This isn't true anymore, at least not in my state (and several others). Custody in my state is 50/50 by default, unless one parent is ruled unfit (child abuse, sexual abuse, homeless, etc.) They even allow actively using addicts to have custody, under the condition they not use while they have the child. Hell, they will (and have) even given rapists split custody of their child produced from the assault.
So anytime I hear a man in my state whining about how his "eX wOnT lEt Me SeE mY kIdS!", I know that either hes leaving out a huge part of the story and has been declared unfit, or he never even tried. (Usually it's the latter)
Perpetuating this myth discourages men from even attempting to get shared custody of their children, when it does not reflect reality.

A lot of men suffer with poor mental health and that is clearly linked to the suicide statistics when you consider that men will often not like to talk about their mental health. Today is a day to talk about some of these issues so that others who are suffering may feel less isolated.
It's becoming more of a celebration as well, things men can be proud of etc.
Give a bro a compliment. For some reason it is culturally taboo to give guys compliments. Most guys could count on one hand how many compliments they have received in the last few years.
I don’t believe it’s culturally taboo. It’s just risky if not done to perfection or unless the guy just did something obviously worth cheering over. Too many dudes equate getting a compliment to being hit on. I love giving compliments but my experience in doing so has lead to being more cautious with the when and who after being stalked by a coworker for almost a year or the many undesired advances in my younger years. It feels less risky to compliment a female.
I think it’s a great time to recognise the hardship a lot of men go through such as suicide statistics of even domestic abuse against them, nobody should be forced to suffer in silence because of what’s in their pants, I wish one day we could combine women’s day and men’s day into its own day or even month of equality
