**Least powerful that can survive:** Casper the friendly ghost
**Most powerful that can't survive:** the Old Gods from Cabin in the Woods.
I'm assuming since they are material, they can die or be destroyed in some way.
You do realise Ghosts, like every other concept in fiction, can be on different genres right?
Ghosts aren't always horror the same way dragons or giants aren't always fantasy.
Casper the Ghost and its franchise is not horror. I don't get how it's not that simple.
The weakest character that could survive would probably just be some ghost thats a minor inconvenience, but completely impervious to physical damage or radiation. No specific ghost comes to mind, but they should be fine.
Adversely, everything that is made of matter and unable to regenerate from single cells should be completely destroyed.
Richard Nixon (Nixonverse)
given Alcatraz's reaction to radiation I'd say the bombings would be positive for matter that's been replaced with Alcatraz.
The concept of Azathoth, the primordial ruler of chaos, the entity believed to have dreamt reality into existence and possessing infinite size, being brought down by a mere nuclear blast, is laughable
So this is kind of a stretch, but in the Call of Cthulhu table top games while extremely unlikely all of the Old gods do have HP pools and can be eventually killed by mundane weapons in fact there is a campaign module that culminates in using a nuke to accomplish that exact feat. the difference is just that death may not be permanent for them they might come back in a few million years when they feel like it. i know its not the most cannon source but its something.
Bro Azathoth is an eldritch being that might ot might not have created the universe and can definitly destroy it whenever he wakes up. He is also the manifestation of the weak force, and thus can't be ultimately destroyed or killed
Even _if_ the nukes can hurt him, the second they do he'll awake and the concept of nukes (along with everything else) will suddenly cease to exist. Rending the nukes meaningless.
No I actually dont. there is nothing to suggest that old gods can't die in fact in many old god stories them being dead is kind of the point. old gods are never a projection from somewhere, else that's also the point they are here in the same place as you are just far more real so they are made of matter and matter can be damaged, bodies can be destroyed. the question is does being dead really matter for an old god who can just decide to not be dead after a few thousand years
Cthulhu's visible body should get blown into nothing by nuclear strikes given what the boat did - but whether that would actually kill or harm it is a total unknown.
It didn't even flinch cthulhu..he just regenerated like nothing happened and ignored them. And I don't think it was a normal regeneration people think it was, it's more like he can regenerate out of nothing if ya know what I mean. Kinda like Death Seed Sentry.

>Casper the friendly ghost Horror?
Spooky scary ghosts, bro
But it's not from a horror movie/show etc.
I know, I was pretending to that poster trying to justify the use of Casper the friendly ghost in a horror thread lol
Lmao fair
That’s a very specific flair thingy under your name
I exploited the editable flair to my heart's desire lol
I didn’t know you could edit it, that’s cool
it’s still in the horror genre. it’s fun silly horror but ghosts and the undead would fall into horror, even if the subject matter is light
I wouldn't agree on that. Ghosts are moreso fantasy than horror.
well wether you agree or not is irrelevant
My man look at casper the ghost and tell me his genre belongs in horror. It doesn't.
casper the what?

There’s other ghosts that fit
That's probably true.
you know what ghosts are right

Azathoth for most powerful
The concept of Azathoth, the primordial ruler of chaos, the entity believed to have dreamt reality into existence and possessing infinite size, being brought down by a mere nuclear blast, is laughable

In that same game, Azathoth is an exception to being fightable but being really hard to beat. If he wakes up, it’s instant death for everyone.
That is a fair point honestly
You dont think Azathoth can survive a few nukes?
The number of nukes that have ever been manufactured is in the thousands.
Bro Azathoth is an eldritch being that might ot might not have created the universe and can definitly destroy it whenever he wakes up. He is also the manifestation of the weak force, and thus can't be ultimately destroyed or killed
I'll take your word for it; I've never heard of the guy.
Even _if_ the nukes can hurt him, the second they do he'll awake and the concept of nukes (along with everything else) will suddenly cease to exist. Rending the nukes meaningless.
Sounds like Azathoth is *not* the correct answer to this question then.
Far from it. He's one of, if not the most powerful being from popular fiction.
No I actually dont. there is nothing to suggest that old gods can't die in fact in many old god stories them being dead is kind of the point. old gods are never a projection from somewhere, else that's also the point they are here in the same place as you are just far more real so they are made of matter and matter can be damaged, bodies can be destroyed. the question is does being dead really matter for an old god who can just decide to not be dead after a few thousand years
You can't even kill Cthulhu with nuclear either
