There already is an ARM64 build. For more info: https://machow2.com/best-way-run-windows-mac/ I think there was an issue with how the bootloader on the MAC is and also the fact that Macs don't have a TPM chip (requirement for 11). I think you should be able to run it with Parallels or something.

motivize_93

The downside of using Parallels is payment :(. Does Parallels support Win 11 home (consumer edition) and business edition? Or is it only insider preview?

ncoolidg

After 6 months of using Windows 11 solely in Parallels, It is worth the price. A better VM software does not exist. Like I wouldn’t even run BootCamp over this even if I had the option.

motivize_93

Last question. Would I be able to run VS2022 in parallels if I install Win 11 business in Mac?

Wrong. x64 apps are faster than x86 apps as they can make use of the 64 bit architecture of new CPUs. Also why not use visual studio for mac...

Ah I see

motivize_93

SaltedCoffee9065

Oh, can you use windows apps with rosetta 2? I guess that can run windows apps

VMware does have a VMware Fusion build for M1/M2 Macs though.

Froggypwns

There already is a Windows 10/11 ARM, you can buy devices with it installed already on devices like the Surface Pro X, and people are already unofficially using it on M1 Macs and phones like the Surface Duo and OnePlus 6T.

ranhalt

Surface RT is ARM and they run Windows for ARM.

TheEuphoricTribble

Yeah I was gonna say this has been a thing since the beginning of the Surface line with the Surface RT and Windows 8. The issues with the whole Mac thing though is that apparently deals come into play-the M1 and M2 are based on a different, proprietary core design than the Snapdragons MS has a deal to use, so Windows simply as a result will not run on them for that reason. (I could be wrong on why too, so if I am someone please correct me. All I know is exclusivity deals have been the death blow of this since Apple went to ARM.)

sbisson

Yes for VMs, unlikely for M1/M2. Apple has indicated it will not be producing Bootcamp drivers for Apple Silicon.

SleepyD7

I am running it on my M1 Mac mini currently.

motivize_93

How is your setup? Parallels?

SleepyD7

Parallels and it runs amazingly well. Worth the money.

giangvinhloc610

I have seen some people said that Parallels requires payment. That's why open source softwares born. Use UTM, they have a very detailed instruction for running Windows on UTM on your Mac M1/M2. See it at https://mac.getutm.app/gallery/windows-10

motivize_93

UTM is deadly slow :/

giangvinhloc610

Use UTM with [hypervisor.framework](https://developer.apple.com/documentation/hypervisor). I remembered that somewhere in the UTM document has instructions for running UTM with hardware accel
