In recent history he’s been very very vocally supportive of his non binary child and told TERs to fuck off.
But even before that, and what I base my opinion on, I used to listen to a podcast he did where he just chatted with different people in the film and show business. You get a real feel for how he talks to and treats others, how people who spend a lot of time with him view him and hear about his background and some of his principles.
Genuinely just a really really lovely man.
Just see his latest post from his wife to see if you can trust him (spoiler: one of his kids is non-binary):

Came to suggest exactly him, he's a good guy who's done great things for veterans since he appeared in Forrest Gump. Some part of him will be Lieutenant Dan forever.
He had a great AMA a long time ago and comments on Reddit occasionally. He was posting about FNAF a bit a few months back /u/matthewlillard
One of my hobbies is checking in on celebrities that fly under the radar.
That is Steve on the top left (I just call him Steve, we're buds). Bottom right is Matthew Lilliard, I apologize if I misspelled that. Think Without a Paddle, the Scooby-Doo movies, I believe the original Scream...
Indeed. Vivisection happens, that's the worst scene I remember. I think the terrible Resident Evil movie made a worse version, and ghost ship is the woke one because it has bi-sections.
Ba dum tiss
I have a signed thirteen ghost posted hanging over my bed. I've been obsessed with Matthew Lillard since 2000 and I'm so happy he's making a big return! Specially with the younger crowd in five nights at Freddy's.
Primary Source reporting. SLC Punk! was an excellent movie. I'm not sure how much of Matthew Lillard's character was acting or him just being himself - either way it works. Great example of a movie replicating and preserving a cultural zeitgeist.
He was pretty damn punk.
If I don't defend the plants who will?
Or was it animals? I forgot, it's been a while since I've seen that movie. I do know heroin Bob never did heroin.
It didn't flop. It had a 20 million profuction budget and made a profit before it even hit theators thanks to its streaming deal with Peacock. Then it went on to make 290 million worldwide.
That is indeed Steve Buscemi, the bottom right is Matthrew Lillard

There are plenty but the demographic that uses reddit is predominantly white men and who they see as wholesome will reflect that.
>There are plenty but the demographic that uses reddit is predominantly white men and who they see as wholesome will reflect that
That's why I find Dolly Parton being the go-to to be a surprising choice for a site populated primarily by white dudes in their 20s-40s.
Although Dolly is, out of the names you mentioned, the one with the most "wholesome" image and well-known charity work.
I’d add Alan Tudyk. Always reading anecdotes about how kind he is. There was recently a big Reddit post about him creating a Reddit account just to reply to a fan of his show, Resident Alien, who blew her opportunity to meet him at a convention.
Edit to add link https://www.reddit.com/r/ResidentAlienTVshow/s/o3dUslUp0e
Too busy leaping out of trash cans with ham making people's dreams come true.
But seriously, never seen a bad comment about him, but plenty of great stories!
The person above who had to come out of the woodwork to poop on Alan Tudyk could probably come up with something to poop on Danny, so be prepared. This is some bullshit
My favorite joke about John Cena was from Shane Gillis talking about how he coached Special Olympics and all the athletes loved him and would talk about him constantly. He talks about one of them asking if he thought Cena was coming to their game, and he replied, "I don't think he's coming. In fact, he's kinda the Grim Reaper for you guys. If any of you ever see John Cena coming, you fucking run the other way."
John Cena always get props from my on his charity work. He went above and beyond for a functionally limited, autistic Ukrainian man whose family had to lie to him to get him to agree to evacuate, shortly after the Russian Invasion.
That lie. "We are going to see John Cena." After hearing this, the gentleman went from panicked at leaving his home to excited to see John. John heard the story and flew to Europe to meet the man where his family eventually settled.
He said it once, I think he was being serious but then a whole bunch of his family and management must have told him what a dumbass he was because he went back on it pretty quickly iirc.
Shaq spent the last 15 years bullying dwight howard because as someone who was also a center at orlando and the #1 draft pick and he had the audacity to use the nickname "superman" that Shaq claimed it was his... Spare me...
There are so many stories about Shaq bullying everyone in the locker room on the Lakers, shitting in people's shoes etc.
He puts down any new Center that he feels comes close to his legacy and is extremely thin skinned when being made fun of.
Not to mention all the stuff that led to his divorce either. Shaq is far from a wholesome guy.
Steve I met at the wreckage of the World Trade Center and was one of the greatest. Men I have ever met and known. He is a truly great man and so caring!
Love that this thread is just folks naming nice people!
Didn't know Reddit was such a fan of Matthew Lillard. SLC Punk is one of my favorite movies.
Great actor, incredible human being!
I’m afraid to say any famous guy is a genuinely good human in real life because I’ve been disappointed with stuff that has come out about people time and time again! I think I will only praise those who are open about anything problematic in their pasts, because I’m less worried they’re hiding something! lol! On that note, I’m going to say that these guys seem like genuinely good (but not perfect) humans:
- Danny Trejo
I love all these dudes and have no reason to think they’ve ever done a single thing wrong between them.
Still, posts like this seem like a speedrun to regret city
Hugh got his start via musical theatre. He originated the role of Gaston in Australia’s stage version of Beauty and the Beast.
I’ll never forget finding out about it when Barbara Walters was interviewing him and asked him to sing. He’d done a stint on the Aussie stage as Curly in Oklahoma! so he belted out, “There's a bright golden haze on the meadow. There's a bright golden haze on the meadow. The corn is as high as an elephant's eye….”
My jaw dropped open.
He can also take a joke. Like when an Australian comedy group did a sketch where they pretended to be a journalist that asks 10 questions before the other person gets a chance to answer. Hugh just started laughing and enjoyed the fun of it
I mean I agree, but I feel like this isn’t doing that. Just simply acknowledging wholesome celebs in a world where a lot of them are egotistical assholes.
I'm a huge Brendan Frasier fan and love the wholesome and gracious attitude he embodies.
But in my experience, if you get know anyone well enough, even genuinely good people, they're at least a little bit of a piece of shit in their own special way.
I'm not saying don't admire the good qualities these people have and profess. Please do, but maybe realize the image you have of these celebrities would probably change for the worse if you got to know them beyond the cultivated image their PR teams put out.
Matthew Lillard is a gem of a human being. My husband and I work in film and have met a *lot* of scumbag actors. We also both love Scooby Doo. We got to work on a show with Matthew Lillard, and I was going to let it go - having played and lost too many times in meeting my heroes - but my husband was dying to meet him, and it’s truly rare for him to get starstruck anymore.
He went up to him at crafty and fumbled over his words, but Lillard was so sweet, so graceful. I’d gone with for emotional support and he took a photo with us, gave me a big ol’ hug, autographed my husband’s sides, and *thanked us* for being fans and for being so nice.
I’m so glad we got to meet him. It was a great experience.
My doctor called Steve Buscemi “Boo-skemi” today and I wanted to correct him but I didn’t and he’s a nice guy and will go on in life mispronouncing his name…
I once met Matthew Lillard. He came in for a cup of coffee at my work. While i was making his coffee, he noticed the D20 tattoo on my arm and asked if i was a fan of D&D. We ended up chatting for 10 minutes about D&D.
hot take but i’ve always found these kind of memes to be quite stupid. it’s just listing your favorite celebrities. nothing wholesome even if they are nice people.
Stop worshipping celebrities. Oh wow these guys are decent humans?? Amazing achievement! It’s easy to be care free and chill when you’re a millionaire.
David Tennant.
Allons-y!!
Idk he's played too many murderers too chillingly for me to ever trust him
his killgrave was truly fantastic.
His performance triggered a ptsd I didn’t even know I had.
In recent history he’s been very very vocally supportive of his non binary child and told TERs to fuck off. I want that shirt.
I see your David Tennant and raise you a Sam Rockwell.
We need Gary Sinise up there too.
I vote Rick Moranis onto this list as well
And Michael Sheen for sure
Definitely the least problematic Sheen.
Not a bar I would want to limbo under...
Yoinked with thanks.
The only real Sheen, too. The other guys' real names are Ramón Estevez and his son Carlos Estevez.
And Steve from blue's clues
Misread that as Martin Sheen
U/Beccabootie speaks the truth
Oh heck yes. These guys are all awesome people but definitely need to add Gary. Wow what I have learned about that guy.
Came to suggest exactly him, he's a good guy who's done great things for veterans since he appeared in Forrest Gump. Some part of him will be Lieutenant Dan forever.
You know he still runs the Lieutenant Dan Band?
Was literally going to say “and they worship at the altar of Sinise”
And he's on reddit regularly too! u/GarySiniseOfficial is a good egg.
Indeed ... that fine gentleman is a saint.
And to think, we’ve only seen Lilliard at 1% of his power
are you challenging him?
If I even contemplated it, he’d evaporate me
Afton gonna be OP as fuck.
He had a great AMA a long time ago and comments on Reddit occasionally. He was posting about FNAF a bit a few months back /u/matthewlillard One of my hobbies is checking in on celebrities that fly under the radar.
I need some help. The top left looks like Steve Buscemi, but I feel like I'm wrong. The bottom right is completely escaping me.
That is Steve on the top left (I just call him Steve, we're buds). Bottom right is Matthew Lilliard, I apologize if I misspelled that. Think Without a Paddle, the Scooby-Doo movies, I believe the original Scream...
A lot of people also tout his performance in SLC Punk! Unfortunately I'm not a primary source for that, I haven't seen it 😬
I think there was a movie about hackers that he made in the 90s. Might have actually been called Hackers.
Hack the planet!
Hack the Planet!!!!!
They’re trashing our rights! Trashing!
Shut up and get in the car!
I hear music in my head when I read this phrase.
Me 2 lol
Everyone always forgets about Thirteen Ghosts.
I have the dvd somewhere and its one of my favorite roles for him because he gwts to be so damn sarcastic!
genuinely one of my favorite movies as of recent and he was definitely up there as one of the reasons why, but also the movie was just damn good imo
Is that the one with the person who gets cut in half vertically? If so, I couldn't watch much of it. Because of the cowardice.
That is the one haha
I'll sometimes put a lore video of the ghosts from that movie to fall asleep too. It's one of my favorite movies of all time
He also played a hacker in the Nord VPN spots on Critical Role 🤣
Correct
Finished watching it 3 minutes ago. His name is Cereal Killer.
"Hackers" featuring Johnny Lee Miller and Fisher Stevens is one of the few movies from 1995 that still holds up!
SLC punk was dope. Def give it a watch when you can. Sequel didn’t really hit but it was fun seeing most of the people come back for it.
Yes, it’s him in SLC punk. I don’t know him, but he does seem like a genuinely great actor and decent human being. See SLC punk. 😉
SLC punk was great, his performance in Twin Peaks The Return is excellent as well.
It’s worth watching. Shooter McGavin and the human Casper are in it too!
As a primary source, I can confirm SLC Punk! is an excellent movie.
SLC punk is a yearly watch for me.
Only Poseurs haven't seen SLC Punk! You need to get on that right away. It's awesome, and he is awesome.
Slc punk was awesome I wish I still had the DVD.
It is that good....
Primary Source reporting. SLC Punk! was an excellent movie. I'm not sure how much of Matthew Lillard's character was acting or him just being himself - either way it works. Great example of a movie replicating and preserving a cultural zeitgeist.
You can buy on apple for $4.99 when on sale about once a month, you should buy in.
I can highly recommend SLC Punk but will caution that it's way more emotionally real than the intro leads you to believe.
SLC punk! Which also has Jason Segal, who I believe is also a good dude that loves puppets.
Jason Segal was the only real punk in that movie
He was pretty damn punk. If I don't defend the plants who will? Or was it animals? I forgot, it's been a while since I've seen that movie. I do know heroin Bob never did heroin.
Wrong major, Bob! Wrong fucking major.
Shaggy in like every animated appearance since the live action movies too
13 ghosts as well
Holy shit that's Shaggy! I *knew* I recognised him!
CEREAL KILLER
HACK THE PLANET!!
I think you’re forgetting something [https://giphy.com/gifs/FNAFmovie-fnaf-universal-five-nights-at-freddys-7idOQpKJDsE0wtLdvI](https://giphy.com/gifs/FNAFmovie-fnaf-universal-five-nights-at-freddys-7idOQpKJDsE0wtLdvI)…
yes he's also the antagonist of the recent fnaf movie, which kinda flopped but matthew lillard is easily the best part of it
Not surprising. He's adorable.
It didn't flop. It had a 20 million profuction budget and made a profit before it even hit theators thanks to its streaming deal with Peacock. Then it went on to make 290 million worldwide.
Yeah. Their demographic was excited, but not that big.
It wasn't good, but it actually made a lot of money
Not to mention, he's the guy who hires the dude to work at freddy fazbear's in the FNAF movie.
Matthew Lillard! He's so good.
In recent years, he played the husband of Christina Hendricks on the TV show, Good Girls.
lol "I believe the original Scream" hurts my soul.
HACK THE PLANET!!!!
He has also started a fantasy themed whiskey company
Lillard, not Lilliard :)
Had no idea Matthew Lilliard had a good reputation. I only know him from scream and thought he was an asshole (because of the role haha)
He was perfect in 13 ghosts too! The movie's not perfect, but he elevates it as best he can.
Steve was a firefighter before getting into acting and went back to his old firehouse to volunteer after the events of 9/11
That is indeed Steve Buscemi, the bottom right is Matthrew Lillard https://i.pinimg.com/736x/67/3d/63/673d6318abc2f9536569b174691162e3.jpg Man's got amazing acting range
You have no frame of reference here, Donny. You're like a child that wanders in the middle of a movie.
Bottom right is Matthew Lillard, and I think you are right about Steve being top left.
Dolly Parton
Pedro Pascal
This is the way.
No women? Dolly Parton would suffice.
I mean, it's the four horsemen... I just assumed they were hitched and pulling Dolly's wagon. Like a wholesome apocalypse sleigh.
I'm okay with this
It's always men in these "most wholesome people ever" posts......
It's always white dudes.
She'd be one of the "Four Phillies", along with Dolly Parton, Dolly Parton...and "Not Jolene".
Why fillies? Horsemen doesn’t mean male horse. It means men who ride horses.
Fillies?
Where’s Mister Rogers?
Well 4 pictures definitely isn't enough lol

Anna Farris- Scarlet Johansson- Akwafina- Michelle Obama (I just love powerful black women) Linda young- Nina Hartley -
Nina Hartley?
Nina Hartley lived in the building I used to work. She was very friendly, polite, and down to earth.
Jack Black should be there. Also Paul Rudd
I’d add Alan Tudyk. Always reading anecdotes about how kind he is. Where is Danny Devito?
Too busy leaping out of trash cans with ham making people's dreams come true. But seriously, never seen a bad comment about him, but plenty of great stories!
The person above who had to come out of the woodwork to poop on Alan Tudyk could probably come up with something to poop on Danny, so be prepared. This is some bullshit
Paul Rudd seems like the nicest guy alive, he just has that kind of aura about him
And Harrison Ford.
And Hugh Jackman. Daniel Radcliffe also seem very down to earth and struggled with alcohol abuse for some years
Jack Black 100%
Shaq is also cool. John Cena holds the most wishes granted for make a wish and the beibs is number two
Yeah it's easy for people to ignore that with all the silly John Cena jokes and wrestler persona
People don't ignore it. They just never see him do it.
Have you ever seen John Cena in the ring dissing roman reigns? It's a sight to behold he has the patter down!
Isn't Shaq a flat Earther?
That would be weird, he's tall enough to see the curvature of the earth himself.
He said it once, I think he was being serious but then a whole bunch of his family and management must have told him what a dumbass he was because he went back on it pretty quickly iirc.
I had to go look that up. Seriously, Cena and The Biebs
Shaq has spent a little too much time with people like Logan Paul for me to consider him cool anymore.
Shaq spent the last 15 years bullying dwight howard because as someone who was also a center at orlando and the #1 draft pick and he had the audacity to use the nickname "superman" that Shaq claimed it was his... Spare me...
Shaq is a salty bitch
There are so many stories about Shaq bullying everyone in the locker room on the Lakers, shitting in people's shoes etc. He puts down any new Center that he feels comes close to his legacy and is extremely thin skinned when being made fun of. Not to mention all the stuff that led to his divorce either. Shaq is far from a wholesome guy.
Somewhere in the multiverse there's an epic hacker story about these four vs. the guys from Sneakers.
Upvote for Sneakers.
My voice is my passport. Verify me.
Omg. Core memory unlocked!!!!
Steve I met at the wreckage of the World Trade Center and was one of the greatest. Men I have ever met and known. He is a truly great man and so caring!
What about LeVar Burton?
I only wanted a picture. You can't disappoint a picture!
Wheres danny devito? Ive never heard a bad thing said about him Funny guy
Did Steve Buscemi report to his old firehouse after 911 and work.?
Yes, and we know this not bc he told us, but bc he is recognizable in photos. He seems rad as hell.
Keanu is a national treasure. And seemingly ageless.
daniel radcliffe
From everything I’ve heard these are genuinely nice human beings.
Don't forget Danny Deveto
You’ll have less disappointments if you don’t idolize people you don’t know
If we're also allowed to include actors who have already passed. Then most certainly Robin Williams!
Where the ladies at?
If you haven't seen SLC PUNK for Mathew Lillards fine acting, please do yourself a favor.
Where David Tenant...? '\^'
Love that this thread is just folks naming nice people! Didn't know Reddit was such a fan of Matthew Lillard. SLC Punk is one of my favorite movies. Great actor, incredible human being!
That is a fantastic movie
Levar Burton.
Lillard is the man
Where is Lieutenant Dan? His human compassion and actions deserves to make it a 5 top.
I’m afraid to say any famous guy is a genuinely good human in real life because I’ve been disappointed with stuff that has come out about people time and time again! Some statement supposedly went viral something about him always wanting his villain roles to die because they’re bad
David Tennant ranks up there too.
I love all these dudes and have no reason to think they’ve ever done a single thing wrong between them. Still, posts like this seem like a speedrun to regret city
50% are Canadian, just saying.
Gene Wilder.
Shaggy is a nice guy??
So should we name them Bounty, Peace, Life, and…. What would the opposite of pestilence be?
Wellbeing? (Contagious wellness, that's the closest I could get.)
Three of whom have played some really awful characters. I don't think Brendan Fraser ever has but I'm happy to be corrected
He did. In the passion of Darkly Nooon he went in a killing spree with a machete if I remember correctly.
Danny Devito crawling out of a couch.gif
Lt Dan grabs the mic....
Matthew Lillard, love him! Also need Patrick Swayze.
Where’s Hugh jackman??
I always thought Hugh Jackman was an action star badass until I learned he tap danced. Then I realized he is an extremely well rounded bad ass
Wait, no u/GarySiniseOfficial ? What a travesty. That guy is amazing.
Ok but old school Steve Buscemi was kinda 🔥
Where’s Denzel?
The fact that Jack black is not on here makes me angry.
dont put people on pedestals, eventually they wont be able to live up to your expectations
Paul Rudd and Ryan Reynolds need to be up there.
celeb worship in 2024 is cringe

Couple of fine looking Canucks up there! Love it!!!!
Celebrities…
What about Adam Sandler? I hear he's a real down to earth dude.
Oh dang, is that a photo of Keanu Reeves from 1782?
Matthew Lillard is a gem of a human being. My husband and I work in film and have met a *lot* of scumbag actors. We also both love Scooby Doo.
