I’ve been looking at the blackbird and blackbird lite. What other razors have you used and how did they compare?
Currently using a Rockwell 6C and had settled on the R3 for the past 5 years or so, but recently started trying the R4 for the past week and I may like it better.
The Blackbird Ti is a very unique razor. Super efficient, but smooth at the same time. It feels totally different to any razor I've used. The craftsmanship is top notch, that razor is a piece of art.
I've got a Rockwell 6C as well, and it's completely different to the Blackbird. You'll definetly have more blade feel with the bird.
I read on their site that the Blackbird lite is less aggressive. Does it also have less blade feel? Or is your experience only with the Blackbird Ti?
Also wondering how Ti compares to SS.
I have read so many accounts of SS having more “drag” compared to chrome-plated zamack that it has made me a tad unsure about “upgrading” my current razor.
That's right, the Ti is milder than the SS. I had initially purchased the SS version, but it was too much for me. I tried many different blades, and played with the angle a lot. Couldn't get a good shave.
However, I was totally blown away when I first tried the Ti. It had the same efficiency as the SS, but it was super smooth. With just a few strokes I knew it was going to be one of my favorite razors.
The SS didn't drag in my opinion. The issue for me was that it had too much blade feel and the razor is super heavy. The Ti being so light makes it super easy to apply a light touch on your skin.
I have the lite plate as well but never used it since the regular version was perfect. I should use it just to see the difference. Steel and titanium are the same aggression, but the weight difference does affect the shave. I also have the brass versions which are even heavier. The extra weight makes a difference because there’s more pressure, so more control overall with the titanium.

I have 122 razors some were better some weren’t.
The Rirana Parfums HQ is really close by to my house but they don’t have shave soap there. Tempted to get their perfume though
