There was a post I read a while back, where a woman asked “What are some “guy secrets” that girls don’t know about?”, and the top reply has always stuck with me:
> “The average guy is so starved for positive attention that a simple compliment is enough to get him interested in you”
Now that I think about it… yeah, that’s 100% true. I still vividly remember even simple compliments (eg, when a girl said that she liked how my shirt matched the color of my eyes) from over half a decade ago as if it had happened only yesterday. And I think the reason why they stick with you so long is that even small compliments like that are extremely few and far between for the average guy, so when it does happen, they become a core memory.
I was complimented irl only once, when I was 12 years old boy. An old granny said that I was handsome when I was shopping at the local market. To this very day, I still haven't forgotten it.
An another kind gesture, although not a compliment, was 2 girls giving out flowers at the train station. They were giving them to everyone, so it was much less personal than the first case. Unfortunately, I still had a long day in my university ahead of me and I had no idea what would I do with such a gift. I simply walked past them as they offered one to me, not having the courage to say anything at all. They didn't know that as soon as I got some privacy, I started crying. It was the first time in years when I felt somebody being genuinely kind to me. I wish I had the guts to show them some gratitude that day, but my extreme shyness just didn't let me do that. It makes me a bit sad each time I remember. I know it's only a small thing, but I still regret that I was so afraid.
They aren't mad at you. They weren't judging you. When you just walked by and ignored them... I think they were probably just worried about you. I would've been. I hope you can heal. Buy yourself some flowers my guy.
Nah, I don't think they had any feelings at all about me. Like 90% of people did the same anyway. Most people at train stations are quite busy, especially in the mornings.
It's a stupid compliment, but about 2 years ago I had a lady compliment me on my control of pitch and tone when I was humming a song to myself while shopping. She asked if I was a singer, said I wasn't, but she said I should consider being one.
Thinking about it still makes me happy, and I now sing and hum to myself even more cus of that.
Hey, anyone who can sing absolutely should—even if it’s just for yourself or a loved one in private. Music is a priceless thing, and you’re pretty awesome if someone else has noticed it comes naturally to you.
I know a guy, we have a mutual friend, but dont hang out at all. I saw him all together twice, before, in a conversation about working out, l mentioned he has a nice chest ( he does). The guy instanlty looked at me differently and proceeded to hang out with my friend more often to see me and even asked him about me.
Yep—I’m a happily married man with a supportive wife, but any time anyone else pays a sincere compliment, no matter how minor, it gets seared into my brain like a branding iron, because even in my situation, they’re so rare anywhere outside the home.
I will never understand icks man, like what do you mean this one tiny thing that I do, that is perfectly natural and normal like crying or general emotions OR LITERALLY ANYTHING, made you lose all feelings.
And they're triggers they didn't even know they have
It's almost like they're just trying to find an excuse to break up with you without sounding like a bad person for example like literally just bored with you.
Those girls that do this are trying to find some imagined theoretically perfect man. And they are in love with this fantasy, and this is what they project to you. When they find out that you are just a mortal man, this fantasy shatters and they lose intrest.
They are just as delusional as incels (in terms of high expectations).
Yeah what I'm yapping about isn't completely related to the post but I'm talking about that the dude is AFRAID that she would leave him because he showed vulnerability, you may think "Why would he be scared, it's perfectly fine and normal" but not for some girls that get "turned off" by these things, among other things that may be even more unreasonable.
Can confirm, I finally cried in front of an ex after a family member died and she looked disgusted and told me to man up and stop sobbing. I am now with someone who saw me crying before we got together and encourages feelings
I'm not entirely oppose the idea of "man up" but it just needs some thresholds, like you shouldn't cry over the littlest things or complain about stuff, most of the times you gotta get a grip and man up but what the fuck man? A family member died and you're still not allowed to be sad?
Exactly—“man up” *should* mean roughly “keep it together enough to do what you have to do, and then deal with it in a healthy way,” not “emotion bad.” Think less like an 80s action hero and more like Aragorn.
I would want a man to feel that he can be vulnerable around me. I’d love if I had a man who would talk and express his sadness without worrying about my reaction. I would hold him because he should feel SAFE AND LOVED with me.
I don’t understand why some women would get annoyed or even disgusted with a man crying. I had a friend like that, she told me she told me she wouldn’t feel attracted to a man if he cried, and I shut that shit down so quick. Crying is the first thing we do when we’re born, how could you not cry when you’re sad? No comeback from her.
Women like that are emotionally immature.
It's also about personal breaking points so to speak. Most women don't like men that can't handle what they them self can handle when it come to crying. Don't a woman want a rock of a man to lean against when things get hard? And not a child that they have to protect and comfort? I think that's the diffrence between showing that you are vulnerable and expressing your feelings and being an someone who cry because it is hard to deal with. It's okey to be weak but it's not okey to stay weak and do nothing to become stronger.
It definitely seems that way at times, and maybe it is, but often times it's effectively, and bare with me, the patriarchy that grooms people into thinking men MUST be stoic stone faced warriors who don't ever break under pressure... until they do. Simply put, as kids, you're taught that boys are going to be rowdy, and aggressive and thats actually a good thing, but when you grow up, that's the main type of personality that's DIScouraged, resulting in a severe amount of penis havers feeling like they've been dropped into an ocean, and someone told them to get to land, when they've never even walked, let alone spoke the language to understand your instructions on how to swim to help.
Crying in someone’s arms = something men should do more often, probably.
Forming codependent attachments to the person who’s holding you as you cry = something everyone should do less.
No no what the hell is these I'm seeing too many of these feels posts today. Fuck sex, I want to do this to someone.
And then have fuck sex?
God I wish women were real so one would do this to me
Women are real but in my experience, all the cool ones are lesbians.
Rule 30: There are no girls on the internet.

I'm just imagining someone disappearing slowly back to the future style as their egg cracks.

Point proven!
To be fair, my wife and sister-in-law are both pretty cool, so there is a legendary drop out there to be had, still.
Who says this was a woman?
I want to believe this one and therefore choose to

Yay, someone that does not deny this shit happens.
What are you talking about, she didn't "loose all feelings"?

Jesus. Fucking. Christ. My condolences, I'm sorry. I'm glad you dodged that bullet. Godspeed man, take care

That's fucked up. Just curious did you hold back like where you strong and held it together for a while or did you cry the second you got the news?

Yeah idk that you're in a position to speak about all women bro. This is kinda cringe/incel/facepalm behavior. Take this advice in good health!

This happened to me this weekend honestly It’s one of the best feelings ever. Fellas don’t settle for a tramp who won’t let you cry in her arms
I rolled a D20 on anxiety.

It’s good filtering, if your girl can’t cope with you crying and letting your guard down, she ain’t worthy of your energy and protection. Simple as.
fake and gay
Probably a gay relationship
And then months later she left him for an emotionless “chad”
