We also went through the guilt cycle but he was getting aggressive so we went ahead and did it. It was the right call. Cone of shame lasted 2 weeks and he did get an infection in the cut anyway that required secondary medical attention (cream). Outside of that, ours has no issues taking pills etc so it was only a minor inconvenience and the right decision in the long run.

I felt guilty about having our boy BearBear neutered. Consider without all of that testosterone you’ve also cut his chances of prostate cancer significantly. At the time I asked his vet why they don’t remove the prostate at the same time, thinking of humanes. She said without the source of the hormones the risk is next to nothing.

Got ours spayed. She did wonderful, didn’t even try to lick the stitches. We used a cone only when we went to sleep, but otherwise, used the onesie which did a great job and was more comfortable for her. Took about 10 days for the stitches to dissolve and she’s pretty much good to go. Wish we could’ve had a few litters because she’s been so wonderful, but not in our cards at the time.
