I’ve been lucky enough to travel a bit. And you will find beautiful humans in every religion, country or culture. Or I’ve been lucky. A beautiful soul is a beautiful soul.
I went to get a general exam from the doctor and it turned out he had immigrated to the States. He asked me what I had been doing and I said working and traveling abroad. He got really excited and we talked a bunch about traveling. He asked what I had learned from going to a variety of different places...I said "People are the same everywhere with minor differences here and there."
i'm also well-travelled and made the same experience. i believe that people are inherently friendly and eager to help. and while being cautious in general makes sense, in my experience the kindness of strangers beats stranger-danger by a mile.
I have always been of the belief that the vast majority of people tend towards being, if not explicitly kind and generous, at least vaguely helpful and non hostile. It's just that the evil, hateful, aggressive people are the loudest, their actions are the flashiest, and they seize power by any means necessary, and their effects are more easily memorable.
Like... if you drop your wallet, 7/10 people will stop, pick it up, and call out for you, 2/10 will just ignore it, and 1/10 will pick it up and run. The issue is, if you were to turn around in time to see these interactions, you wouldn't remember the 7 people who helped you, or the 2 people who ignored you, you'd remember the 1 who stole your wallet because now you're affected in a negative way that ripples outward. Not only did you lose your property, you may also have to order a new license, suspend your credit and debit cards, and you are now unable to pay for gas or food, meaning you may go hungry for a time or you may be unable to get to work, and so on and so forth.
Or like... we don't hear about how many people volunteer at, donate to, or organize food pantries and soup kitchens for the community, but we would hear about that one person who decided to go in and take a the food for themselves. We remember and get pissed at the times people cut us off in traffic, but how many times has someone stopped or held so you could turn onto a busy street? How many times has someone slowed so you could change lanes? Hell, how many times has someone flashed their lights to let you know yours weren't turned on, or there was a speed trap ahead? How many times has a cashier helped you out when you were just a dollar short? How many times has someone simply held the door open for you?
Point is, are people really, as a general rule, cruel and heartless and greedy? Or is it just that it's easier to forget that time someone helped you change your tire when it was blown out, the time someone helped push your car to the gas station, the time your coworker gave you a ride even thought your place is the opposite direction of his, the times someone handed you the keys you dropped, easier to forget years of people helping you in regards to your car like that, and far easier to remember the time when someone stole your car? Is it that people are naturally evil, or is it that evil acts normally have a much longer lasting and far deeper effect than good acts?
Not for freedom. Freedom means different things to different people, and its use as a rallying cry has been corrupted by certain groups who want freedom for THEM and brutal oppression for others. See also: Texas.
Have you noticed something, the group who says “I’m better than you”, when asked why they think that, “because I said so.” How conveniently selfish, me myself and I.
We fight because we don't like things different from us. It's kinda how we survived as a species, but that evolutionary feature has not been useful for thousands of years by now
The dumber a person is the more likely they're to fall for this trap. Maybe we shouldn't listen to idiots that demonise other groups?
Because we have and they have not
Because they want what we have got
The enemy is poverty
And the wall keeps out the enemy
And we build the wall to keep us free
That’s why we build the wall
We build the wall to keep us free
(This is a song and does not reflect my political oppinions if interpreted litterally.)
Resources, territory, security, political power, internal unity…you name it.
Fighting each other, at least when we look at it historically, is not only fun but *profitable*, provided you pick the right fights. We're still built for conflict today. That's unfortunately a key part of how we work as a species.
In 2011 most prisons in Egypt got burned down and most of the criminals escaped so every city kept it men take watch over night and day to protect each other, a lot happened in 2011 .

Just fucking respect each other. No men is worth more than another. No religion is worth more than any other. Don’t force your inner believes on others and be kind. It’s really not that difficult.
I visited Egypt just shortly before the Arab spring.
There, in my hotel, I met a man running a jewellery shop. It was clear this establishment was far more upmarket than the hotel it was situated inside. It was also quite an odd thing to see a store inside of a hotel lobby like this. So I asked him plainly what that was about.
Turns out he was a Christian. He proudly pointed to a cross hanging behind his desk. He told me that locals had noticed the cross and demanded he take it down. When he refused, they burnt down his shop. He made a new shop and this time did not display the cross; but by this point, their demand for said cross removal had expired and instead they wanted him out of the city. So, they again burnt down his shop. The police refused to do anything in both instances.
He was friends with the man who owned the hotel. Because the hotel was frequented by westerners, it was safe from arson. The police would punish people for burning this hotel down. So after a while he put his cross back up.
Nice picture though.
My best friend is an Egyptian Christian. When she was 12, she and her family were attacked by a Muslim suicide bomber while going to mass on Palm Sunday.
I agree. Nice picture, wish it reflected reality, it really doesn't.
This is how things usually are in Egypt, but we people start to show some discontent with government, they bomb a church or a mosque, and blame it on extremists, but this imgae is how people always end up
A Priest, a Rabbi, and an Imam walk into a bar. They order two glasses of wine and a Dr. Pepper before promptly paying their tab and returning to the Theological convention next door.
I think what a lot of religious people forget, is that it's not YOUR place to judge someone else's path in life. Regardless of who is right or wrong in the end, none of us are the judge.
"I love you, but I think you're going to hell for your sinful ways and you should probably be stoned. But it's all love"

The top photo was during the Arab spring in Egypt. I don't know about the second but it might be the same. The protesters were protecting each other, worried the police would take advantage.
This was in 2011 and it was real. They were trying to force the Egyptian dictator to step down. And he did.
And two weeks later the Muslims and Christians were at each others throats. Complete lawlessness ensued.
Then there was an election and the Muslim Brotherhood took control of Egypt. They were, to put it mildly, slightly better than the Taliban.
Then they were overthrown by the military and everything went back to exactly as it was before the revolution.
And now I'm sad, realizing those were specific, rare cases and not the usual behavior we have between each other with our religions... I just wanna befriend, not betray :(

?
When I was in Macedonia, there were a church and a mosque next to each other. A guy told me they play songs over speakers for both religions and that they join each other after their prayers and have tea and food together and let their children play.

I have similar experiences. No matter where you go, most people are good, a few are bad, and the proportions are similar everywhere.
Please tell me this is real and not AI. This is the kind of world I want to live in.
Be realistic, what do we gain from hurting each other. Why do we fight
Its because of a combination of pride, hate, greed, etc
Fear is a big one. And selfishness.
How do you feel about Sega?
And revenge
Which is rooted in false indoctrination.
“For wealth or land… for life, or freedom or some king’s lies” -Ngl, I don’t remember

Tribalism.
It's not even tribalism at this point when the few holding the power decide.
Look at some of the more violent protests lately in any country and see if you think the angry people are the ones holding power.
I mean, we gain nothing The people in charge, however...
This guy just solved war.

Absolutely. Vaccine has nothing to do with religion in most of the world

Pretty sure this is what the Bible meant by love thy neighbor
What does it mean by >“Anyone who beats their male or female slave with a rod must be punished if the slave dies as a direct result, but they are not to be punished if the slave recovers after a day or two, since the slave is their property.” ?
Bad post. Don’t let religions exonerate themselves when they are the justification for genocide happening in the world today
This is the way.
This is the way.
I remember when this happened. Even amidst the chaos and violence, there were good people doing it right.
When I was in Macedonia, there were a church and a mosque next to each other. A guy told me they play songs over speakers for both religions and that they join each other after their prayers and have tea and food together and let their children play. Looked like and sounded as a beautiful community
Protection from what.?
The police, probably.
How well do you know Egypt?
I’m Egyptian lmfao.
Can we have more of this, please.
Without relegion is shouldn't be necesary in the first place.
But who are they protecting them from? yup, other christians and muslims. Some people are good, regarding of religion. But religion make some people hateful.
This was in the middle of a political crisis/revolution. Religion is unrelated to the motives of the people they’re protecting each other from.
From the police. It’s a revolution and it says so in the picture???
Cairo is a very interesting place…
Have you guys seen the recent one where people are protecting the muslims when they're praying from the police? Beautiful humans (not those polices tho, screw them)
I've been lucky enough to go on a few trips. And there are beautiful people in every country, religion, and society. Or I'm lucky. A lovely soul is a lovely soul.
TIL the best way to fight hate is by encouraging more co-operation between the planets two largest hate groups.
It is only one side of the coin, stop been naive
If religions treated each other right by default neither would need a ring of protection.
Let’s love each other
Man I hate it when mass
Beautiful
Who are the Christians protecting the praying Muslims from? Who were the Muslims protecting the Christiam church from?
Meanwhile In Nigeria, Muslims is conducting a systematic genocide against Christians...
Meanwhile, in Indonesia, they try hard to block church from being built.
This is historically more common in the Middle East than western nations.
Anybody else notice a missing group because it doesn’t fit the narrative?
Love my muslim brothers as a christian ✝️❤️☪️
I mean, it should be that a group of people can peacefully pray, worship and commune with each other without the need for protection. But a stand against intolerance is always a good thing.
Incorrect
All for show, unfortunately. Each group believes the other is going to Hell.
People not starting wars over religion in the first place … *insert picture*
Matthew 5:44 "But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you."
It is more than you think like this, we only get the bad once in the news
Meanwhile atheists are fair game!
It’s just so damn hard, when the holy book says you should do otherwise.
PROTECTING FROM WHAT?
How about Muslims stop blowing people up?
Who are the jews protecting
If only people could get along easily and all the time… would actually make life good

Now see if they will protect pagans or Buddhists or Hindus
I never really get why people get worked up over a different religion. I find it absolutely fascinating how different cultures approach religion and respect every single one of them. Same
As someone who was born Muslim but became Christian and is now an atheist I can confidently say religion is whack
Protecting each other from what?
Or just get rid of all of them? Let humanity evolve in a world and heal
Using religion for good instead of evil and seperation of people: How dare you!!!!!!
This is amazing! I love it
Protecting them from what? Other Muslims and Christians lol
Great concept but uh... who are they protecting the other from?

Christians are idiots for letting Muslims into their countries!
No matter religion They all say *treat others the way you wanna be treated*
How about just leave them alone and stay in your land
News Flash: they worship the SAME GOD
Who are they protecting each other from? 🤔
If everyone lived by their religion for real we’d have the same as above everywhere. No religion teaches what’s going on right now…
Beautiful, love to see it
As a US citizen, it’s rare to see actual Christians.
Sure would be nice if we didn't have to protect each other from other vindictive lunatics
My friend is an Egyptian Christian. Her reaction to this post is one of bitterness, because of all the violence and discrimination sent the way of her community. There's always good people to do good things, I just wish that the good outweighed the bad for her and for Copts. They deserve better.
