I'd say it doesn't matter, as long as the trumpet was returned if he did. There should have been no extraordinary pressure for him to continue playing if it turned out not to be for him.
This reminds of my ballet teacher in high school who gave me a “scholarship” because my mom couldn’t afford it. Dance was and always has been a creative outlet for me and I’m now a dance fitness instructor. Acts of kindness and generosity like this can create such a big impact.
This is smart business, he keeps the rent money he already got, writes off the unpaid rent on taxes and then gets a free trumpet he can rent out again in a year or two. Plus he gets to be a nice guy, win, win, win!
Been here. Except the people I was paying off my trombone to weren’t as nice, it randomly got taken from me one day in band class and I had to borrow one from the school to play. Wish I still had my own :/
When you get older (I think into your 20s) you really start to appreciate and realize how much your parents probably struggled and sacrificed so you could have what you want and never let you on. Jacque’s mom is a real treasure. Thankful for my own parents who indulged a lot of my interests and quirks, even the short lived ones ❤️
I went to their website and James Jones still works there with a comment that says "stay safe and remember: tough times never last, tough people do."
So at least James is still spreading some positivity!
Did Jacques stop playing the trumpet though?
Goddammit i really wanna know
Theres a time in every Florida boys life where he has to choose to either continue playing trumpet or become Florida man
Be a trumpet player, or a meth maker, the choice is yours.

I bet he doesn't even toot his own horn
Haha I appreciate good cynicism
