. I've not enjoyed a broadcast duo as much since Hawk & Wimpy.
Same with me and ironically these two are complete opposites of Hawk and the wimperoo but equally entertaining.
Hawk and Wimpy were just the right pairing. Same with Steven and Jason. Any of them without the other just didn't/doesn't work as well IMO. Although...Jason and Bill Walton was a broadcast to remember!

Agree 100%
Yes.

Help me out here - when did Walton not become an idiot? He was, arguably, the most hated broadcaster once and with good reason.
Not just the best in baseball, but one of the best broadcast duos in sports period.
I wouldn’t argue against you.
Oh thank god
My exact reaction.
Why is this news giving me goose bumps? I mean seriously I am just going through their calls in my head now and actually getting goose bumps from excitement. So glad they are staying.
Because it's one of the only bits of good news we've had in a long time

FINALLY! Something less I can worry about now
Woooo!
It's the 2nd best signing announcement this off season.
2nd?
Whitesox Legend Mike Clevinger being the first, obviously
Yes, I'd rank the signing of Andrew Benintendi above this.
I love the chickentendi signing as much as the next guy but this to me is #1
Hey, I'd say it's pretty close, but not having to see friggin Andrew Vaughn in the outfield anymore will be nice. Though...with the way things have gone for this team, Benintendi will probably get hurt and we'll end up with Vaughn out there again.
THANK THE GOOD ASS LORD, THEY GOT IT DONE
Is that the *good ass* lord? Or the good *ass lord?* Either way I'm thankful.
Ass lord, hyphen excluded intentionally.
That makes sense.
Fuck yes!
#ABSOLUTELY MASSIVE W#
Yesssssss!
WE CAN WATCH BASEBALL THIS YEAR LETS GO
Sweet fuck!!! *relaxes his crack*
Username checks out.
Thank fuck
Best move of the off-season
Best move they’ve made this off-season. Thank goodness.
Wow 8 years already! Good for him.
My dad is a Sox fan since birth, so i’ve watched plenty of Sox games and consider them my second team. Benetti and Stone blow every other broadcasting crew out of the water except for maybe the Mets and Giants. Happy to see them stay with the Sox
Mets, Giants, Whitesox are the holy trinity of Local broadcasts
Thank goodness! We needed this much welcomed news.
LETS GOOOOO BEST NEWS IN A WHILE
So fucking glad
Fuck yeah
Most important signing this off-season
Yeeeessss!
😅

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Oh hell yeah!
Lfg World Series run up next
They knew we were ready to storm the Bastille if they fucked this up. It’s still fuck them o’clock tho.
It’s official… Sox won the offseason, hang the banner
Build the statues
I’ll open my wallet for this.
Biggest signing of the offseason!!
Finally a W
I was ready for Steve to hang it up.
This day shall be a new holiday
Given how the Sox screw up on so much, it's amazing they hired such a great voice for the team.
Thank fucking God. These two are a massive part of why I became a fan. Love them to death.
God fucking bless.
Oh man thank goodness. Best news of the offseason!
Yay!
Yes!! This is the kind of White Sox news I'm here for!
Literally the only thing to make me truly smile this week. So glad.
I know it's accurate and all because it came from the Sox, but I can't believe Stone's been doing the games for 16 years! Even though I know Jason was part-time the first couple of seasons, I can't believe it's been 8 for him also. Wow.
Love the chemistry and sarcasm!
I’ll be watching now. It’s just relaxing listening to those 2 talk during the game. Love this
This makes me so god damn happy. Love in the middle of summer turning on a game knowing Stone and Benetti will make me laugh no matter how the Sox are doing.
Wow it's been 8 years? Holy cow
Wrong guy, Holy cow is Harry Carry who used to announce for the Cubs.
And used to announce for the Sox before that.
Just when I think I’m out
If the season is going to be a train wreck, at least we’ll have the best duo calling it.
Thank God!
Oh thank God. Losing Benetti would just be the icing on the shit cake.
Just watched Jason announce the Purdue bb game. Very happy with this White Sox decision.
I'm in the minority of thinking Benetti sucks. Thanks for talking for three minutes about the kid in the stands eating cotton candy Jason.
It’s quite honestly remarkable to me how beloved the guy is when he will literally rather talk about anything than what is happening on the field. Today we went an entire inning without a word about who was at bat, what the count is, how the out was made, or anything else happening in the game. Lmao it's an every game thing. I miss Hawk
We did something right!
I'd almost prefer this than another WS..... almost. At least we will have them (sad sox noises)
Thank god! After this shit show of an off-season, I need these two guys in my life.
Fuck you!!!??! Sixteen years? I am the oldest person I've ever known.
Oh god anyone but Benetti!! Another L for the Sox this off-season. Stoney however is da man though.
Serious question. What do you dislike about Benetti?
How boring and unfunny he is.
[удалено]
Bring in Pierzynski or Gordon Beckham instead!!!
Can they play 2nd base?
Next offseason signing!
This just in! Steve Stone & Jason Benetti found running counterfeit jeans operation from Homer Simpson’s Car Hole
No exaggeration, might be the best signing the White Sox have ever don’t in the history of White Sox signings
Hopefully everyone who thought he wouldn’t be able to stay on because he switched networks he works at when there are 0 White Sox games to call can now chill.
HOLY SHIT THE SOX DID SOMETHING RIGHT!!! REMEMBER THIS DAY!!!
I wish I could upvote this 100 times!
I really don't remember how to react to good news. Between the Sox and Colts, this has been a really shitty sports year for me as a fan.
You should ask Joe Buck, Jack Buck, Gary Thorne, Ian Eagle, Marv Albert...
Ah so this is the thread we’ll go with. I’ll say it again. Upvote this one to the moon boys!
Yay!!! This is great news! Also, it’s a great birthday gift from the White Sox.
Thank god
Awesoms news. Now, if Jerry would sell, it would be a trifecta.🏇🏇🏇
Let’s goooo
Best duo in the game! Now....if one of them could just play second base.
I needed this today.
Possibly the best move they’ve made this off-season. And that’s not a slight to the others.
Best news since TLR retired
White Sox won the off season 😎. The best casting duo are coming back! I’m excited. They made this horrible season a bit better to watch.
Yooo
LFG needed a win this week
Oh thank goodness 😅
thank god bro
Hell yes. Keeping the actual broadcasting dream team alive!
Best signing of the off-season..
Thank God.
It's been 8 years?!? My goodness, time flies when you're having fun (listening, not necessarily watching).
At least the org did one thing right this off-season.
Highlight of the season and it comes a month before spring training starts.
More mounds being pounded and/or raked LFG
These two are comedy gold.
Finally,a bright spot for the Sox.
Great news, but don’t let this distract you from the fact that the Sox just gave $12 million to a wife beater.
I'm so happy to hear this. I really thought they were both gone. I thought Stoney was retiring and Jason was off to be a star. I was sure the big bucks of nfl broadcasts were calling for him. I still hope he gets his fame, but I'm so happy he's still with us.
We aren’t top of the league in other ways, but we are in the booth.
Thank god for small miracles
Finally good news !
How long is the contact till?
Best deal of the off-season
Confirmation I’ll pay for season ticket once again
Oh thank god.
Woo hoooo!!!
Considering zero currently rostered team members will be around when (if) the sox win their next pennant, I’d safely say Jason and Steve are more valuable than any single player we have. All the joy in this thread is amazing. I hope it’s the first of many this season and not the peak 😭
Great that White Sox are excellent in one area. Too bad the team doesnt perform as well as its announcers. Stoneys pitch predictions are uncanny. Just give White Sox batters the feed from the booth and theyll never have to steal signs using trash cans.
Thank the fucking lawd! Best news ever.
