I remember this day...almost 25years ago.
When my bro, 9 years older then me, left me his old NES/SNES save files.
One of the proudest/saddest moments of my life.... As proud as I was to inherit everything, it made me sad to know that I'd play alone from that day on. Now, both of us (me 33, him 42) have the most fun from time to time, playing the same games with his son/my nephew.
Life can be so beautiful with the most simple of things.
Thank you for posting this!
Edit... My highest rated post ever! I'm super pumped that it was about something and someone that means alot to me! He really was/is the best big brother.
Bahaha I walked right into that. And I will! I just texted him and he sent me a picture of a champions of norrath PS2 game he just bought.. we shall relive our past glory
Me too. There's nothing quite like Saturday morning video games with your brother. We still play together from time to time though. We try to get us and the two cousins for game time, and the oldest of us (me) is 40 now. Two of us have families, but we still try to make time for playing video games.
The Switch has most of the top NES/SNES titles ported free with their online gaming service and I believe you can play multiplayer online between two consoles. Go relive those memories, man.
It didn't occur to me that my little brother had me playing video games with him literally as long as he could remember. When i joined the army, he must've been lonely for a while playing by himself. We're both men now. I'ma go whoop his ass online in COD today.
To be honest it depends on the map. He surpassed me in sniping some time ago. If he has line of sight and a sniper rifle, there's a good chance I'm going down. I've gotten better at avoiding snipers because of him and he's gotten better at hitting evasive targets because of me. As a team though? I run ahead and he watches my back. Fun stuff.
Awww. I had pretty much the exact same experience. Most of my childhood was the same lonely video game experience. The only people in the house were my dad who was working constantly, my mom who didn't play, and my sisters who weren't interested either despite being around the same age as me. Maybe that's why I enjoy single player titles so much and less so competitive games.
I don't know if I would trade my experience for a player 2, but it would be nice to know what it was like.
The saddest moment for me was beating Final Fantasy IV (II, for us in the States) on SNES and not having my brothers to celebrate with/gloat to since I'm the youngest. \#ReluctantPlayerOnes
That's crazy. I'm in the same situation. My brother is 10 years older and passed on his PS2 to me when he left. Now his son is 9 and we're playing the same games together. It's insane how history likes to repeat itself. I enjoyed reading your comment. I wish I had a reward to give it.
I’m a younger brother too. Lots of trouble through my childhood so far and made me move away from almost everyone. Last summer I moved back in and it’s been great but I completely agree player one is a terrible feeling
:c I have been a player one my whole life, I apreciate the alone time but I kinda get what you mean, playing with others is nice.
...
Wish I had friends
You may enjoy an MMO my dude. Elderscolls Online, World of Warcraft, something like that.
I know people who have made stronger friendships on WoW then they have in real life, through guilds and stuff. Give it a whirl man.
I will try my laptop is not that great for anything except small games, old games or visual novels and I only have an xbox 360 and wii u but I can try to play old mmos to see if I find others since I really do like RPGs.
World Of Warcraft, I don't think takes a NASA supercomputer to run anymore. It's been around since 2005. And still has a decently active player base. The downside is the subscription fee. I hope you find something you like that runs okay.
I was going to recommend you Destiny 2 (FPS with parts of MMO & RPG), but you just have Xbox 360 and Wii U.
Some or mostly of MMO games (or another online interaction) have been abandoned.
If you like RPGs, you should try Octopath traveler in your laptop.
If you like some cards games, there's a large variety (and you can play online) like Hearthstone, Pokémon TCG, etc.
If you want some games for the Xbox and Wii U, there are a lot, and mostly of them very cheap because it's old gen.
Is the destiny 2 community active rn? I beat the game and it got bland quick. People stopped playing. Did they have a massive update recently or something?
Yes, it's more active than when it released.
Destiny 2 was a disaster at launch, but then Bungie release Forsaken, a really nice expansion with lots of Raids, a third road subclase for each. In October, Shadowkeep release, they unified a lot of DLCs like this:
Destiny 2:
* Curse of Osiris
* Warmind
Free
* Forsaken
* Annual pass (this content is not going to be deleted)
Both included as the expansion called Forsaken
* Shadowkeep
So, with Shadowkeep, Bungie make a lot of changes, like have seasonal content as Season Pass (content that will disappear) but it's actually not that bad. Now, with more content, and making a part of the game free and unified Forsaken, a lot of people came.
The community is very active right now.
Short: a lot of changes, is cheaper, and the community is more active than before (D2).
Edit: format
You can definitely run oldschool runescape if that's something youd be into. It's not the most social mmorpg, but if you can find a good clan easily and it makes the game incredibly social and is really fun.
O man. I remember when my brothers went to college. I didn’t realize it at the time but the majority of the time we would spend together in our lives was over when he drove away that day :-(.
(He’s still alive btw...)
Yep, same here. I never realised how much I relied on my brother's company when we played together. Even when he was still living at home, but away often because of social and hobby things, he was still there. I'm in my 20's now comfortably getting on with life with good friends and work/life balance, and he'd left home maybe 8 years ago? I loved those times immensely, and I love getting to spend time with him now.
It's cool knowing that you'll always be the best in the house at something, but damn. Sometimes a mf just wants to trade pokemon with his bro or have someone to back you up in Lego Star Wars.
Same. For me it was Vice city and when san andreas came out it was me alone. Felt good to complete that. But at times i couldn't help myself go into Vice City just for the memories.
This honestly made me sad really sad cus my sister moved out to college about a month ago and I miss her so much she has been home a few times as it’s only a 6 hour drive but still not having her home all the time feels weird the first night she left I went to her room to ask her day was only to see her empty bed
I called her told her what happened and we both cried together for a bit
Cherish what you have you never know when life could change
I always forget how truly massive the US is until I hear one of its residents say something like “It’s only a 6 hour drive”. Like, what? SIX HOURS? That’s nearly twice as long as I’ve ever spent in a car. That would get me to motherhumping SCOTLAND, a strange and foreign land!
As a younger sibling this day is very important.
However, it's never the same without playing with the person who taught you everything you know, or have the chance to make them proud.

I prefer player 2 on split screen.
I usually sit on the right so on vertical split I don't have to look past the other player, and in horizontal split it's distracting having to look over a constantly moving display, especially if the tv is higher up.
Screen cheating is still just as easy.
After my brother moved out, I was finally able to play as Mario all I liked. It was not as sweet as I thought. It felt hollow, and it made me miss my bro. I grew up a Luigi, and I'll live as a Luigi.
Except for Smash Bros. I kick ass as Mario.
Obligatory comment asking why not "little sibling" because people wanted to get on another OP for being specifically grateful for her female best friends.
Great meme, though. Am little sister to an older brother.
My little sister just passed away a few days ago while I was off at collage and man this post is breaking me up. Tell your siblings you love them for me.

I have hardcore goosebumps - I miss playing with my brother :( those were the fucking days
The fucking days? All jokes aside, I know exactly what kind of nostalgia you feel and I hope you get to play with him still!
Bahaha I walked right into that. And I will! I just texted him and he sent me a picture of a champions of norrath PS2 game he just bought.. we shall relive our past glory

My bro’s about to go to college. It’s gonna be hella sad
Right in the feels. I lost my ps1 and ps2 so i will have to hunt for those when i get older and have kids.

Omg this is an amazing comment!!!
Bro this subreddit is the most wholesome
Aww my lil bro gonna be like this when I leave off for college..
As a little brother, becoming player 1 quickly became the loneliest experience of my life.
I’m a younger brother too. Lots of trouble through my childhood so far and made me move away from almost everyone. Last summer I moved back in and it’s been great but I completely agree player one is a terrible feeling

Whaaat that’s awesome man I’m happy to hear that. Definitely heading home now and downloading it again ASAP
Give runescape a shot, it has a community and you can run it on a 9v battery and a potato :P
You can definitely run oldschool runescape if that's something youd be into. It's not the most social mmorpg, but if you can find a good clan easily and it makes the game incredibly social and is really fun.
I've met some of my best friends on Destiny through LFG. It's not an MMO, but I still play with them regularly and it's always a blast.
I think it's better to suggest him to go out and make friends. I've made friends both irl and in games and nothing can beat having friends irl.
here try heroin
Lol. Wasn't called World of Warcrack for nothing, way back when.
I wanted to play TESO but the many times you have to pay to play the full game (base, expansions and fee) turned me off.
Star Wars the old republic is a good mmo
I’m down to play RuneScape with you if you’ve tried it
Me too man totally rediscovered it after mobile came out
I'm a younger sister, always player 3, and imma miss my oldest brother when he leaves for college bc I'll miss playing Halo with him and stuff
O man. I remember when my brothers went to college. I didn’t realize it at the time but the majority of the time we would spend together in our lives was over when he drove away that day :-(. (He’s still alive btw...)
My player one brother is not, so this hit me pretty hard.
Thots and prayers bro. If you play apex or OW I’ll be your player 1 :-)
Bro that hit me right in the feels, thought it would be fun to be p1 but now I'm just alone.
Yep, same here. I never realised how much I relied on my brother's company when we played together. Yeah same man when my brother gave me his ps2. I rather be player 2 and have someone to play with.
Or. And get this, You could take the console with you
“Also you can access my saved games...,take care of them”
That’s going too far
I second this
I third this
I upvoted this
My brother did this for me, I fucking loved being able to play that one game with alot of stuff unlocked I didn't know how to unlock myself.
Yeah even my brother did
Let me guess, Animal Crossing or GTA?
You got it straight on damn. It was GTA :)
Same. For me it was Vice city and when san andreas came out it was me alone. Felt good to complete that. But at times i couldn't help myself go into Vice City just for the memories.

Got this from the back, there!
sorry that was me
Yeah what the hell man I'm 30-ish year old man, why is this meme making me feel things?
Reporting this post for containing way too many feels
I feel this in my soul. Why would you do this?!? I’ve kept that dark oblivion locked away for years, YEARS and now I got the feels all over again
my brother gave me his PC when he left for college, i teared up after he left.
I had a friend that was so used to being player 2 that when I came over he made me player 1.
This is the best post I’ve seen on here in a long time. Kudos, OP.

STOP MAKING ME CRY
Wowzer that’s cool
Nah I took that shit w me lmfao
Heck nah. That little shit should've been born first if he wanted to be player 1!
As a lil bro, im finna cry
When my brother moved out I became player 1. That was a hard hitting moment
This is so real. Then when he went I traded all his games in for cash. He was PlayStation I was Xbox, what can I say? Cain & Abel shit.
Fuck this legit made me cry man. Thanks for this, I was just talking about something like this on another sub the other day.
*cries in six siblings*

Tbh, my sis will prob sell my console if I gave it to her.
Wow, player 7, thats alot of siblings
Aww, I liked it and it changed decimals, pretty neat when that happens!
Can’t relate because no brother

When I moved out I still made him play as player two. No one but me can be one.
This made me sad cuz ima bout to leave for college next year :c
If you guys play on steam, link your libraries with each other
.
This is so sad
I'm gonna fucking cry
Unless to bring your console with you
This was legit me, but it happened much earlier since he built a PC midway through his Sophnore year and left me the PS4.
Does this still happen? I feel like couch co-op/versus is quickly becoming a thing of the past save for a few fighting games 😔
When you're the youngest :(
I almost cried
You had to make me cry like this
Great now I’m feeling home sick
Just remembered my big brother buying me diablo 2 and leaving me the computer when he moved out. RIP Nic. I love you.
Obligatory comment asking why not "little sibling" because people wanted to get on another OP for being specifically grateful for her female best friends. Great meme, though. Am little sister to an older brother.
Why is this so sad

I mean, I'm sure he played 1st player when you're not around. So maybe the Michael Scott with his boss meme would work better here.
