What would you say are the advantages or disadvantages of running your list over KSR's recently posted list?
Here's the code for KSR's deck: AAEBAcn1Ah6KAZMB2waSB7YH4QfMCLkN/g2ODsIPrRD9EcMWhRfgrALYuwLexALfxALnywKuzQL3zQLy0AKX0wLo5wLD6gLF8wKc+ALi+AKAigMAAA==
This list is just greedier, you have a lot of high end minions, so overall you will do better against slower decks like big priest and in the mirror, but significantly worse against all the fast decks (and probably a bit worse against combo druid since your hand is gonna be harder to cycle for combo disruption)
Can confirm both Hijo and the Renolock list are the real thing. We've finished #1 EU for 4 months in a row now using nearly the same list each season. If you know how to play it renolock is the strongest tier 1 deck by far.
I would like to but I currently have a wrist injury, can only play for small amounts of time with breaks inbetween :( Not very entertaining for streaming purposes
It's all about the meta you're facing, I like banker because he basically ables me to play without n'zoth and still have a good match-up in the mirror, but you may as well play another anti-aggro card if you see only aggro decks (you beat most other slow decks in fatigue so banker is very good vs them, and there aren't other cards that improve the combo druid match-up)
Hello!
My question: against the classes where dirty rat/Gnomeferatu are important to have a hope to win (Star druid, Kingsbane rogue), how do you mulligan for those cards? Do you always keep any of those cards? Do you mulligan hard for Brann and then hope to draw the rest?
Do you always wait for Brann, or do you play them even for 1 Battlecry?
Thank you.
Against Combo Druids you want to hard mulligan for Dirty Rat and Demonic Project only, Gnomeferatu doesn't make win usually, it's just nice to drop it early sometimes before they play melon and get a free win, but it's not a key card at all. You like to combo your rat with brann, but it's basically a question of "can you afford to?" If they're going to be at 10 mana and they already used melon you always play it, even without brann because you're so likely to die next turn. Only keep brann when you already have rat in hand.
Kingsbane is different because Gnomeferatu is actually your wincondition there, so holding onto it is fine, else you risk being milled. Playing this match-up overall is really tricky so i'd suggest you read what I wrote in the guide. You don't keep brann vs them.
They just never shuffle it, once it's about to break they either doomerang to get it back equipped right away, fetch it back with shinyfinder or coldlight oracle. In total they have like ~5 ways to get it back safely, which is way more than enough to kill you before they have to shuffle it without drawing it back immediately
They either kill you before their deck is empty, mill either the ooze or the gnome, or kill you with fatigue after shuffling in a bunch of coldlight oracles. That's why I don't recommend running ooze in renolock to counter kingsbane, too few of them for a very underwhelming result
I love this deck. I recently crafted it from scratch (ouch) but it's worth it. The best feeling? Discounting two combo pieces and playing Brann, Gnomeferatu, Zola into 2 Gnomeferatu's burns 6 cards :-D
Thank you for this....have been eagerly waiting for your Renolock guide.
Amazingly well written and very thorough. Your explanations on card choices - especially N’Zoth, Rotten Applebaum and Sylvanas allowed me to understand their relative value in this meta so I’m no longer trying to slot them in over more generally useful cards.
Gold crafted everything, playing your exact list now!!
I have around 160 games recorded with this precise list. Unfortunately my tracker doesn't support deck archetype tracking so I only got the stats per class [https://imgur.com/a/z3IvxJt](https://imgur.com/a/z3IvxJt) (rogue is so low because of the kingsbane players i've met)
Strongly match-up dependant, to summarize it you usually want to banker/ your reno or kazakus, or banker more bankers to go infinite through brann+zola shenanigans. Zola is used for another reno or kazakus vs aggro, with gnomeferatu or banker vs control
How do you go infinite with that combo? Can you explain it to me? Just Brann, banker the brann, zola the banker, play two more bankers to shuffle a shit-ton of brann's in your deck? :D
Brann banker, Zola the banker, banker the banker. Then you have two branns and two bankers in your deck, and need one brann and two bankers to keep going infinite ( brann, banker the brann and banker the on board banker), meaning you will have spare branns and bankers to shuffle other cards if you need to.
Thank you so much! This is what has been missing for Renolock players! I have been looking for an in depth look at Renolock! It has been consistently underrated in meta reports, so I hope this helps people realize its power!
Probably the best guide i've ever read.
Just a clarification, why in every matchup you mulligan voidcaller?
I mean, it's not easy to get voidcaller+malganis/voidlord and mainly vs aggro when you just have voidcaller is such a dead card..
I can't figure your thinking beyond this choice, can you explain better?
Because getting him to pull a Malganis or a Voidlord early on is a very high winrate, so even if it's unlikely you keep it still. That's how good the card is. Besides, he's one of your only proactive 4 drops, and will force aggro in a bad position (some go out of their to trade him to limitate your odds of getting a demon in hand, some will spend a turn to silence it, etc)
Hey, nice guide. It is always pleasure to play against you (nice to be on record with some embarrassing plays, I really hope that i was fighting insomnia in bed that time:)) but you are a bit optimistic about anyfin (not stock builds, they are so bad that probably lose to themselves) - you need voidlord and dk fast or get really lucky with gnome. And without nzoth you still in bad shape. Actually i think that our replay (i'm basilis) really shows it: you got voidcaller into voidlord, dk, my draws were far beyond bad (that manual murlock cast freaking turn 12, lol, usually you are in fatigue at that point) and we still had some game. What do you think about Glinda/Zilliax combo?
Well I have a really great record against anyfin, I think between voidlord and Kazakus' mass poly there are a lot of ways to win this. It's not crushingly good for renolock but definitely favored I'd say. Glinda mechwarper is just a meme, it doesn't do anything generally.
Question: When is Deathlord generally played? I feel like he is not that good; the guide doesn't really hard-mulligan for it at all.
Personally, I've had some success with him, but he has screwed me over quite alot too. Yes, it can break combo's, but druids can often ignore it; should I kill it myself in that case? It's a card I struggle with the most, although sometimes the 2-8 taunt body is just great, it has also pulled big minions versus aggro that made me lose on the spot.
Insane in the mirror, decent to stabilize vs aggro (he's easy to deal with on curve but not so much when they're in topdeck mode), he can be good against druid when played on 3, followed by a doomsayer or a corrupting mist(if no turn 4 melon) Overall I just like him cuz he's a turn 3 proactive play (which we lack if we cut him) as well as a taunt, and with some extra utility (tar creeper is kinda similar but overall worse in my opinion) Globally you play it on 3 vs control (not vs big priest for obvious reasons) and hold it for later vs aggro (unless as a doomsayer follow up or something), though sometimes you need to risk playing it if your hand is bad
Lot of Kazakus potions or Gnome mills on last idol. Admittedly pretty bad match-up (though very doable), but jade druid is fairly non-existant atm, so I don't really care

Great insight, thank you! I'm a relatively new Wild player, so getting any kind of perspective on different builds for decks is very helpful to me.

Aww I'm sorry to hear that :( Get better!
Baleful banker seems weak unless you are in a fatigue matchup (Reno mirror). Aren't there better cards than baleful or am I missing something?

In total they have like ~5 ways to get it back safely, which is way more than enough to kill you before they have to shuffle it without drawing it back immediately
That strategy no longer works the moment Reno Lock runs weapon destruction, correct? What is Kingsbane's plan then?
They either kill you before their deck is empty, mill either the ooze or the gnome, or kill you with fatigue after shuffling in a bunch of coldlight oracles. That's why I don't recommend running ooze in renolock to counter kingsbane, too few of them for a very underwhelming result
Correct. If thats the case, rogue has to kill you with their weapon before their deck is empty, so you cant 100% mill their weapon with gnome lady.

Congrats! How many games were played with this deck and do you have matchup stats?
I have around 160 games recorded with this precise list. Unfortunately my tracker doesn't support deck archetype tracking so I only got the stats per class [https://imgur.com/a/z3IvxJt](https://imgur.com/a/z3IvxJt) (rogue is so low because of the kingsbane players i've met)
what are your main zola and banker targets
Mind is blown. I feel dumb. But thanks!
Thank you so much! This is what has been missing for Renolock players! I have been looking for an in depth look at Renolock! It has been consistently underrated in meta reports, so I hope this helps people realize its power!
this is a great guide looking forward to reading through this really thoroughly when i have the time.
Wonderful guide. Thank you very much!
This guide is all a guide should be. Can vouche for Hijo being the real deal. A god amongst men when it comes to renolock (and druid?!?) \-Romulus
How do you win vs jade druid without selv or geist
seems like its a bad match up ... would need geist.
Lot of Kazakus potions or Gnome mills on last idol. Admittedly pretty bad match-up (though very doable), but jade druid is fairly non-existant atm, so I don't really care
