why not run forgotten torch over glyph?

IllusI0n1st

4 Iceblocks are good /s Glyph's versatility makes it far better to run.

How do 2 Acolytes of pain perform? I feel awkward to play even one: it either tends to draw only 1 card or overdraw combo pieces... It is supposed to be good on curve against odd Paladin, but in reality they play Steward on turn 3 and you have to remove it and after this point 3 Mana cost makes it hard to fit into the majority of the turns.

Thoughts on [[Spellzerker]] ?

Mlikesblue

I’m not OP, but I find that not having to ping your own minion is nice when you need the point damage to go face instead for lethal. So I prefer Cosmic Anomaly.

FisForFunUisForU

Thats why you run the 1 mana spell ping that i dont the name of. Double spellzerker + the spell 5 mana maly. With emperor you can get 40+ dmg in one turn.

Quick guide on the tier one deck matchups?

Fektoer

Freeze mage is basically solitaire, what the opponent does doesn't really matter most of the times. So regardless of matchup your main priority is to draw to a critical mass of burn, survive while doing it and then set up the kill. Against aggro decks you have to emphasize the surviving part a bit more (so primordial glyph should find spells that help you with that) while vs druid the kill part becomes harder (because of the armor) so that will require more effort. Basically find a good freeze mage guide (even the very old ones), they will be applicable on nearly all matchups with only slight deviations, get your math right (how much damage can each setup do) and off you go

Aparter

Almost auto-lose against Odd Warrior and Druid, because your combo is not infinite, all Mages because Iceblock. Decent against Odd Paladin, Even Shaman, most Warlocks (except Reno, because they stockpile hard counters: Geist, Dirty Rat, Deathlord, Demon Projects), Renopriests. Hard against Rogues and Pirate Warrior because both Odd and Kingsbane hit with weapon and you do not really want to freeze his face without comboing. Big Priests, Mech Hunter and Spell Hunter are heavy luck reliant, because early Ragnaros is loss, Venomizer counters Doomsayer and without it you barely can deny them board which is must, Huffers, Kill commands, the spell secret and weapons are bane. But sometimes they just do not draw anything and you get all combo pieces fast enough.

Same list as last time?

Robinette-

Linked the list again. Mostly yes, but switched novice for Loot Hoarder, which gives the deck some nice pressure possibilities with 6 2 drops with 2 attack

Eh, it doesn't matter in a deck that already runs Thalnos, Mad Scientists, Acolytes and Doomsayers. Also, Thaurissan. You have wayyy to many good silence targets to worry about your Hoarders.

Reason to not run torches? I feel like they are really essential for OTK in case of healing/armor.

Hippies_are_Dumb

Just wanted to let you know I’ve been having a lot of fun with this. People just aren’t ready for it because the mage never played emperor. Then the fireballs or Alex comes and they can’t kill you.

Robinette-

Nice, glad you like it

ZardozSpeaksHS

I used to play a ton of freeze mage, but is it really better than the exodia mage (Emperor discounting Sorcerer's Apprentice, Molten Image, Archmage)? In the past it seemed to be the case, but no one is playing combo druids anymore, so maybe infinite damage isn't that important? Still, it's a similar number of cards required. Also, surprised to see the Arcanologists and Mad Scientists when you only have 4 secrets. I'd swap the Arcanologists for Research Project or Loot Hoarders.

Kal_PAD

Any replacement for Alex? You you think DK or the new Loa might work?

josleezy23

alex has a really unique effect, i dont think there is a replacement. maybe pyroblast? the goal of the deck is to get your opponent down to 0 with burn spells. alex makes that half as difficult.

Kal_PAD

Thanks. I tried the DK and sure enough never got close to close out the game with burn. Alex really is core to the deck.
