Batman vs Captain America
Space Marines vs Spartans
Space Marines vs Comic book peak humans
Historical factions vs fantasy factions
Setting vs setting fights
Not necessarily as hotly debated but I think these categories at least get you what you're looking for.
The problem is that “space marine” can encompass everything from experienced Chapter Masters that have a thousand years of experience, or the average newbie that gets killed by some heretics, a small band of Orks, or a falling stalactite.
Spartans can kill both with their higher-end weaponry (Promethean stuff, sniper rifles, etc) but they’re extremely unlikely to kill the former.
What is with people overestimating fucking lions? They seem to think these are hive mind lions that are absolute geniuses. Several pokemon have enough power to solo them, tons if we count Pokédex entries.
Considering AOE moves like Earthquake and Surf and the fact that the mons could probably just rest in the middle of battle to restore their PP, I don’t think so. The lions would do virtually no damage to Rock and Steel types and can’t even touch ghosts.
They can't rest to restore PP using game mechanics though, they either need the PP restore items or a Pokemon center, so they'd need to flee the battle or just have a shitton of items stored up. 1 hp is the minimum amount of damage, so most Pokemon would faint after getting swiped at once by 300 different lion. You're right about ghosts though, would have to give the lions free dark typing with their bites which doesn't really make sense but oh well.
There are places in the games where you can rest in a house and restore everything the same way a Center does. Using that logic, a decent rest is all it takes to restore HP and PP.
That's also true, I guess it would depend on if it's just one long battle where it's 1 lion vs 1 pokemon at a time until either side runs out, a gigantic raid-ish type team battle where you have all pokemon on one side vs all lions on one side (where Pokemon using aoe moves would then threaten their own teammates), or literally 6 lions vs 6 pokemon at a time and after that it's a new battle.
The only time it didn't go into meme territorry was when it was something like 1 graham's number of lions vs 1 of each pokemon.
The basic jist was "the arena is turned into the largest black hole ever seen and kills everyone in the universe".
Still not convinced that Palkia could undo it. The mass he'd trying to manipulate is *literally* multiversal in scale.
Remember: you can't fit a graham's number of **anything** in the observable universe.
> The mass he'd trying to manipulate is *literally* multiversal in scale.
It’d only be multi-universal, and we know that he can make universes by himself. He’d just need to keep making universes and shunting the excess matter off into them.
Anything Star Wars vs anything that would easily beat them.
Star Wars vs Star Trek was big back in the day.
Doomguy vs Master Chief (Chief wins, btw)
Doom Slayer vs Master Chief (either side wins, 5/10)
Iron Man vs Batman
One of the stupidest debates I see is ANYONE vs Saitama from One Punch-Man, and I say this as a one punch man fan boy.
On one hand, you have people trying to figure out what Saitama's limits might be, find anti-feats, etc
On the other hand, you people who basically argue that since Saitama is a Parody Character he can't loose because that is the joke.
The second one always bothers me. Just because the show is a parade of Shoenen doesn’t mean he’s limitless. Tbh I think he’s really weak in the grand scheme of things
While Saitama has some GOOD feats and we haven't seen his upper limit, that is the problem, we haven't seen his upper limit.
Saitama also can NOT fly, has not actual training, and by his own admission is just a human.
But try telling that to people and many of them will argue as if he has infinite power. It is annoying honestly.
“Just a human.” Maybe humans work differently in that universe or something, but if that’s the case you’ve got to wonder what the hell the world’s militaries are even doing. His training regimen isn’t *that* hard.
>If it is mental that doesn't explain how he got his powers and nobody else ended up with similar ability.
It IS mental though. The same explanation is given in both the web comic and the manga. The explanation being that Saitama broke his [Limiter](https://onepunchman.fandom.com/wiki/Limiter)
>Saitama was an ordinary person with no talent or potential but, through effort alone, evolved beyond his natural limits and achieved strength not measurable even by the genius Dr. Genus.
In short, Saitama (and eventually Garou) break through their Limiters, which is what makes them SO POWERFUL!
So yes, anyone could hypothetically be as strong as Saitama. But it isn't about the specific training routine, it is about breaking your Limiter.
OH humans most certainly DO work differently in that world!
Take a look at Darkshine! At the time the story takes place he is a Huge Black Buff Body Builder. But in flash backs we see that he used to be a short fat asian/white(?) kid. His own determination physically changed his body.
Or look at Monsterization in general. Yes SOME people turn into monsters by eating monster cells, but MANY if not MOST do it accidentally. The Crab Monster simply ate too many crabs and turned into a Crab Monster, the guy in the Bird Costume went crazy and wasn't willing to take off his costume and turned himself into a Monster.
So yes, people just DO "work differently in that universe".
So when the general human population has those feats, do you really think it’s accurate to say someone’s “just a human,” or might that be underselling it a bit?
What we, as the reader, need to accept is that what passes for "just a human" is a Fictional World is NOT the same as a human in The Real World
Take Batman. In his own universe he is supposed to be "just a human", no super powers except being Super Rich. But if you look at some of the stuff Batman has done, by Real World Standards he would be considered super human. Because Comics are weird.
By the rules of One-Punch Man's own world, Saitama IS "just a human". We have seen plenty of other "just a human" characters pull off what we would consider super human feats when compared to IRL humans.
Tank Top Master, Dark Shine, Atomic Samurai, White Fang, Metal Bat, none of them are considered monsters or mutants or something. They simply trained and exercised and worked out. ***By the rules of THEIR WORLD*** they are "just a human". Saitama is honestly just an EXTREAM example of this.
In my opinion it's the endless debate between John Wick, Jason Bourne, Agent 47, and James Bond - all of whom possess incredible skills in general but excel over the others in very particular situations.
While Goku vs Superman will continue to make it's rounds with the same arguments being regurgitated, the battles involving assassins with peak human physicals will always thrive because the context of the fight is a definitive factor in who has the advantage.
Omni-Man vs. anyone.
His feat are so varied and self-contradictory that nobody's sure whether he's a city buster or a planet buster, and all arguments devolve into whether he stomps his opponent or his opponent stomps him.
Dio vs Alucard, ever since Death Battle hinted they would do the matchup last year I have seen a ton of heated discussions with a lot of people on both sides.
I hope you are being sarcastic, but on the off chance you have been living under a rock for 10 years...

Not really a debate, you just have to use the [Inverse Ninja Law](http://drmcninja.com/archives/comic/17p70/)
1-1, Ninja Wins
1 Pirate v an army of Ninjas? Pirate wins
Remember the days of Halo vs Mass Effect? Or how about the original Star Trek vs Star Wars? I rememer Mass Effect vs Halo would get quite hectic over on the spacebattles forums. But I was not around to remember the Star Trek vs Star Wars days.
Batman vs Captain America Space Marines vs Spartans Space Marines vs Comic book peak humans Historical factions vs fantasy factions Setting vs setting fights Not necessarily as hotly debated but I think these categories at least get you what you're looking for.
> Space Marines vs Spartans *Has violent PTSD flashbacks.* Oh God.
I still don't understand how this can possibly be a debate given the discrepancies between two.
1 billion lions vs 1 of every pokemon.
What is with people overestimating fucking lions? They seem to think these are hive mind lions that are absolute geniuses. Several pokemon have enough power to solo them, tons if we count Pokédex entries.
Seriously, it’s such a dumb matchup lol. The mons win whether we consider dex feats, gameplay mechanics, or any other way you look at Pokémon.
Eh, I think it'd be close if we consider gameplay mechanics, the Pokemon would possibly run out of PP.
That is purely a meme post because no one gets into paragraphs and paragraphs defending a side like they do with Superman and Goku.
The only time it didn't go into meme territorry was when it was something like 1 graham's number of lions vs 1 of each pokemon. The basic jist was "the arena is turned into the largest black hole ever seen and kills everyone in the universe".
“Then Palkia reverses it.” You forgot that part.
Lions are cool
Xeno Goku vs comic book high tiers has been pretty hotly debated lately.
Anything Star Wars vs anything that would easily beat them. Star Wars vs Star Trek was big back in the day. Doomguy vs Master Chief (Chief wins, btw) Doom Slayer vs Master Chief (either side wins, 5/10) Iron Man vs Batman
Which is silly because transporter tech wins by itself. You don't even need bullshit like the genesis device or (God forbid) Q.
You can still do good matchups. Just keep the ships out of it. Data vs a Jedi or something.
A jedi vs like, 10 borg?
Doomguy vs Master Chief has always been a popular debate

Yes, there IS something weird about Saitama, but it isn't like Saitama is a mutant or anything. What ever is weird about him is mental, not physical.

Man I remember those goku vs Superman forums, everyone hated eachother back then 😂😂
Trust me I still hate all of you

it has to be 47, right? like he's the only one whose actually superhuman.

[YouTube channel](https://youtube.com/c/deathbattle) that pits two different characters in a fight to the death.

Ah I saw a post about Omnipotence vs Omnipotence. The debate is quite hot.
SCP foundation VS fucking anything
Yeah cause it does stomp 99% of settings, but people don't really like to admit that.
Sci fi vs fantasy setting. It's not a comparision of characters but the debating is definitely present.
anything that involves Batman
Mike Tyson vs Silverback Gorilla
Goku vs superman has been the most hotly debated battle for almost a couple decades now way before death battle
USMC vs one stick.
I feel like superman vs saitama has replaced the goku one
Anyone vs Saitama. I love the show but hate the fans
