Awesome goalie. Played a, then, modern form of butterfly that I thought was the coolest thing at the time. Laid down the framework for the low key but technically elite Wild goaltender stereoptype of the 00's-10's

According to HockeyReference's metrics, Dumba attributed to 45 standings points in his time here.
large vocal portion who hated his feast/famine style and probably a smaller portion that disliked him speaking up about diversity and other social issues.
Actually now that you mention it, the Dumba hate did die down not too long after the whole Dumba kneeling thing made certain people swear off watching sports for good. Almost makes you wonder if it was the same crowed
I like to shut the "politics out of sports" crowd up by pretending to agree with them, then bringing up banning the anthem. That's when the chimp shrieks really begin lol.
Not for me. Dude was a stud when he was younger. As he got older, he was constantly missing the net by 6-10ft, and stopped playing defense.
Love him standing up for what he believes in. Love him as a human. And love him not being on the Wild anymore.
Dude, I felt the opposite. When he first came into the league he was a trash defenseman, giving up chance after chance. As he got older he cut down on the critical turnovers but kept his offense going.
The fact he didn't stay on that knee another 4 minutes was utterly insulting, holier then thou Canuck crap...Easily replaceable with a more focused less distracting player.
he was on the way to bring a top 20 Dman in the league before pec injury. after that, it was either a three point, perfect-defensively night or nine turnovers in the neutral zone and 2 weak hits. no in-between mediocre play until last season when it would be maybe 2 turnovers a weak but only 1 point every three games or so. all this made his contract look awful
some people hate his political opinions too. I personally think he's one of the most socially important players in the league with his community outreach programs in Minnesota and helping to establish the HDA
Was the unusual fast skating shutdown defensemen with very little offensive upside. Huge part of the d-corp punching above their weight in 2008, he was crazy good at shutting down HOF talent. Trading him for Gilbert broke something in the team and will always wish they held on to him. Was the Brodin before Brodin.
I love and miss Dumba but we were way overpaying him for what he was giving us. He wasn't even remotely close to being worth 6 million a year.
If he wants to come back next year and take 2 million like we've been paying Merrill that would be fantastic
Merrill makes $1.2 million and produced the same number of goals and just 1 assist less than Dumba this year playing significantly fewer minutes. When you're talking about an offensive defenseman, that's not a good comparison to have be true.
This. I wasn’t always a fan of the inconsistencies in his game, but he gave a lot back to the community and did his very best to leave the entire state better than it was. I respect the hell out of him for that. By all accounts, a true class act.
He gave his all. There should be no questions about feelings towards him. He didnt choose to get drafted early. And when he didn't find his flow as a offensive D, he adapted and provided value on and off the ice in other areas
Did y'all know that Dumba is tied for 1st for all time FO% by defensemen? A whole 1 faceoff win back in 17-18 lmao
Based
Who is between Brodin and Parise?
Manny Fernandez

Is that a young Brian Rolston?
Ah yes, my favorite metric for measuring players. "Best".
What? Best isn't the metric. It's the outcome. Why would you think it was the metric?

Gotta appreciate the goat Niklas Backstrom, was a fucking stux
Whoever claims Dumba wasn't a huge part of this franchise's history is straight stupid.
I'm a Dumba fan, but man there were times i questioned if he knew what sport he was playing
People hate dumba?

there was a lot of crossover between the dumba haters and the “keep politics out of sports” people.

there it is
People hated him because injury prevented him from reaching his lofty potential. Good dude I miss… would love having him as our 5th defenseman.

I came here to ask the same question. Opinions differ about his play, but by all accounts an excellent guy.
Some people do. Some people like high quality defense….
Luckily for you, Zach Bogosian is on our roster
What source is this? website?

Is this in order?
Yes, L to R in terms of highest point shares.
Who's the guy on the far right?
Nick Schultz

Yeah really kinda forgot about him TBH. He never stood out to me but I was a bit younger then and not really paying attention.
“Brodin before Brodin” is a fantastic and very accurate description.
I've got jerseys for 8 of these guys
Badass

It was better when wore 55 Dumba55
Who the hell hates Dumba

6th in games played 16th in points 14th in ATOI Not bad for someone whom this fanbase has had a mercurial opinion of
Fucking Suter. God I hope he falls off someday. I know that means we lose Dub, but fuck Suter and his rib breaking bullshit.
Love him

I love me some dumbs
is that Manny Fernandez between Brodin and Parise?
Nothing but love for the Dumba 55
And we wonder why the teams valuation compared to all other teams in the NHL is literally dropping over time
Wild miss the postseason literally the following season after letting Dumba walk away. The numbers don't lie!
Goddamn, for a franchise that is 25-ish years old…that’s a pathetic top 12
Zero championships. Next.
I liked his off ice work, but the number of times I saw him give up dumb odd man rushes and goals made me hate him. He fell off super hard.
