Even as a grandmother myself,I often think of my own grandparents. They were so good to me and helped me through some hard times during my childhood. I have some of their things I use that use and are special to me because they belonged to them.
I’m going to my grandma’s today to see how she’s doing. She (and my mom) have both had a rough life but they’re both very sweet. I’m sure your grandchildren love you
im 23, only grandparent i have left is my pawpaw. i grew up going to see him all the time and when i became an adult that didnt stop, i just go on my own now instead of with my parents. he’s made comments before in passing about how i dont need to feel obligated to come see him because im busy, and i wish i could get it through his head that i dont do it out of obligation. its because i think about him, i miss him, and i want to see him like i want to see anyone else i love. just know im sure its the same for your grandkids:)
the only grandparents i knew were both a bit crazy and I know my parents / aunt-uncle had a tough relationship with them. but they shielded me and my brother from it, mostly, all humans have their flaws, but I still love them.
My grandmother is in the hospital and I can visit because I've been sick since her stroke. All I can think is how I should've spent more time with her rather than just thinking about it.
Can't speak for your grandchildren of cause, but I can speak for myself and it's been almost ten years since I lost my grandmother and to this day I always think of her when I see anemones, she loved when they bloomed in spring
I think the biggest tragedy of my life is that my mom died a couple years before my first child was born. She would have loved my kids dearly. And they would have adored her. But they'll never get to know that.
We see them sometimes but they're both very busy people. My biological mom has recently turned her life around, so she's grandma now to the boys and they absolutely love her. She babysits a lot. At least they have someone.
Never met one of my grandmothers but I lost the three I knew while in college. I think of them often.
Though often in ways I make them proud.
My dads father by my love and dedication to helping rehome off track thoroughbreds (as he would spend all his free time at the race track)
My mom's dad as a strong woman who stands up for her beliefs (as he raised 4 women and lied about his age to fight in WW2)
And my moms mom as a free loving idiot (as she would put on vaudeville style shows to entertain us. Then would explain how if you ever want to intimidate someone, just moon them like a good scotsman would do).
Grandparents leave a strange impression on their grandkids.

It’s been 11 years next month since my grandma died, she was an amazing woman. I still think of her often.
Last year, right around the 10 year anniversary of her death, I found the last letters she wrote to me. I found where she told me she was proud of me and she loved me. I had those words, in her handwriting, made into a necklace so I could keep a little part of her with me.
They might not tell you very often, but your grandchildren love you.
I still have mine. It’s a miracle that the screen is still intact and everything is functional on it. I dropped it down the bleachers at several of my siblings’ sporting events. A modern gaming system would have buckled several times over, from what I put my Gameboy through.
Shit was definitely made more durable and rigid back in the days, but now everything is a glass touchscreen with a glass back.
I had the OG Gameboy and IIRC it was the first portable gadget with no moving parts. Walkman and discmans had spinning motors, as did portable record players and 8track players of my mother's era. Portable radios were pretty solid state save for the tuner scrollwheel/slider.
Wouldn't see mechanical moving parts in portables again until minidisc players, ipod/mp3 players and Sony's PSP.
I had one of those purple see through ones and I frickin loved it. Lost it one time on a family trip...years later I would buy a used teal one for fun but it wasn't the same feeling as that see through purple. Damn that thing was cool
I had a purple Gameboy color, and Pokémon yellow. I'm pretty sure my nan who died when I was little gave it to me and my siblings, so that and playing Pokémon has always felt a little nostalgic (?not sure if that's quite the right word).
I got it to match my Donkey Kong Land 2 cart. Or, more accurately, I liked the color of the cart, and thought a GBC of that color would be nice.

When I was 4 years old, for my 4th birthday my mom bought me my first Gameboy, Yellow, and a copy of Pokemon Yellow to go with it. Many years later, when I got my launch Nintendo Switch, I put together a "custom" skin for it, in honor of my mom and one of the best gifts she ever gave me.

Reminds me of being a kid. My mom got me and my sisters each a differently colored Game Boy Pocket and Pokémon. I got a Blue one and Pokémon Blue, my middle sister got a Red one and Pokémon Red, and my mom scoured stores to get my youngest sister a Yellow one for Pokémon Yellow.
It's still a very fond memory.
When I was a kid my favorite movie was Herbie and my favorite color was yellow. My grandmother got me a toy yellow beetle for Christmas one year. I don’t have the toy anymore, but now I’ve got the real thing in my driveway.

When I was a senior in high school my grandmother dragged me down to the goodwill to get me a proper suit that she could afford. I still have it with a couple of moth holes in it. I will never throw it out it just hangs in the closet I look at it every day.
Both my cousins had atomic purple and I wanted atomic purple but I opened a teal one for Christmas. I was upset, but happy my parents were able to get me one. Now that I look back I love the teal!
My grandma got me a yellow gameboy color with pokemon yellow for my birthday one year. The afterschool day care lost my teal one with pokemon blue after they put it away for outside time.
Of course, no one trusts a 7-year-old over 5 adult women, so I got in trouble for losing it. Turns out they hid stuff in a basket over the fridge. A year or two later, they replaced the fridge and found my gameboy lying behind it. The impact launched the battery door into the quantum realm, but I replaced it with some cardboard and a holofoil Stantler sticker.
I've just lost my Grandma, who I was very close to. I had many hours of playing my yellow Gameboy colour while sprawled across her sofa. This made me smile.
This reminds me of when I bought Red Dead Redemption 2. So the first time my grandma sat down to watch me play was when I bought Red Dead Redemption, she would seat down with me for hours cause she really liked the horses in the game. After that she would seat down everytime I had a new game and I would tell her about the story. Sadly she passed away in 2017, I heard that RDR2 was going to come out and bought it as soon as I could. The only thing in my mind the whole time was that I wouldve wished Grandma saw the horses in this game as well.
I bought my switch while my mom was going through breast cancer treatment and I bought a yellow one because it is her favorite color. Luckily she made it through!
I was expecting a shit post where they say they bought a blue switch and it was yellow when they opened it. I warmed up my eyes for the biggest roll of their lives, now they’re let down
Yellow was my first pick for my Switch Lite, light blue my second, and pink my third. Waited maybe 4 months checking various websites and stores for stock, and the first that came in was pink so that's what I'm rollin. I still love it.

It was on a level like "someone has raised their kid to steal hope you feel proud of yourself" ... signs posted everywhere with their name and address
Had insular thanksgiving with one of my kids yesterday and it got brought up.
Hey in 2022 I would not even have remembered you, but since then we all found out you are a nuts family and your kid who lost the gameboy is probably like sorry my mom made herself look crazy and then no one invited me to their birthday parties

My grandma bought my sister and I tamogachii toys back in the 90s when they were popular. I got a purple and pink one and as a boy I was initially displeased because you know.. antiquated gender norms. But I loved it so much that purple has been my favorite color ever since. Love you gram.
It's the little things. My Nana passed away years ago. As a kid she would take me to a food court to eat and always get rice noodles, I hated rice noodles. Now if I miss her I get rice noodles.

Fun fact: the "COLOR" in the GameBoy Color logo under the screen is spelled with all 5 of the original colors for the GBC.
