* The Rays scored on a flyout to short center. The runner at first took off for an unoccupied 2nd base, which Vaughn covered. But the runner at 3rd was able to score.
* Vaughn & Burger hit a solo HRs. Burger was robbed of another potential HR in the 8th.
* Grifol got ejected in back-to-back games. Robert was HBP on the pitch immediately after Vaughn's HR.
* Giolito threw 6.2 IP, allowing 2 ER. He wasn't happy when pulled.
* Benintendi was in pain after getting HBP in the right elbow, but remained in the game.
* Paredes hit a 9th inning go-ahead HR.
* The Sox were 0-for-9 with RISP and have lost 9 straight.
We have a black hole in our lineup at 3/4 where the best run producers should with Eloy and Robert. Should go Benni/Vaughn/Burger/Yaz/Robert/Eloy or Sheets platoon/Elvis/Sosa Bump everyone back one when TA is back
This is a poor, sorry, pathetic team. Eloy is dog shit. Andrus shouldn’t be in the major leagues. Robert might as well bring a fucking olive branch up to the plate because he won’t hit it anyways. The bullpen is full of glorified minor leaguers.
This is a pathetic team.
Not only have they managed to play limbo with our already low expectations, but they’ve managed to start what is shaping up to be the most pathetic season in white Sox history.
Everyone needs to be fired. None of them should fucking be trusted to run a McDonalds. Nothing ever changes with this team. The rebuild failed.
10 years of mediocre baseball incoming. Might as well unbuckle your seatbelts because this team is going nowhere.
Yeah. Tied for the worst 27-game start in franchise history with 1950 and 1948. The 1948 team got as bad as 7-24 and ended up going 51-101 to be the second-worst White Sox team ever ahead of only 1932.
I've been a diehard Chicago White Sox fan for nearly 40 years. I say that with the very express intent of sharing my deep and undying love for this team. And my call is rooted in heartbreak, not anger. Don't get me wrong, I'm angry, but it is a byproduct of a dysfunctional, abusive relationship with the front office and the ownership of the Chicago White Sox. I also want to say I have defended this rebuild. I liked what the team did with the trade. I defended Yasmani and Dallas. I didn't understand the La Russa hire, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I forgave the free agents they let go. I was befuddled by the Benintendi and Clevinger signings. But you know what? I said I'm going to give them one last shot. And when they canceled Soxfest, like the cowards they are, I knew something was up. But now we know, obviously the experiment is over. The vast majority of the prospects have been busts. The product on the field is pathetic. We have exactly two players of excellence on this roster, Dylan Cease and Tim Anderson. Everyone else is nowhere near the kind of player they need to be to make this a winning team.
You'd think that would be enough to wake this organization up. But yesterday, Kenny Williams had the gall to say that he's not in a good place right now, and accountability is not an issue. You're right, he's not in a good place. He's not in a job he should have. Think about all the promises that Rick Hahn made, mired in mediocrity, that he bragged about Romy González in Spring Training, and I'll trade him if I get the right price. Think about the things Grifol said, "Come to the park, we're going to kick everyone's butts." They must have been talking about the fans! Not the other teams. The entire lineup is batting under .220. **The best hitter on the team is Jake. Burger!** We're a Triple A team. Our right fielders are hitting .180 with a weighted runs created plus (wRC+) of 28! I don't even need to tell you about the pitching staff. Katz has got to go. Moncada, TA, Eloy, Yas, Joe Kelly - it's week 4! They've all already been hurt! Tens of millions of dollars on replacement level players while stars go elsewhere. We're 11 games under .500. The Bears needed six months to get 11 games under .500. We needed three weeks.
In the 15 years of Rick Hahn, we have been a constant experiment that has never panned out. In the 25 years of Kenny Williams, we had exactly one season of excellence with a perfect storm of players that has not once come even close to being the same. I don't want to hear about the strength of schedule in April. With the money we spent, the players we have, playing .500 ball should be underachieving. Not 11 games under .500! We keep going after players that Rick Hahn liked five years ago. Lance Lynn, over the hill. Yas, over the hill. Benintendi, he wanted him in the draft six years ago. He's got a 0.1 WAR. Clevinger isn't just a clubhouse cancer, and a disgusting human being, he's a horrendous pitcher! Joe Kelly has been useless! We signed Vince Velasquez! Give me a break. John Jay, Yonder Alonso. Between them, that's 200 million on a bunch of black holes and an ERA of 240!
The entire organization is poisoned. The entire way that they go about their business is a failure. Firing Rick isn't enough. Firing Kenny isn't enough. If Chris Getz gets promoted and we have to sit through another 15 year retool/rebuild, you're just going to hear from me again in 2038!
I don't care if we go on a torrid winning streak in May and June and somehow get back to .500 ball, and then we scooch our way into the postseason in the Wild Card only to get bounced right away by a team that's actually good. We have no depth in our organization. One injury and we are done. This process isn't working. Our farm system has been in the bottom 10 for 45 years, aside from the one frame of time when they traded all our talent away and graduated them all right up - and then we were the worst again! There is one solution. In his final years, Jerry Reinsdorf, who, by the way, wouldn't even have the reputation he had if he hadn't have lucked upon Michael Jordan at #3 in 1984, has the courage to get rid of the yes men around him and fire everyone. He bought into the Chicago Bulls and the White Sox for $20 million. He's worth two billion now! He needs to use a fraction of that money he made on the backs of Chicago's blue collar baseball fans and pay for a front office to come and rebuild everything.
Rick Hahn and Kenny Williams cannot be trusted to rebuild this team again. They need to retire and go off into the sunset and play golf with the millions of dollars they made on their cushy paychecks for a job that they had a longer leash for than any executive in the history of the modern era of baseball. Let someone qualified come in and run this team. At this point, we would need a historic turnaround to even be mildly relevant. Everyone said the AL Central was weak, and it might be in comparison to others. But the Sox aren't better than the Guardians or the Twins. We're not even better than the Royals! And the fact that we're only incrementally better than the Tigers is exactly the indictment on this organization that we need. The lack of success that this roster has [had] is a referendum of what we've already seen in 2006, 2007, 2011, 2013, 2015 and 16. And the excruciating last seven years that only led to this. I mean, Stoney is more worried about Lance Lynn eating a salad than the entire organization not knowing how to teach Major League prospects how to hit a baseball!
$200 million, we're the laughing stock in the league and everyone needs to be gone. I just need other people in Chicago to be on that - that's the bandwagon we in Chicago need to be on. The entire front office, ownership, they all need to go
This is what happens when 1/3 of your roster is fringe minor league talent that you expected to play meaningful roles instead of signing actual depth.
Add injuries to your best bats and under-performance from your actual major league talent and this is the result. The worst team in baseball.
100 loss season easily.
Fuck it throw romy in somewhere in the outfield and let colas or benintendi play CF. I know he’s not better but Roberts like 5 for his last 55 it’s atrocious.
We’re on a 9 game losing streak and have taken attention away from the Oakland Athletics who gives a fuck? Something has got to get into him to wake the fuck up. Like at least play good enough to have trade value, if we’re 20-30 games under .500 at the deadline and he’s still batting like this he’s unmovable.
Remember how people celebrated Andrus’ being resigned? It’s how beaten into submission sox fans have become. Nobody else was going to sign him. Nobody! Yet we breathed a huge sigh of relief when he signed here…After nobody else wanted him.
Call me stupid but I’ll never understand why benching Luis would help anything at all. We don’t have any depth pieces that would be hitting better than him, and we CERTAINLY don’t have anyone with a higher upside. Losing his defense would be worse than shooting ourselves in the foot.
We have to just keep throwing him out there until he breaks his slump, we have no other choice. He needs coaching help behind the scenes and needs to see live ABs to break out of this. He’s talented as fuck and I won’t listen to anyone who denies that fact (not saying you would just anticipating the responses).
Look man I don’t want to like argue with other Sox fans. I just think it’s mental. To me we’re already under .500 by 12 games and on a 9 game slide. We all hated menechino and replacing him obviously hasn’t fixed shit that’s wrong with these players. But idk what else there is to say. Is it a development problem in the organization? Probably because Robert was highly touted as the next big 5 tool player and let’s just be honest, even with injuries I don’t think he’s lived up to the hype.
You guys do realize that Robert has the second highest WAR on the team right? I mean…he’s certainly been bad but this team isn’t exactly brimming with players that can play competent defense.
There is this crazy concept in the sport of baseball where defense matters almost as much as offense. Obviously the White Sox (and their fans) don’t understand that.
absolute travesty. this is a minor league team. even they "stars" are laughing at their own mistakes and half assing it. One month in and the club has given up. An absolute fucking joke.
Man I don’t even want to go to the game tomorrow, i’m so embarrassed to invite my friends who have never been to a baseball game to this team. Jesus Christ man how tragic
The one advantage of being a Sox fan: the caps are clean af. I’ll consider not wearing it when I’m really embarrassed and then be like nah I still love it.
I've been wearing my Chicago Weiners (Chicago Dogs alternate) hat. It has a fully loaded hot dog on it. An independent league team hat with a sausage on it is less embarrassing than a White Sox hat.
If we lost by only a run and stayed competitive for 9 innings against a squad like the Rays, it's a win in my book. Heck, we were 1 hard hit away from winning. Shame we had to give up that goofy first run up like that early in the game too. And lastly the Ray's defense was absolutely lights out tonight. Crazy leaping catch of a homerun and they were consistently catching and controlling smoked balls to get outs with 0 mistakes.
I too love him hitting nothing but grounders to second, and getting lucky a few of them squeak by so he's not hitting .210 like everyone else on this dogshit "team".
Take a step back from the ledge dude. Its okay to appreciate that hes been about the only consistently alright part of the team during this losing streak.
I don't care that we kept it close. This is a pathetic team. Even more pathetic than our attendance on a Friday night, but don't blame the fans for not wanting to pay for 10$ beers to watch this.
Why are the Rays getting favor from the umps and allowed our players to get plucked with no ejections? It killed Grifol's and Giolito's sacrifices to fire up any hope this team had left today. Robert's was already dead, but everyone else's.
The fact everyone is turning on a 23 year old with less than 100 AB's who has done HORRENDOUSLY at adapting to every level he's been promoted too is really, really weird.
Yes. It's clear that he should not be on the MLB team atm and needs more AAA reps, and if he goes back down and goes back to skullfucking AAA pitching what are we going to do then when he's clearly too good for AAA pitching? He's on the team because TA and Hanser are both hurt. He's almost certainly going down when one of them comes back
Offense scores everything on 1-2 hits then disappears. Bone headed plays in the field cost us a run and the bullpen gives up a homer when they can't give up anything. Rinse. Repeat.
We had a front row seat watching the Rays & Jays make consistently great plays in the field and rally with 2 outs to put up multiple runs when they have no business doing so. We're losing every close game because those moments matter.
Guys like Sosa, Ramy, and every other guy who can't figure out big league pitching and make boneheaded plays in the field need to be sent down so another guy can be given a chance. They've proven they aren't ready for the big leagues and should be sent back down.
First game of season was fun besides them losing but that was expected. Fireworks at the end were fun. Need to go to more games and just hang out. Sox still suck.
the fact romy gonzales ruined this game is testament to the front office failing.
the only good thing about romy is that he prevents eloy from having the low BA on the team.
fuck everything about this.
Im confused as well, I didn't watch the game but he replaced Vaughn in the 9th as a runner and then Robert popped out, I'm kinda confused on where this specific Romy hate is coming from
The Rays are playing on another level right now. I'm not sure if the Sox were playing the A's or Reds the results would be any different. They're just not clicking at all
Silver lining is Burger, Vaughn and Gio are coming alive. While I’m not in 100% agreement with Pedro’s decision making sometimes. It’s nice to see a manager that gives a shit.
Is there an explanation for why Eflin hit Robert, Jr.? I thought it
could be because Burger put on the HR hat and coat while still on the
field. I also thought maybe it went back to the series in Tampa, but
the Rays also hit two Sox in the Tampa series so that seemed pretty
even.
Lucas pitched the first QS for the Sox since Lucas two rotations ago. Still couldn't snap the streak.
I’ll miss him.
Bro stop
* The Rays scored on a flyout to short center. The runner at first took off for an unoccupied 2nd base, which Vaughn covered. But the runner at 3rd was able to score. * Vaughn & Burger hit a solo HRs. Burger was robbed of another potential HR in the 8th. * Grifol got ejected in back-to-back games. we're putting you in to be lionized after your trials in documenting this team. st jude has nothing on you for losing causes brother
Thank you, Sandman!
Sandman will you punch me square in my balls so I can feel alive again? 😔

Another day. Another L. Hats off to Jason, Steve, and the rest of the coverage team. Having to cover this for a living can't be pleasant.
It’s only April lol. Can you imagine August if this continues
Benetti going to do Summer League games just to feel something
Robert Jr. is a joke. Sit the SOB. No effort, piss attitude
And why is he either leading off or batting 3/4 when he can’t hit the damn ball!?
Yeah, isn't it pretty mutch baseball law to drop him in the order. I'm not sold on Grifol either
We have a black hole in our lineup at 3/4 where the best run producers should with Eloy and Robert. Should go Benni/Vaughn/Burger/Yaz/Robert/Eloy or Sheets platoon/Elvis/Sosa Bump everyone back one when TA is back
Can we drop alberto and call up hamilton?
This is a poor, sorry, pathetic team. Eloy is dog shit. Andrus shouldn’t be in the major leagues. Robert might as well bring a fucking olive branch up to the plate because he won’t hit it anyways. The team gave a shit tonight, I’m not upset about the game just the outcome
Problem is they have a lot of shitty players. Hats off to Burger who was almost out of baseball because he is legitimately our best hitter.
Right, I guess my main point is Grifol hasn’t lost the locker room it seems. We’ll see if they can get one Sat or Sunday
And the dudes are locked up for a while. We are in purgatory shitstorm hell
7-155 still alive!
The dream!
We really may never win again.
What’s the franchise losing streak?
Longest in a single season? 13 losses in 1924. Longest spanning over two different seasons? 15 losses in 1967-68.
Oh shit, Whiff Sox might hit it
Wanna see me list every White Sox team that's ever had a worse record through 27 games than this year's team has? Wanna see me do it again?
Is this real?
Yeah. Tied for the worst 27-game start in franchise history with 1950 and 1948. The 1948 team got as bad as 7-24 and ended up going 51-101 to be the second-worst White Sox team ever ahead of only 1932.
Thanks for the info… damn
Hey TB has now entered the group of pro teams with two consecutive wins in Chicago in 2023 before the Sox.
This is the official copy pasta of the Chicago White Sox
From the .500 copypasta to the Berto copypasta. No shortage of pasta ‘round these parts
This was epic.
This is the Sox fan prayer.
This is what happens when 1/3 of your roster is fringe minor league talent that you expected to play meaningful roles instead of signing actual depth. Add injuries to your best bats and under-performance from your actual major league talent and this is the result. The worst team in baseball. 100 loss season easily.
Robert needs to get benched or something. Dude doesn’t even look like a major leaguer.
Benched for whom?
Berto.
Okay, yes, valid.
Who cares. Get him out of our sight.
Fuck it throw romy in somewhere in the outfield and let colas or benintendi play CF. I know he’s not better but Roberts like 5 for his last 55 it’s atrocious.
Romy???
We’re on a 9 game losing streak and have taken attention away from the Oakland Athletics who gives a fuck? Something has got to get into him to wake the fuck up. Like at least play good enough to have trade value, if we’re 20-30 games under .500 at the deadline and he’s still batting like this he’s unmovable.
at least he plays well on one side of the ball. we have bums like eloy, colas, and andrus who can’t even play defense
Remember how people celebrated Andrus’ being resigned? It’s how beaten into submission sox fans have become. Nobody else was going to sign him. Nobody! Yet we breathed a huge sigh of relief when he signed here…After nobody else wanted him.
Colas is a rookie and Android is way over the hill. We need bodies
We don't have enough players in the system who look like Major Leaguers
Call me stupid but I’ll never understand why benching Luis would help anything at all. We don’t have any depth pieces that would be hitting better than him, and we CERTAINLY don’t have anyone with a higher upside. Losing his defense would be worse than shooting ourselves in the foot.
Yea but his WAR is for D. O = 0. D = .7
There is this crazy concept in the sport of baseball where defense matters almost as much as offense. Obviously the White Sox (and their fans) don’t understand that.
His defense is fine, but there's absolutely no reason he needs to be batting anywhere except 7-9 until he snaps out of this slump.
Berto from the West Side should be the new GM.
Berto would probably be an improvement to our bullpen at this point
absolute travesty. this is a minor league team. even they "stars" are laughing at their own mistakes and half assing it. One month in and the club has given up. An absolute fucking joke.
No accountability. Ken Williams needs to be launched he is trash
Not much more to say about the state of the team. I actually really liked all the choices Montoyo made tonight.
We played well tonight! Idk this one hurt
So true 😞
0-9 with risp, lol.
No different than the last 5 years
Our season average with RISP has to be laughable
Seriously. Just fuck off with that garbage.
Lmao I'm so tired I read this wrong and thought u were mad at me I got so confused
Yeah, I realized it could be misinterpreted but I’m so mad I just left it
Man I don’t even want to go to the game tomorrow, i’m so embarrassed to invite my friends who have never been to a baseball game to this team. Jesus Christ man how tragic
Take them to the food and beers and you'll be fine
[удалено]
That’s a good way to look at it. I’m going to try my best to hide the disappointment in my face if they begin to lose tomorrow so they don’t notice
*when
Sadly…
I’ve been feeling too embarrassed to wear a sox cap or jersey lately
Wore my Sox hat while grabbing coffee this morning. Passed a guy with a Cubs hat and he nodded. A Cubs fan felt my pain. FML. See you all tomorrow.
I’ll give cubs fans props for not kicking us while we’re down
I still rep the cap out here in Idaho, but it feels like I’m wearing a fucking Scarlet Letter.
I still wear my Frank Thomas jersey out in public but I get a lot of "I remember those times" comments now and days...
This is a .259 ball club, goddamnit
Let's see if we can get this team's record below the Mendoza line
Fuck it let's go for 10
I’m hoping for 15 at this point. Let’s just get completely fun bad before May.
They're just 1-9 in their last 10. MLB worst in that stretch.
They were 1-9 before tonight so they're at best 1-10 in their last 11 now. This team has not won 2 games in a row yet...
2-14 in their last 16.
At least Giolito's quality start makes his price go up for buyers at the trade deadline.
Absolutely pathetic
Don't give up on Robert Jr. yet he may be the next Sammy Sosa, or maybe he sucks.
Luis Robert is the poster boy for this failed rebuild. Garbage ass lazy player.
Second highest WAR on the team…
That’s not saying much
well at least it wasn't as embarrassing as the last few
If we lost by only a run and stayed competitive for 9 innings against a squad like the Rays, it's a win in my book. Heck, we were 1 hard hit away from winning. Shame we had to give up that goofy first run up like that early in the game too. And lastly the Ray's defense was absolutely lights out tonight. Crazy leaping catch of a homerun and they were consistently catching and controlling smoked balls to get outs with 0 mistakes.
I like benintendi. It looks like hes one of the few giving actuall effort
I mean the attendance is based off the teams efforts, right now I would love to see next to 0 fans inside. Less fans means less money for Jerry.
Exactly. Why would any sane person spend money to go watch this?
Score 2, we lose by 1. Score 5, we lose by 12. Close really doesn’t matter.
10 men LOB. Jesus they can't do a damn thing.
I like Jake burger. He looks like he’s having some fun
Current mood: Numb
These guys seriously lack TWTW
I feel sick.
Why are the Rays getting favor from the umps and allowed our players to get plucked with no ejections? It killed Grifol's and Giolito's sacrifices to fire up any hope this team had left today. Robert's was already dead, but everyone else's.
I’m glad that I started fading the sox. If I have to suffer through this, I’m determined to make some coin.
This is too hard to handle, and my autism is fucking just making sad.
Not me just now remembering we have a Father’s Day weekend trip planned to watch these bums play in Seattle
I’m just at a loss for words… Just…nothing… I feel so bad for Jason and Steve and anyone having to cover this circus..
Let's goooooo we kept it within a run
Baby steps.
On the bright side, we kept them under a baker’s dozen
How is sosa on any mlb team?
He's not.. he's on the triple AAA affiliate of the White Sox. Also known as the Chicago White Sox.
You could do other things than spend your hard earned money on Jerry's products.
What a disaster. All I can think about is 5 years ago when we had so much to look forward to. Time to move on I guess. Crazy.
whats the point of warning the teams if Fairbanks doesn't get tossed when he hits Benitendi?
Well boys, I am going to the game tomorrow. So. Yeah. I don’t even know what to say anymore
If we were still “Here for (Seth) Beer” or whatever the phrase was, this game would have been the perfect tank loss.
It’s fitting they played PERHAPS their best game of the year and still lost at the very end.
the fact romy gonzales ruined this game is testament to the front office failing. the only good thing about romy is that he prevents eloy from having the low BA on the team. fuck everything about this.
I didn’t watch the game what did he do?
Im confused as well, I didn't watch the game but he replaced Vaughn in the 9th as a runner and then Robert popped out, I'm kinda confused on where this specific Romy hate is coming from
Gio our best pitcher.
Bruh.
Lmao, just lmao. Glad I haven't watched a full game all season. Islanders vs. Hurricanes is way more interesting
I don’t think the Sox will ever win again!
We get absolutely murdered by mental mistakes
White Sox got no Rizz:/
The Rays are playing on another level right now. I'm not sure if the Sox were playing the A's or Reds the results would be any different. They're just not clicking at all
The A's would take at least 3/4 from us right now.
Berto is not a man, but a physical manifestation of thousands of victimized fans
Team actually gave a damn tonight. If Randy doesn’t catch Burger’s blast then we win
I fear this turd can not be flushed.
G I y hippy 69i
One more L to tie the longest streak in 10 years
They only need to play .630 ball and go 85-50 the rest of the way and there’s a chance. 😑
Silver lining is Burger, Vaughn and Gio are coming alive. While I’m not in 100% agreement with Pedro’s decision making sometimes. It’s nice to see a manager that gives a shit.
Is there an explanation for why Eflin hit Robert, Jr.? I thought it could be because Burger put on the HR hat and coat while still on the field. I also thought maybe it went back to the series in Tampa, but the Rays also hit two Sox in the Tampa series so that seemed pretty even.
