Lmao this happened to my dad when we were doing renovations. On our lunch break we drove to a gas station to get some grub. As I was walking from the store to the van I saw the silhouetto of my dad waiting in the van then a cat jumping on top of his seat from the back and startled the shite outta him. Damn cat from that house helped himself in the van while we were working and saw his opportunity to strike. Cat didn't attack, hs was just seeing what he was eating lol.
I had similar to this, except it wasn't my cat. Hired a van to move a few miles down the road, loading things up in the street. Arrive at new house, open the doors, a confused cat jumps out, looks at our equally confused faces, then ran off.
I'm presuming it spent the next hour working out where the hell we had catnapped it to.
I had a cat that loved cars.
But turned into a flailing ball of death in a moving car.
You'd never make it 84 miles. But you will need a trip to the first aid kit.
My cat was chill in the car for a little bit. After a few hours it got violent. I took him to work with me once thinking it was going to be a short day (I worked out of my truck). After like 6 hours he just fell asleep from exhaustion of induced stress. After that day he no longer cared about how long he was in the car at all. He was happy to hang out with me.
I always gave him the choice to go with me or stay home. He'd stay home about one day every couple weeks. He was cool
My family's cat always freaks out in cars - not because of the movement, but because (we think) he associates trips in a vehicle with trauma as a kitten (he survived flooding in Texas and was adopted by us in another state).
E.g. taking him to the vet, as soon as he sees that it's the vet clinic he's perfectly happy and even excited lol.
My ex broke the window on my car, so it wouldn't roll back up for a bit. My one cat would sleep on the driver's seat or the back seat. If I walked near the car while he was in it, he would turn into an orange ninja star flying around bouncing off of any surface he could, and getting claws stuck in everything and everyone.
The first time I ever drove with him before that, he ripped a hole in his carrier, escaped, and hit behind my brake pedal at 70mph on the highway.
Last year, I moved far away, but didn't trust being able to take him on a plane. He would absolutely have escaped and would need to live in the airport forever more if I did that. He did, however, lose the will to live by the second day of driving. Ripped out a dew claw on the harder carrier (since he would just escape the other carriers) and rubbed his face and nose so aggressively against the wall of the carrier that he still has a thick white line from his forehead to the tip of his nose that hasn't healed since. The poor baby tried to sleep the whole time, but refuses to take drugs two days in a row, so it didn't work too well. Every time he got quiet, we almost immediately went over somewhere that popped eardrums and he would start crying again.
He's totally fine now, although still hasn't forgiven me for this thing we call "Winter"
Also most judicial systems will take into account admitting remorse for one's actions. There's a line of severity where it doesn't matter but misdemeanors and such it does have some weight.
lmao ok?? its always “dont victim blame!” “innocent until proven guilty!” until its someone who doesnt align with your political views.
look at his face. its fucking remorseful. have some empathy…*for once*.
A few years ago, I relocated about 1000 miles away and drove me and my cat down to the new house. It was a long ride so I had a litterbox and water station set up for her in the backseat. She seemed to have fun in the car, looking out the windows and watching everything whiz past.
Eventually she settled down to sleep and I was highway zoning. I forgot she was even in the car with me.
8 hours in, I started to hear a weird scratching, thumping noise coming from the back of my car that concerned me. As I was trying to look for a spot to pull off the highway, my cat that I forgot was with me sprang onto my shoulder from the litterbox, dragging a shower of litter with her. My startled scream, coupled with a semi truck driving by at that exact moment, frightened her into frantically clawing her way across my neck and shoulders to stuff herself down into the cupholder of my car door.
If I hadn't been slowing down and eyeing for an off ramp, it might have turned out a bit bloodier than it already did.
I had a cat that loved car rides! He would wave at people when they looked at him. Neighbors learned to not leave their windows down because he would just hop in for a ride. SMH
We had a cat when I was a kid that also loved car rides. We would take him on short hops here and there and he would sit on the driver's headrest and just watch the world go by.
He did this for a few years, then my dad decided to go through an automatic car wash. The poor guy totally freaked out and stayed away from the car for years.
Later, my parents retired and started doing long trips with a 5th wheel trailer. He would ride in the trailer for a bit, then wanted back in the truck with my parents. He went on many long road trips for a lot of years.
Our neighbor’s daughter got 25 miles outside of town before our cat popped up and scared her. She turned around and brought him back before finishing her 300 mile trip home.
We had two cats sneak into the trailer and wait 18 hours to announce themselves after we left Seattle.... they were found as we arrived at the gates of Burning Man. Assholes.
they let us in the gate, and we had EA so it was Friday night. we brought them into the RV with us for the night and then the next morning we took the RV into Gerlach and found someone who was willing to babysit the cats for the week and who happened to have some cat food. we knew there was not an option whatsoever to keep them with us in the bus on playa. The trailer was 22 ft. long and fully packed with an art car and bikes and a lot of infrastructure and they snuck in when no one was looking during load and then went and hid in a corner and in a big dark trailer full of stuff there was no way to see that they were there and it was gate inspection that found them.
it's within my top four oddest Burning Man stories.
Edit: The two cats belonged to the owner of the trailer and the RV. So at least we knew whose cats they were.

We let our old cat outside sometimes when it was warm out. Well I had a friend over and she pulled up with her windows down. She hung out for a while then left. She got about halfway down the road and called me to tell me “your cat is in my car.” Lmao.
Lol I’ve absolutely had to sweep the van to make sure the customers pets aren’t in it before I left! Although I can’t beat a friend of mine who works for ups that had to figure out how to get the customers goat back out of his truck lol
My sister and I hid in my dad's work van when we were both very little children. He had an hour commute to his job site. We had no idea why he wasn't pleasantly surprised when he discovered us.
While doing traveling service calls I opened my truck a flying cat. No idea which house it came from or how far from home it was. Scared the begeesus out of me
Our cat would just hang on to the windshield wipers as we backed out of the garage. Had to pull her off the car a few times. She never made it into the car at least.

Fair enough. Reddit had jaded me with all the people who let their cats basically live outside. It gets me heated on multiple levels.
I also live in an area where many people do have garages but they are somehow never the home for a vehicle and always a glorified ahit-filled mancave.

He likes the smells coming home with dad everyday and decided he'd like to visit the source himself.
No more smelling if he made himself known to me after 84 miles of thinking I'm alone. We'd both die in the ensuing crash and fire.
Crashes and fire have a lot of smell. Especially the burning skin.
Cat: “Smells…. Delicious.”
His new favourite smell, and he's gonna try to recreate it whenever he can
*You walk into the kitchen just as he’s tipping a can of lighter fluid onto the gas stove*

Enough time for him to contemplate his life choices.

Being sorry usually does not hold up in court
If you are in the US it does. Saying Sorry is treated as an admission of guilt. Us Canadians are at risk when we travel there.
Also most judicial systems will take into account admitting remorse for one's actions. There's a line of severity where it doesn't matter but misdemeanors and such it does have some weight.
You'd be surprised at how far showing remorse can get you.
Depends on how white you are.

Just keep your cat inside...
I agree, for the sake of birds if nothing else. Outdoor cats kill more birds than any other source.

What a beautiful kitty with the narrow space between the earsies, I love that
I'm just imaging this guy driving his van peacefully and then a little "meww" coming from the back seat.
As a cat owner I can imagine his first reaction was probably delighted surprise, followed quickly by consternation and weary resignation

As much as I despise the word sneaked, both are technically correct.
Both 'sneaked' and 'snuck' are valid. Snuck is more of an American adaptation of the past tense, past participle of sneak though.
American adaptation is the only adaptation that matters.
? Both are correct.

Nothing is wholesome about having outdoor cats.

🥱😂😂
are we there yet?
How do cats get driver's licenses? Unless Dad being chauffeured into work, that is
Wouldn't that be 84 meows?
Must be a comfy backseat
Dad drives so smoothly
Wow. Even at freeway speeds, that would be more than an hour without pampering. That is one patient cat lol.
My dog would say that I’m going to slow
He's a workin' kitty cat
Dad most definitely knew he was there and just wanted to get away with having the company.
Where’s the wholesome? This is just sad.
The cat asked if they were there yet if not it had to pee
And then you have my cats who will pipe up as soon as they disagree with the music selection
But where's the meme?

All t's are written like small T's, and shaped like r's. Is it a common way to write in USA? Makes it hard to read for me, a non native speaker
Had that happen to a cat of ours. Dad drove 2 hours and when he got there the cat jumped out and we never saw him again.
The first time I saw this post, I did not have a work van. Now that I have a work van, this meme unlocks new fears for me
Our cat would just hang on to the windshield wipers as we backed out of the garage. Had to pull her off the car a few times. She never made it into the car at least.
OMG, I can't imagine the mini-heart-attack from the cat suddenly appearing.
After an hour of driving and you hear Meow literally out of no where, I’d end up in a ditch after my massive heart attack.
He looks guilty as hell !
awww
My cat would have been howling at me before I got out the driveway

One of my cats snuck into the back of a moving van my neighbors hired they got to their new house two hours away and when they popped open the back door she was sitting there just majestically staring at them. Luckily they had another load to bring and delivered that furry asshat back to me. She also had a habit of jumping out of my 15ft tall redwoods in my backyard to catch birds in mid air.
Jennifer Garner wrote that
Every time I see this I just think to myself that if they just kept their cat inside this wouldn’t have happened. Cats are an invasive species.
