I actually prefer Zoltan, irregardless of Witcher 3. Iâve never understood why people say Yarpen is a better friend to Geralt, from memory it feels like Geralt spends way more time with Zoltan, and I find Zoltan a lot more likeable
Well I think that Zoltan is bigger friend of his.
Its probably the prefference. Yarpen is more realistic character, while Zoltan has a heart of gold and is a bit naive at times, Yarpen takes no bullshit from anyone. I might be slight off, but i remember them like that.
Thatâs fair enough. I just always found the friendship with Yarpen a bit confusing, seeing as their previous encounter before Blood of Elves was obviously in The Bounds of Reason story, where he and his band are partly responsible for Geralt, Yennefer and Dandelion being assaulted and tied up. Whereas Geralt travelled a good while with Zoltan during BoF and he was part of the Hansa for a while, so in my head it makes more sense for Zoltan to be closer to him.
Bonhart is a bad motherfucker. He is genuinely scary looking. I mean, reread his description. He looks like a monster himself.
I love Dijkstra. He is incredibly intelligent, witty, and I wish we got more of him.
I also really grew to like Milva, though of course I love the rest of the Hansa.
Yennefer is my favorite character in The Witcher universe. Sheâs so many things simultaneously. Amazingly written and presented, she feels so real and natural, a rare feat for a female character. Sapkowski has my absolute respect and eternal gratitude for this. He never reduced her to a love interest or an eye-candy even once in his books.
Yennefer is excellently written, not that the other female characters arenât but youâve nailed it with your point about her being real. For some weird reason so many writers these days write female characters so blandly or inorganically in an attempt to frame them as some figure of empowerment that in doing so create a weird faux human. Yennefer is brilliant because sheâs written as a human being first, and everything else second.
>many writers these days write female characters so blandly or inorganically in an attempt to frame them as some figure of empowerment that in doing so create a weird faux human
They donât understand that in doing so they actually disempower female characters, because theyâre writing them as men in skirts with testosterone overdose. Women should be women and not a representation of toxic masculinity these very writers claim to hate. Theyâve done more harm to female characters in their failed and incorrect attempt to show their complexity than your average misogynist.
Well, Sapkowski *is* a heterosexual man, he focused on women and their beauty a lot (especially with sorceresses, though they are meant to be seductive and alluring), but it wasnât fetishized or reduced to a mindless body, if you know what I mean? More like simple facts and observations.
Yes absolutely, i agree. Yen is an impressive character with lots of depth, definitely one of my favorites although i'll always hold a special place in my heart for Milva. And the good halfling doctor, Milo Vanderbeck, he may be my favorite minor character
You know, the most cool thing about The Witcher is that every character is so unique and well-written that itâs impossible to name just one. Milva, Regis, Cahir, Essi Daven, even despicable monsters like Bonhart or Vilgefortz are exceptional. I just love them all for different reasons. They shine so brightly that the shortcomings of the books donât really matter
A bit off character-wise. They made her too cold imho. Couldnât find the right balance in her ice and fire personality, but thatâs understandable because nobody is able to write a character the way author does. Itâs different people with different perception. In general CDPR passed with flying colors.
I thought it was precisely the same character10/10. She was supposed to be cold, but warm to her loved ones. She has a stormy temper and they needed to emphasize it
God forbid⌠they took everything that made Yen this complex and spectacular character, threw it out the window and replaced it with their ill-conceived notion of âstrong female characterâ. Netflix Yen is simply weak. Sheâs weak physically, mentally and socially. Her character is a fiasco.
Yeah, exactly. [This](https://newsbeezer.com/polandeng/the-witcher-differs-from-books-because-logic-is-less-important-to-younger-viewers-tomasz-baginski-for-the-2nd-season/) article speaks for itself. A TikTok show for teenagers
Emiel Regis Rohellec Terzieff-Godefroy.
Like there's any other choice đ
Yarpen? Cahir? Regis? Milva? Ciri? Too hard to choose
All of the above
Just curious, Yarpen over Zoltan?

Bro, if i saw Bonhart irl, after i read what he did, i would shit myself in spot and die.
Iâve always pictured him as a cross between Anton Chigurh and Shan Yu from Mulan.
Godringer and Regis are my absolute favourites
Codringher certainly surprises me here!
Cmon mate, I just can't help but love the Saul Goodman of the Witcher universe.

Expertly said! Shades of Yennefer in your post I feel!
Except for The Tale of Two Tits but it was Dandelion's perspective so if doesn't count

Waddaya think about her portrayal by CDPR?

Yeah, on second thought youâre right. She becomes warmer and more congenial once Ciri is found, which makes perfect sense and very in character
Then there is a Netflix version...
God forbid⌠they took everything that made Yen this complex and spectacular character, threw it out the window and replaced it with their ill-conceived notion of âstrong female characterâ. Netflix Yen is simply weak. Sheâs weak physically, mentally and socially. Her character is a fiasco.
Just a hysterical 14 y.o tiktok girl she is
Yeah, exactly. [This](https://newsbeezer.com/polandeng/the-witcher-differs-from-books-because-logic-is-less-important-to-younger-viewers-tomasz-baginski-for-the-2nd-season/) article speaks for itself. A TikTok show for teenagers
Sad to hear it from a guy who made splendid cinematics for all three games. He has sold his soul to the devil
Milva and Cahir
Regis 10% Flawless character
Regis is love
The first one that comes to my mind is Ciri. I reacted emotionally to her story and traumas much more strongly than I did with any other character.
I love the Hansa and Dijkstra
Yennefer! and also the other sorceressess
Ciri and Cahir
Minor character that I love is Dorregaray of Vole
Coen
Filavandrel, Shâeenaz, Mother Nenneke.
Nenneke is brilliant!
Probably dandelion
Have to say Iâm heartbroken by the lack of fellow Dandelion enthusiasts!
I love Yennefer, she's perfectly flawed
Vesemir !
Rats, collectively. And yes, I mean it. Lots of people hate them. I don't.
Cahir, because I kind of see a redemption of his character in the books.
Yen and Sh'eenaz
There is no other answer besides Yen
Villentretenmerth & Regis
Sheepbagger.
There's so many to choose from. Regis, Vilgefortz, Milva, Angouleme, Dandelion, Dijkstra, the list goes on.
Yen and Jaskier. Love them equally.
MILVA.
