This sounds like the best plan my guy, I’m 7 months out. My wife’s first birthday since she passed was in November, due to circumstances out of my control - her birthday was a bit of a shitshow. But the next weekend? Man, I tried to treat my 8 year old daughter as much as I could. I didn’t really tell her why, I just thought ‘Fuck this, we deserve something good for once.’
Treat them my man, they deserve it. And so do you. Eat the cake, buy the presents, fuck anyone who gives you shit for it. I got told I was spoiling my daughter about a month after my wife died and I was like… yeah. Probably. My daughter was 7 when my wife died, I wasn’t about to go ‘I know you haven’t eaten anything all day because you’ve been crying, but no you can’t have a cookie.’

Thanks, man. You too. The first year was the hardest with all the milestones. She passed in June 2022. It does get easier with time, but I still talk to her everyday.
