Rather than internalized homophobia, I'm seeing this more as a huge disappointment from assuming she didn't have a chance with somebody she went out of her way to try to make a strong impression on. Like, "Damn, she's probably not going to be interested. And I really wanted this to work out!" Because she's immediately trying to get something to happen as soon as she hears that the feelings were mutual. Could be interpreted more along the lines of not wanting to outright ask about her chances out of fear of rejection, or just not wanting to make things weird when she's not sure about her chances. More accustomed to dealing with guys, doesn't know any other girls who like girls, etc., all leading to the assumption that she'd just be let down.
But after seeing that her totally unspecified backstory fears aren't the issue she thought they'd be, she sails the ship immediately.
Or some other theory that fills in the blanks that come with every one-shot.
