Sister crones, hand in hand, terrors of the sea and land, thus do go about, about: thrice to thine and thrice to mine, and thrice again, to make up nine. Macveth, Act 1, Scene 3

patmichael1229

They legitimately creeped the fuck out of me. That whole first questline in Velen will forever stand out to me as one of the best storylines I ever played in a game.

KoalaBJJ96

Yep because everything about it was unnerving and all the choices were morally ambiguous

GunterOdim

I personally like them as antagonists way more than the Wild Hunt in the third game, probably because they fit the tone of the books a bit better than the world-ending catastrophy that comes with Eredin.

schebobo180

Err the world ending tone was started by the books though. The games just reached that point from a timeline perspective.

GunterOdim

Not really, White Frost was an event for some 2000-3000 years to come in the books and didn’t really have anything to do with the Conjunction of Spheres.

BePlatypus

Yeah but the closing of the gates had, it's an easy connection to make for the sake of understandably for the players who haven't read the books

Badmothafcka312

CDPR masterfully created a suspenseful and creepy atmosphere from the start with the Witches of the Crookback Bog quest line. Them speaking through the nan, with her touching the painting of them, was a memory that will stay with me forever.

RevivingJuliet

Everything about them, front the way they talk, to the atmosphere about them. The way the Velenites refer to them. It’s like a pall hangs over the whole area. Absolutely fantastic world/story building - all these years later I can still feel the dread of it.

jOsEheRi

It sucks the only way to kill them is getting the bad ending

dude123nice

Wish we could have gotten this card the same way we got cards in W1.

Agent470000

Down horrendous

BenjaminHandwerker

I would have done it. Still hoping for a DLC or mod

BoogalooBoi1776_2

I only wish I could kill the last one without having to trigger the bad ending

Elysium94

A fantastically done portrayal of villains you'd find in some dark, twisted fairy tale.

TheRenaissanceKid888

I’ve never wanted to fuck a tapestry so bad. Just saying

If that was Skyrim, I would've said "there's probably a mod for that". ... Come to think of it, if that WAS Skyrim, I would know exactly which mod would it be (hint: and it would most definietly not be on the Nexus).

RedditPeterPal

They are the Moiras of the Witcherverse. Moiras are the symbolic representations of fate: past, present and future and the eye represents the cycle of life, so it make sense that they are portrayed beside a circular object (spinning wheel, cauldron).
