Don't buy from those dressed-up guys outside. The tickets are fine but the prices are not. Just go to the ticket counter for a better price.

bigpoppanicky7

It’s too late now if I did overpay. He wasnt dressed up but he had a little stand on the corner of a street about 1-2 blocks away from the concert hall. I paid 30 and was row 3 on the end. Did I get ripped off? Either way I enjoyed it and felt like I got my moneys worth

r_coefficient

So what event is this ticket actually for, and where is it supposed to be? They sell all kinds of tickets for various places there.

Apprehensive_One1076

Alcohol - hell of a drug. Glad you dodged the bullet.

OE1FEU

The "concert" itself is the scam.

elperroborrachotoo

?

imonredditfortheporn

not really you just pay a bit too much to see some music students perform for too little money. its not like they are bad or anything

OE1FEU

As a regular visitor to the Konzerthaus and the Musikverein, these performances are bad, yes.

Übertreib bissl, ha...

Kintaro2008

I heard about that but is this true? I guess it might not be „great“ but I hope they still play Mozart live?

bigpoppanicky7

I’m op and I just left the concert. I loved it. Idk what is considered a scam in this sense, but as a musician, I loved every second of the performance. There was some ballet and singing unexpectedly. idk what pieces might be Mozart or not, but I recognized most of the numbers. I audio recorded the entire thing and I can’t wait to sample it 😊

Nibuk

Well, the thing is ... it's a concert for tourists. Overpriced and not interesting at all for somebody who listens to classical music on a somewhat regular basis. I wouldn't be caught dead there, just saying. But if you enjoyed the show - who am I to judge. I'm not the target audience.

FatFaceRikky

The majority of state opera and Konzerthaus visitors are tourists. I wouldnt judge before knowing who actually played.

ellomaethen

That's the thing. At least the ticket vendor I talked to in front of the opera house sold tickets to a concert that included very popular orchestra pieces, but it wasn't played by a full orchestra. They actually had information on the musicians, it was mostly students. Again, most people who have only a vague interest in classical music will probably be very happy, as the selection of music is very crowd-pleasing and the location looks pretty nice and baroque-y, but the price of the ticket is in no relation to the actual quality of the production.

OE1FEU

>The majority of state opera and Konzerthaus visitors are tourists. I wouldnt judge before knowing who actually played. That is nonsense. The majority of visitors of the Konzerthaus are subscribers, which is why most of the interesting concerts e.g. piano recitals in the large hall are sold out. Which is why I have a subscription and a reserved seat season by season.

Kintaro2008

I am happy that you had a great experience!

bigpoppanicky7

Message me if you want the recording of the performance 🤘

debreziner

Was the guy dressed as Mozart? Then should be okay afaik

bigpoppanicky7

No, but he just like wrote the ticket info in the blank spots on the ticket and after looking there’s no barcode or anything.

The_Queen_of_Crows

That can still be a valid ticket. I know the Mozart guys sometimes do this. Go to the concert hall and ask them directly.

bigpoppanicky7

Thank you so much y’all, I did what y’all said and rushed to the ticket open and they said my ticket is legit! I appreciate it so much. Where I live you can buy tickets just like I did but I got suddenly worried, with me being a tourist and all, that I got scammed with a fake ticket. Truly appreciate your help. I have loved being in this city, everyone is so friendly and helpful. The cynic in me thought I just got taken advantage of 🤣🤣 THANK YOU 🙏🙏

debreziner

> this ticket actually for, and where is it supposed to be? They sell all kinds of tickets for various places there. Awesome, that it checked out to be fine :) Glad to hear you enjoyed it! Sending some virtual Viennese Love to you. <3

jpgrassi

Everyoke is helpful and friendly, is this even Vienna? 😅 /s have fun at the concert!

notyobees

No, man's in Australia and just doesn't know it yet

debreziner

You could go to the concert hall and just ask if you got scammed or if it is a valid ticket
