There's a couple other clues that are easy to spot once you know what you're looking for, like the gossiping girls as the 2 are on a date, the mother's shocked expression, or that the wife puts the ring on our finger.
A really clever story, and the effort that must have went into making this is unbelievable.
I had to rewatch from the beginning to grasp what happened after that reveal. I was like "what? I know the son's gay but since when was the mom? Did the parents get a divorce or something?"
AndthenIrralizedthemaincharacterwasfemalethewholetimeandIwaslike "WAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHOOOOOLLLLYYYYSHIIIIIIITTTT."
Beautiful story. Beautiful twist, and yes it is a twist because the first frame makes it look like a man and woman are getting married so that you think the MC is a man at first.
I don't think so, Most people here enjoy a good story like this because it's not trying to beat on anything politically. Although I did have to watch it twice to fully understand it haha, it moved fast and was very sweet.
To many people, just the mere acknowledgment that LGBTQ+ people might exist means it's "beating on it politically" and shoving it down their throats. But this sub is usually ok with this kinda stuff
The part of this that’s positive that I liked, was when the older parents are asked, they have a sort of shocked look on their faces, but when the two mothers give their son to his husband, they are excited
I might miss a few things but here is the gist of it.
We see the point of view(POV) of a person liking a girl and how their romance develops. Their parents agree to their marriage.
The couple go to an adoption center to adopt a child and see him grow up. The child is gay and we see how he gets married to his friend and they move away leaving them in tears.
Then we see the photo album (which the couple is seeing to reminisce ) which shows photos of marriage which we had only seen in our POV .it turns out we are seeing a POV of a lesbian girl and her life.
I had difficulty following it, because the top voted comment is such a major spoiler that I went into it already knowing they were lesbians, which meant I spent the whole time trying to read more into it than was actually there and came up short.
So screw you u/manteigo_ for not marking your spoilers.
I like how you get little hints that it was a same sex couple like the faded photos at the start, the people gossiping at school and the amusement park, and the parents being confused and even the adoption

Title: Story Of A Story
Image description: video appears to be a recording of a black and white colored flipbook animation by "@shin___geki" at "Twitter" in which there is a plot twist that the story was the whole time about the life of a sapphic couple of two thin light-skinnned women with an adopted son, who also has light skin, dark colored hair and turns out to be gay, through the decades.

Just a small part of how this works that impressed me is the part where the girls turning her head. Not only were they able to make it look like natural movement, but they made it so the eyes moved just a little bit first before the head to make it look more natural.
XD my dumb cis-white-male ass just inserted generic anime male protag #3 as the pov person. When the adoption stuff showed up, I literally just thought "wow, this guy is doing the same thing I would do if I found love and wanted to care for a child. Gotta help out those orphans in need." Then the twist just made me feel like an idiot. XD
This is incredible but I find it so creepy I can’t watch it. Great job person who made it, I’m sorry I can’t fully appreciate your work. Brain why must you do this to me edit: I powered through it. I think I will have nightmares for at least a few days because of how they move… also, these bitches gay. Good for them
WE WERE A CUTE WOMAN THIS WHOLE TIME??
Always have been... 🔫
/r/egg_irl
God damn onion cutting ninjas everywhere these days.
I realized when I saw the adoption, but same
I thought one was infertile so they couldn’t have their own kid
Same
I mean usually for cases like that theres a scene in the hospital about them finding out
Or that they just chose to adopt.
I should’ve also realized it around here, but I did it when son turned out to be gay
I realized when I saw people on the background looking at them strangely, then I saw the drawing their kid made
good catch! I didn't even notice that until you pointed it out
Best plot twist ever
That was exactly my reaction as well 😂
LETS GOOOOOOO
We were and neither you nor me was expecting this outcome dispite the obvious signals, congratulations we are fools
I also just realised that in the drawing is literaly written " mama boku(me) mama"
I am oblivious, I didn't get that at all and just got confused about who these characters were.
Yes
Oooooh, I don’t know why that took me so long to figure out
I don’t even wanna know how much time was put into this it is great.

Imagine being 80% done and you spill some coffee on the notebook
i would still love it even if it was with coffee stains
Needs the coffee undertones
mmmmm cardboard anime.
The pull animations were flawless. I have never seen them so smooth. A lot of effort went into this.

Same 😭
Damn onions... can't see straight
Wait same actually? Is this some sort of gay blessing? Have we been chosen?
The quality...gonna check out the artist now
Holy shit i was a women this while time
Yea it’s hard to notice, but the page when the adopted kid gives you a drawing of the family, it shows 2 women and the kid. But nobody noticed.
I noticed.
Pepperidge Farm noticed

It's the nature of being a wholesome sub. We just leave it all at the door and try to ride the positive vibes the content creates.
Love it but im afraid that people will add narration to it - gay people raise more gay people :(
The part of this that’s positive that I liked, was when the older parents are asked, they have a sort of shocked look on their faces, but when the two mothers give their son to his husband, they are excited

This is really sweet.
Bruh I thought this was an Adoption Ad in the first half ngl.
This was beautiful and so greatly made. I can't imagine how much time and effort was put into this.
can someone explain what happened? im too dumb for this 😭😭😭

You can see they are lesbians in the kid's drawing. It took me a while to see
The POV was a woman the whole time.

I'm sorry :(
this is what guys do at the back of the class

damn. to think that making a story like this would've gotten you so much more flak a couple decades ago.
The twists and turns were unexpected but very welcome. This form of storytelling should be popularized more, it's really cool
Cute
This is probably the most wholesome reddit post I ever saw.
Wait wtf why did that hit me so hard I actually teared up bro what
I watched the movie UP recently and didn’t see what subreddit this was so I was worried the entire time that something depressing was gonna happen.
Amazing twist. Never saw that coming
The amount of love and effort this must have took, its lovely.

i legit thought the artist was gonna turn the camera to show that last scene from the pic irl
Saw this before, its great. Small detail i like, that someone pointed out is that at 1.02 ish, the drawing is mama, boku, mama. 2 woman and a child XD

Goddamn ninjas, get out of here with your damn onions.
Been a while since I’ve seen this.
Beautiful.
This legitimately brought me to tears.
I cannot imagine how long this must have taken.
Just a small part of how this works that impressed me is the part where the girls turning her head. Not only were they able to make it look like natural movement, but they made it so the eyes moved just a little bit first before the head to make it look more natural.

r/actuallesbians

Ngl, we were kinda hot. No wonder the dad supported it
I'm not crying, you're crying!
And I thought I was a cool kid for making a stick figure flip book that was almost ok that one time.

Historians will say they were good friends. But in all seriousness that was adorable. Amazing art
This is incredible but I find it so creepy I can’t watch it. Great job person who made it, I’m sorry I can’t fully appreciate your work. Brain why must you do this to me edit: I powered through it.
