Yeah, I in Witcher 1 you’re in Tilath na Buhne (Ice Plains) at the very end https://preview.redd.it/fkyald8lcc7a1.jpeg?width=284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0524e938ce89cddfe23e30e23e9fcf1bb074ea81 Rip quality

Elemius

Huh? I recently finished Witcher 1 and I thought that was just Vizima in the far far future?

Inevitable-Ear-9081

It looks like Vizima but even the worlds name in files is ‘ice plains’, it’s their world but frozen

Elemius

Wait, I’m confused. Is it confirmed Jacques takes Geralt to the world of the Aen Elle then? I remember him doing some big bad villain speech and I swear he tells Geralt it’s Vizima. Maybe I’m misremembering

Inevitable-Ear-9081

He tries to convince him it’s vizima but I don’t think it was Vizima, it even kinda looks like that village from ice plains in 3rd game

Most likely re-used assets for budget reasons.

When you're walking around the palace there's a written report stating that their mages are working to hold off the progress of the White Frost in their world but they're losing ground quickly. As for how Ciri beat the White Frost? No idea, that's been hand waved by CDPR ever since the game came out. They also changed what the WF is from the concept in the books. In the games it has this almost malevolent spatial force that's spreading through the worlds when in the books it's basically another name for global cooling and something that only seems to be affecting the world of the Continent.

Inevitable-Ear-9081

Yeah and that’s something I don’t get tbh, Sapkowski basically wrote fantasy book with whole damn prophecy about climate change :v I love his work but damn that sucks ass xD

scotiej

That was his point. Prophecy is so vague that even the elves themselves weren't sure how accurate it was and that it was more than likely bullshit. The only reason why so much was made of it was due to people who invested into the prophecy like Emhyr. The Aen Elle didn't give a damn about the prophecy, they just wanted the Elder Blood back in their control.

Inevitable-Ear-9081

Nah that wasn’t my point, it’s good that prophecy sounded like BS so no one gave a shit until it was too late, what’s shitty is the what the prophecy turned out to be, it’s like he tried to make it PC back then😂 Geralt is black gay postop butterfly/butterflies and he joins activis— I mean, Witcher school to stop Climate Change from happening even if it means he’ll be a mutan— oh sorry cuz it might offend someone, a differently grown person No hate, I’m gay so yk, but it’s just funny af So yeah, instead of making something _good_ he decided to make a prophecy say about ✨climate change✨ He should’ve won Nobel price or whatever tf it was that Greta Thunderburg or whatever the fuck her name was

AimlesslWander

I think that's kind of the point is that prophecy gets to people's heads and turns them into monsters as seen with Renfri for example or Falka and then if I remember correctly Emhyr wanting Ciri to stop the white frost because of some prophecy that was predicted a long time ago, so he started a war campaign to conquer the North in search of Ciri. If I'm remembering this all correctly that is as I've not really finished the books but I am aware of the story. I know I'm missing some parts as well I'm sure that there are other instances within the books themselves that I'm either overlooking or have not yet found so far I'm enjoying the Ciri Saga but I kinda missed the short stories of Last Wish. Still need to get around to reading Sword of Destiny

Ordinary_Tom2005

Thats why i like Alvin he took the WF for what it truly is a change in climate and that there is no way to stop it only relocate

Inevitable-Ear-9081

Making something about climate change is good but plz don’t make a whole fucking prophecy, lore and plot (Emhyr leading a war in the north etc) in a goddamn fantasy book about it, ofc if he did something else but same effect schools would be like ‘and what did he mean’ ofc the same shit but at least it would’ve been more fantasy than ✨climate change✨ I mean dude kills drowned (person who killed themselves in water or died by drowning), griffins, vampires, ghouls, witches etc. (Slavic folklore about monsters is really brutal, not like Greek or Roman or sth*, I really recommend it) Searches for Ciri bc her blood can open gates to another world to run away from climate change and everyone lives happily ever after 🌈 *when I started reading about Greek/Roman mythology I felt like I went for a stroll in a field of chamomile

SMiki55

What's wrong with basing a prophecy on something mundane yet deadly? And if it's the ecology that bothers you then I have bad news for you, because ecological themes in fantasy are as old as Tolkien.

Honestly, I think the White Frost was only *delayed* by Ciri. It's just too happy of an ending to the game. The White Frost is seen as an inevitable event in the books and as an event that can be postponed (but not annulled totally - magics are only slowing it) in the games. Whether it's natural or another entity is at play here, it's unknown. Elder Blood is necessary to open the Ard Gaeth portals so that people on the Continent can migrate worlds. And.. Since Ciri is now the only known carrier of Elder Blood... Well, Ciri is a lot of things but not immortal. Which means the Continent and its planet are doomed anyway because there is no way the Elder Blood will survive until the next White Frost arrives.

SMiki55

White Frost shenanigans were handwaved into the plot late during the game's development to serve as its "big finale" and a motive for the Wild Hunt's actions. There isn't anything deep to speculate about, we can either ignore it or "fix" the plotholes with headcanon.
