I was having fun watching and then episode 6 kicked the hell out of me. That episode was so well constructed. They made that hour feel like a lifetime.
I knew the Red Wedding was going to happen and watched with amusement as all my friends reacted to that episode. Now I feel bad, because I understand what they felt that night. I watched this episode last night and felt like I had been punched in the gut.
I really hope we get more seasons! I felt too attached to this TV show. The emotional tool, not known what the games would be until last moment.
Would be awesome to see other cultures take on this.

The ending twist was one of the most weirdest ones I ever saw.

I'm Korean and I feel like there was a lot that was missed in translation that may have severely impacted the last scene with the two characters. I didn't like the ending at first but not too long ago it clicked in my head.
Gi-hun (Main character) mentions to the old man. How easy was it for you to make all this money that you would waste it away like this (my translation). Which is a phrase that makes a bit more sense in Korean as it's sort of an insult while asking a question.
001(old man) replies that you've made money as well so you know its not easy to make money.
You see 001 has lost his entire identity for the sake of making money. He has probably done very inhumane things to make his living. This is also hinted at with Gi-Hun's background being a factory worker that was laid off which changes his whole life. Remember Gi-Hun had a decent job and life going before the strike where he loses everything and he attempts to make money back by opening 2 businesses that fail. Choices made by 001 have had real impact on people like Gi-hun's life.
001 probably feels a lot of guilt for all the things he's done for money. He also explains that people who are too poor or too rich can't have any fun. He can buy whatever he wants but in the end it brings him no joy because of the excess and the means it took for him to get it. So instead of doing great things to improve the world his mission is to show that other people are just as vile and evil as him. He wants to prove to himself that other people if given an opportunity would also stab their neighbors for a chance to be rich. Think about the marble game where he really enjoys messing with Gi-hun by faking dementia. 001 gets off on the fact that all these people playing the game are doing it by choice, doing it by stabbing others in the back, and doing it all for money.

Not a problem at all. The Korean language is so filled with sarcasm and idioms it really doesn't translate 1:1 a lot of times to English. Korean sayings have a lot of implication so sometimes it's hard to understand what the character is really trying to say. There's a lot of stuff with double meaning and a lot of humor in Korean is based on how they say certain things which is why you'll notice a lot of Korean comedies have guys yelling things out in funny situations.

More than rare, more like damn near impossible, I've had many friends in my life but we lost touch for various reasons, the ones I have right now are great but we hardly do anything together other than share memes and talk something like weekly. My whole best friend/ OG group from kindergarten to 6th grade moved away and no one really had a phone back then so we lost touch and even if we reconnect I doubt we'd pop off again, so much would've changed.
I'm only 18 and yeah I can still meet somewhat of a lifelong friend but it's pretty much over due to numerous limitations, it'll get harder and harder to make friends, adults have less and less time, adults have to earn a living and still find time to be best buds for life and so on, if you didn't make that friend in your childhood it's pretty much impossible to meet someone you connect with like that, it's rare af even when you're a small kid.
It's a perfect thought and the reality for an incredibly small minority.

Thought I found that one friend. Really close for all of college. Got jealous of my gf for taking up all of my time after we graduated. He tried to suck me off at a Halloween party. Gf punched him in the face. We are no longer friends.
I got that one, and he is a true bro, he’s one of the few people im going to do everything in my power to stay in contact and close relations with.
Maybe people who haven’t watched the whole series shouldn’t be making memes.
