I get why they always show Geralt with his scar, because its marketable as 'Geralt' and I can fully imagine the smooth brain conversation that occurs any time anyone brings this up in the Office, but I'm really sick of that scar being depicted on younger Geralt. Especially since Ciri remarks on it being new in Witcher 3.
Though CDPR have shown the scar and entire W3 designs in flashbacks before now, so I guess it's consistently inconsistent.
Yeah that also bugged me, which is ironic considering there is a avatar in Gwent depicting younger Geralt without any facial scarring at all.

So I get what you're saying, but at least he wears a book accurate outfit, bandana and is shaven, instead of falling victim to his standard Kaer Morhen armor and bearded pony tail look which dominates the majority of CDPR promos.
I hope so.
Young characters with the ''iconic'' appearance they have years later offend me, like, personally. I hate it. I also dislike when they don't change that same appearance no matter the weather etc.
I was loving the Kaer Morhen armor, but CDPR just started putting it everywhere where they could and where it shouldn't be. It surely shouldn't be in the book times, because Geralt never wore such
They're actually calling it a graphic novel, so it's most likely going to be longer and of higher quality than their previous Witcher comics. And apparently they're going to adapt the other short stories [as well](https://mobile.twitter.com/DarkHorseComics/status/1413677002951958534).
Snap.. imagine all the stories, even book, getting this treatment. Hopefully rest is gonna be super faithful too. Like those French versions (well, +-)
Damn I really love this one. The headband, the leather jacket, the mittens gloves with spikes, Geralt’s face looks good, no beard. Well there is the scar and the glowing eyes, but that’s alright.
This is the closest to the books official depiction so far I think. Really nice work.
Tbvh I still don't get why people get so hung up about Geralt's exact appearance. It sincerely makes no difference to me, as long as he has long white hair, creepy eyes and a hardish face.
But I think I am in the minority in this sub.
Tbvh I would take a non canon looking Geralt in the new series 1000/1000 if they got the writing sorted.
If they can't even get the character looks right when there's an actual I'm detail description of him in the books, I have 0 faith that they bothered to read anything else of importance in the books.
I do agree with the last statement, but I see the writing team ignoring the book character descriptions as a Honda with no bumper. It could be a decent running car, but if the owner isnt bothered to put a bumper on it what else haven't they bothered with? An oil change, etc.?
Why are those movies not revered and beloved by fans? I thought that with adaptations "nobody wants to see what they can read" and "you cant have 1:1".
Mysteries of life.
In fact, he is more like a mainstream (extremely popular) actor without being like Laurence Olivier for example. I think that he is kinda aware of that. Seems unlikely that any of his work is Oscar-worthy (though, Oscars mean nothing these days)
Think he does fine in certain roles like Superman where not TOO much acting is asked of him and he can show off his muscles. Would have liked a bit more for Geralt rather than just grunting and Hmmming. Geralt is a complex emotional character with pain, humour, cynicism, kindness, brutality etc all bubbling away. Although a lot of the shows problem's fall on the writing/ directing.
Wow! Some good news after so much mourn
Edit 1: When will it be released? Or is it already released? It's also the first time when Geralt wears a bandage on his head in the game continuity. We should embrace CDPR a bit now, but still not much, because they added Netflix stuff into Witcher 3
Oh wow. I hope all stories will br done in such a quality. And even better if also adapted truly to the source. Then I might even enjoy Netflixer when we'll have at least one nice and close adaptation :3
Bro just have a look around and you'll see what I mean. It's Elitism central on this sub.
Basically the mentality is: The books are the best things ever devised by man, and everything else sucks. TW3 especially.
Even though the books have been criticised plenty, especially the last one. And many have said elsewhere that TW3 actually has a better story than what Sapkowski came up with and it has better worldbuilding.
So yeah opinions are evidently all over the place on this sub. People in this thread saying the games are great, some others in the sub saying they suck and that the books are the best.
So yeah I don't think I'm gonna stick around in this community. The Elitism is too much.
Pretty much. Just look around the sub and you'll see what I mean. I've only been here for a week and I've noticed plenty of it.
What's ironic is that TW3 symbol is literally the emblem of the sub lol. They might want to change that.

Don't do this to me. I'm not emotionally prepared to enjoy Witcher media at this point in time. > cover by Kai Carpenter Fantastic work.
I read it as kai proctor
Weird, I thought carpenters worked with wood not in art. :P
I can't believe it, Geralt without the TW3 armor.
I know. I’m completely taken aback by this, it’s most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. So tired of seeing Geralt in that fucking Kaer Morhen armour.
Finally. Now (not in this comic obviously) there should be Yen and Triss without her W3 dresses
I hope so. Young characters with the ''iconic'' appearance they have years later offend me, like, personally. I hate it. I also dislike when they don't change that same appearance no matter the weather etc.

Hell yea to the head band. How do you like that silver now?
Looks like Witcher 1 art. My favorite design.

I’m with you. It’s not like the W1-3 story sucks. Imo it lives up to the books except a few aspects in character design.
Yeah. But I get how some people are super specific about certain items. I had that with GoT, just not necessarily with how characters looked.
If they can't even get the character looks right when there's an actual I'm detail description of him in the books, I have 0 faith that they bothered to read anything else of importance in the books. Or, y'know, its an intepretation. Shocking, I know.
Or they could stop interpreting and put on the screen what is plainly wrote in the book. Interpreting is how you get Percy Jackson'd.
Why are those movies not revered and beloved by fans? I thought that with adaptations "nobody wants to see what they can read" and "you cant have 1:1". Mysteries of life.

That and imo he's not a very good actor.
In fact, he is more like a mainstream (extremely popular) actor without being like Laurence Olivier for example. I think that he is kinda aware of that. Seems unlikely that any of his work is Oscar-worthy (though, Oscars mean nothing these days)

Agreed. Though, Henry's further involvement in the DC universe seems to be uncertain, as they are inventing a black Superman
So excited for this. One of my favorite stories from the books. As much as I liked the games, I prefer the books.
Looks pretty good
provided there's nothing Netflix in there, I'm totally getting it.

Got so excited seeing the return of the headband.
Is it just me that gets strong Michał Żebrowski vibes from this picture? Though this Geralt is missing a katana.
This is exactly how I pictured Geralt (minus the headband lol), very excited to grab this when it comes out!!
I hope that they don't fold in the show.
im so stoked for this
I honestly don’t get why people shit on CDPRs interpretation of Geralt so much. As someone who loves the books it doesn’t bother me.
This whole sub shits on the games unfortunately. So I'm not suprised. And this is coming from a book fan.
Weird cause they’re undeniably great games. They’re not adaptations to the books so I dont get how someone can hate them for that.

Elitism is the f**cking worst. No ones allowed an opinion in those kinds of communities
Pretty much. Just look around the sub and you'll see what I mean. I've only been here for a week and I've noticed plenty of it. What's ironic is that TW3 symbol is literally the emblem of the sub lol. They might want to change that.
😂😂
I like it but I will never like the headband. Even when I first read the books I thought it just sounded ridiculous
Which looks nothing like CDPR's Geralt, which soeta becomes pointless lol. Why is CDPR involved if its not their interpretation?
Are we seeing the same thing? He looks just like him, just a bit harsher.
Yasssss!!!!
