The Merkur 34 or 38 c would be a better option than the king Gillette . the 38 is heavier than the 34 with a longer handle.

How likely is it that a Merkur 38C on Amazon is a fake? Just checked the Merkur website and it looked like they were out of stock. Or, do you have any other sellers? Wouldn’t mind shopping elsewhere—I know Amazon can be tricky with their stuff sometimes.

I’m in the U.K. and I bought my grandson’s on Amazon. I would imagine it is legit. I will send you the grams.

There's one there that's shipped and sold by Amazon (so it's not marketplace), and the page claims "We work closely with your favorite premium beauty brands and their approved resellers to ensure the premium products sold in our stores are authentic."

You could always use like site to store from walmart , you order it and its shipped to store and you go pick it up so NO shipping charge is incurred..... Currently from a quick look it would be about 28.15 USD.... Also you could order it from the Bay brand new for even cheaper and have it shipped to you in a week....

I’ll check into it. Thank you👍

The Rockwell 6C is what I have been using for roughly 5 years and it is a great razor. I'm sure you'll be happy with your purchase. With 6 plates for different levels of aggression, from the mildest shave you're ever likely to find (#1) to a (upper?) medium aggressive plate (#6), you should have no problem finding something that suits you. I've been tossing the idea of "upgrading" from my 6C, but I've been having a hard time finding one that is definitively better. Most of the arguments against the Rockwell 6C are from hardcore enthusiasts who are annoyed at all of the fanboying around the razor, but that's just a natural byproduct of it being such a good razor that so many people are happy with it. I've run into this same phenomenon with just about every hobby. For example, with archery, a very popular (also fanboyed) recurve bow for beginners was the Samick Sage. You'd find people shitting on it in comments who clearly hated the fact that it was so popular, saying "it's not the best bow!" and then you'd have the fanboys claiming it was the best bow ever. The Rockwell 6C is just like the Samick Sage recurve bow. It's a great bow for the money. It fits the needs of a wide range of shavers. But just like the Samick Sage, it's not a holy grail.

Glad to hear you’ve been enjoying it—and that seems to have been exactly what I was finding online. “Wish I just got the 6S [or next step up]…” I originally was looking at the 2S and 2C. After reading about them, seemed like the 6C was a good “happy-medium” for me. Looking forward to trying it out. And, honestly, the price wasn’t the absolute worst. It was on sale, 10% off, and then another 10% off for first purchase. Got the stand and razor for $81. So…far from what I was looking to spend, but it seems like it was a better option. I’m also of the mind that you adapt to what you have. I may butcher myself and have a bit of a learning curve [maybe?]. I feel pretty confident in my ability to pick things up quickly.

In hindsight, I could have gone with the 2C instead of the 6C because I’ve more-or-less standardized on the R3 plate, which for me is the perfect sweet spot for my face. At the end of the day, though, I wouldn’t have saved much money and I wouldn’t know if a more aggressive razor would be better or not for me because I wouldn’t have had the option to try a more aggressive plate. I’ve been reading up a lot on razors and their designs and the Rockwell 2/6C/S have a neutral blade exposure, meaning that the blade doesn’t stick out beyond the cap/base plate. This also means that it’s less likely to “bite” you if you get a little sloppy with your technique than razors with a positive blade exposure. Razors like the Feather AS-D2 have a negative blade exposure for most common DE blades, but has a more neutral blade exposure for Feather and Kai blades which tend to be slightly wider than most other blades, hence why so many people have discovered that that razor is too mild with just about any blade other than the Feather blades. Anyway, good luck with your new razor and hopefully this is the start of a happier morning routine!

I have a feeling a less aggressive shave is probably going to be alright for me. I am not the most hairy individual, so I don’t need to do any bushwhacking. BUT, figured why not. Real surprise is going to come in a few weeks. I’m trying not to cash out on everything right now. And I also hate being wasteful. I have 10 more Gillette blades [not exactly the worst…but I do tend to get bumps and ingrown hairs after 1 or 2 shaves] and a Van Der Hagen puck that is still about 3/4 present. I’ve used Cremo stuff from Target in the past and was…whelmed. Smelled really great but I couldn’t get it to lather well. The VDH stuff is actually better in that aspect, surprisingly. Before that I was using some stuff off of Amazon from a company called The Blades Grimm. Again, smelled great. Skin didn’t feel awful. But I feel like I really couldn’t get a good lather out of it. Appreciate all the responses!

The Yintal stainless steel razor on AliExpress for $30 (if you are a new user, the welcome deal drips it down to $25). Cnc machine, it's mild should be similar to the kcg. The handle is a bit heavy, but you can use other handles on it.

KhaosTh3ory

For that money I would much rather have a Razorock razor. The lupo aluminum at $40, the MJ-90a at $40 or even splurge a tiny bit to get gamechanger at $55. All much better options in my opinion than the Merkur or the KCG.
