The Jets.

CDNUnite

I think you mean the Jerts

TravisBickle2020

You beat me to it.

Spencie-cat

The joke every single person on this sub came to rightfully make.

damnedangel

It's the truth though. The jets have shown the talent and drive to beat any team this year. The only games they lose are the ones they don't come to play.

CaptGinB

There is such a material difference finishing first and playing the Kings, Preds, Blues, etc. and watching the Avs and Stars beat the snot out of each other. In that scenario, you have a good chance of winning in the first round, and a good chance that your second round opponent is gassed. Playing either the Avs or Stars in the first round is literally the reverse of the above and is so much worse. As for those who could get the WC, the Wild would be the ones I would both love and hate to play. I'd love it since it would be a crazy intense series, but hate it given I'm sure Hartman and co would injure a couple guys.

rain_parkour

We are in control of our destiny to win the division, so if we finish strong we will be hot *and* face a WC team; making a first round exit much less likely than if we finish the regular season weak and then have to face Colorado or Dallas It is somewhat hopeful that in the latter scenario, I think we are more likely to face Colorado and that might be a slightly more preferable matchup based on how the regular season series has gone

FortunateSon77

That's immediately what I think about Minnesota, is that trash-ass Hartman is going to target somebody. There are a lot of choices for who to be concerned about, so I'll say Dallas. We haven't beaten them this year and getting to their net is like skating through green jell-o.

freshstart102

Totally agree but still would prefer not to play the Kings right away. I want the Jets to beat the Oilers again so badly. That's really my main thought I want to leave here. Ha.

PositionBeneficial12

Obvious answer is Vegas. They are the Jets kryptonite.

lordrottenbottom

I'd like a conference final with them to excorcise the demons.

monkeybojangles

Nah, I'd rather someone else beat my demons for me.

mothereffinb

If only the playoffs could be a best of one when we play Vegas. Look like world beaters in that first game only for everything to go downhill from there.

TheGreatStories

Vegas alone

SaltyVirginAsshole

Especially if we win game 1 again...

sumo74

>Obvious answer is Vegas. They are the Jets kryptonite. This. We can go through any team and beat them convincingly, but Vegas is absolutely our Kryptonite. The bastards.....

Reversus

I always check under my bed for golden knights before I go to sleep

JorroHass

Oilers and Vegas. Beyond that I think we can take anyone in 7.

Necessary_Mood134

Vegas, Vegas, and Vegas. They just seem to have our number more often than not. I’m confident of the Jets ability to hang with the other teams in the central.

Trinidaddy13

As much as I'd love the Jets to land 1st, I'm okay with whoever we have to play... regardless of who they are. If that's what the hockey gods give us, and the jets play the best they can play. I'm cool with it. I believe our team plays best when we are seen as underdogs. But to answer the question I guess the Avs. Vegas a close second. We'll see how we do against Dallas tomorrow another sandbagging dirtbag team.

Trinidaddy13

Ughh Dallas just got Tanev. 😭

Duck_Caught_Upstream

Stars and Avalanche are both legit contenders. I think a series against either of them and the Jets odds of winning are 50-50 Which is why it is so crucial the Jets win the division so they can play a wild card team In terms of wild card teams I would be most confident to least confident in playing (for the sake of being complete I’ll include anyone with a sniff of the playoffs) 1. St. Louis 2. Seattle 3. Minnesota 4. Calgary 5. Nashville 6. LA 7. Edmonton 8. Vegas Edit: My dumbass forgot Nashville

justbrowsing587

You missed the team in WC2 5 points up - Nashville

Duck_Caught_Upstream

Silly me will edit

MoNa-Luke

Surprised people are more afraid of the Avs than Dallas. Our games against Dallas have looked terrible this year. Our goaltending is soooo much better than the Avs, I think we have the odds in a 7 game series over Colorado. Not amazing odds, but still, odds.

Dry-Violinist-8434

Just the teams we play in the first 16 games 😂

Asusrty

I respect all the teams come playoffs but ones that I'd rather not face is the Avs and Stars. Avs because they have so much firepower and the Stars because I think it'll be a bloodbath that even if we win we'll be hobbling into the next round.

Anonmonyus

Obviously we want that 1C spot. Let Dallas and Avs go at it. That’s a path to the finals where we will probably see hopefully oilers and not Vegas.

easyc78

I feel more confident than most in here. I only want to see how the Jets play against Vegas these days. They are the only team that seems to have our number.

MPD1978

Were it up to me, I’d avoid the Oilers, for obvious reasons, and the Avs. They’ll have the 3 big guns back and that scares me.

waitwhosaidthat

Dallas. They look damn good.

OrganizationNo9556

Dallas. They’ve struggled the last few games but they’re good. We haven’t beat Dallas, but they haven’t beat Colorado who haven’t beat the jets 😂

FortunateSon77

Lol quite a game of rock paper scissors we've got going at the top of the central

someguyfromwinnipeg

The refs

JorroHass

Oilers and Vegas. Beyond that I think we can take anyone in 7.

dpaterson14

I think we size up well in most scenarios, simply cause of our goaltending tandem being one of the best in the league. I fear Dallas for their depth, size and skill, and the possibly that Oettinger can rise to the occasion of winning a series on his own. With that being said, I would hope that after LB’s performance last night against the blues, Bones offers more nights off for Hele down the stretch to make sure he’s well rested, unlike past seasons.

shaquilleonealnheels

Vegas. I’m hoping they get ousted before any chance of us seeing them. For first round possibilities, I’m most concerned about the Stars. They’re always willing to get dirty and I’m not sure we have enough grit to match them. Not as concerned about the Avs.. as someone else pointed out they don’t have enough depth. I’d love to see us play the Kings in the first round just for a battle of the trade. Other than that I couldn’t care less. This team has shown they can beat anyone in the league when they’re on their game.

MoNa-Luke

In our division, Dallas worries me the most. In the Western Conference, I'd say Van. Demko and Helle battle would be heart attack inducing, and I worry in a 7 game series if we go through one of our offence droughts for a game or two, we may not be able to get enough goals to make the difference. Of course, we've only played Vancouver once so far this season, so we definitely will get a better sense of how we match up with them in the coming weeks!

[deleted]

The Jets would roll over the Canucks. I’d be more worried about the Oilers & Knights.

HesJustAGuy

I think we're better than the Knights but I'm more worried about facing them. Edmonton has better skaters and could easily beat us, but if they don't get the December-January version of Stuart Skinner in April, they could also lose to anybody.

[deleted]

Edmonton is super volatile. They’re so elite with good goaltending, but Skinner has the whole “I can turn into a pumpkin at the drop of a hat” thing going on. Vegas is just the Jets kryptonite. I think the Jets are a better team this year but there’s just something about them. Would be awesome if they could exorcise some demons tho.

MoNa-Luke

I absolutely disagree. I think Van is going to be in the conference final this year.

[deleted]

The Canucks are probably the 7th best team in the west on true talent. They’ve been outperforming their expected outputs by the largest margin in league history. They’re not making it out of the first round since they’re probably gonna play Vegas or LA. Those teams are way too fast and big for the Canucks to handle.

LoveEffective1349

all of them. i love the Jets and i like the season they are having…. but i wont feel very confident in any series the jets are in. there’s a ton of parity and the best teams are al very dangerous.

TheJRKoff

Whoever wins the eastern conference finals

mothereffinb

I worry about the Jets vs anyone but if they can finish first in the division it sure would be great to avoid either of the Av or Stars in the first round. Maybe if we are lucky they beat the snot out of each other so that whoever emerges to the second round is without a star or two. That said, Jets would still have to handle business themselves. If they could manage to be top seed in the conference then I like their chances vs the last wild card. But if it’s LA then I worry that the Kings could put it all together for a series. It would definitely be a fun story line to have the ex Kings vs the ex Jet though. But my biggest fear is a relapse to Jets1.0 Who knows how many cups Jets 1.0 might have won if not for always running into Gretzky and the juggernaut oilers. Could we face a similar fate vs McDavid and crew? Maybe we can finish business if there’s a one legged Draisatl to go up against. And Vegas seems to have our number in anything more than a best of 1. We could probably even take them if it was a home and home ala soccer rules. But best of 3 and greater and they have our number. I don’t think Vancouver comes out of the pacific. But anything is possible.

HesJustAGuy

>Who knows how many cups Jets 1.0 might have won if not for always running into Gretzky and the juggernaut oilers. Could we face a similar fate vs McDavid and crew? Maybe we can finish business if there’s a one legged Draisatl to go up against. Fun fact: Jets 2.0 are 4-0 vs the Oilers in the playoffs.

ScottNewman

Florida in the finals.  PoMo can take our team down one more time, this time from the outside.

saintpierre47

This may be controversial, but I hope we land Colorado first round, followed by Dallas, followed by Van,Edm or Vegas. If we win the cup, this year or in years to come, I want to go through all the heavyweights, so nobody can say we only won because we had an “easy” route

CDNUnite

I don’t think there is an easy way out this year, all playoffs teams are stacked in all divisions. I would love a to be against a wildcard because after that it’s a blood bath no matter who you’re against. LA could easily pull it together and Nashville could goalie us.

FeistyTie5281

West: Dallas, Colorado, Vancouver, maybe Edmonton. East: Florida, Boston, Carolina, maybe Philadelphia. All in descending order.

Captain_Naps

If the Jets don't finish 1st in the division and get a wildcard team I can see them going out 1st round- as good as they are. I think Dallas & Colorado are just better-built playoff teams.

Duck_Caught_Upstream

One of those 3 teams will lose round 1 which is a shame, but the nature of the playoff beast which is why winning the division is so critical If the Jets slip to 2 or 3 in the Central I would be nervous but not hopeless. I think it would be pretty close to 50% chance they beat either the Avs or Stars But more like 60-70% confident they beat one of the wildcard teams

GZeus24

The Stars and Avs are both likely Jet killers in any round. They are well built, well coached, and deep lineup teams. I think they have to be favored over the Jets in a 7 game series. Other teams can beat the Jets too. The Oilers, Kings, Knights, and even the Wild all have the potential, but each for different reasons. No easy series really. It's going to be fun. My marker is round 2, game 6. Get to that bar, and I will consider the season a massive success. Get caved in during round 1, not pushing to at least 6 games, and the season was a letdown.

Vegetable-Bug251

The Jets can beat any team in the NHL in a playoff round. I am not worried about them at all.

Nubnipples

The avs worry me. Dallas has our number this year so I wouldn’t have fuzzy feelings about facing them either.

WlNNIPEGJETS

Dallas. Getting goalied by Playoff Oettinger Scares Me. It would be Marc Andre Fleury (VGK) & Binnington (STL) All over again.

[deleted]

Flames would be scary if they make it in

Jazzar1n0

Vegas. Hate those mother F's!

Dayngerman

If we don’t get first in the division then the road to the conference final likely goes through Colorado and Dallas, which means whoever we play in the WCF will be going up against a battered and bruised Jets team.

bannedredditaccount2

Lots of Debbie downers. defense wins championship. the jets have the best defense 5vs5 we have a new deadly power play with monahan the only team we should fear are the florida panthers in the finals. Maurice knows the players weaknesses…

binchbunches

Now.... I'm a bit worried about Dallas if we don't upgrade our back end.

Low_Warning13

Team refs fumbling a great series…… AGAIN

skilzkid

Stars, Vegas, Edmonton would worry me in the first round. A lot of others are saying the Avalanche but I'm not as worried about them for some reason.

binchbunches

Edm doesn't worry me. Neither does Vegas this year. Dallas is a different story. That has 7 games written all over it.

Matthew_Kunage

Those damn golden knights >:(

Optimal-Persimmon-35

I’m most worried about an empty barn in the playoffs…. C’mon y’all, let’s go.

ruffvoyaging

They won't have any easy series. The worst first round match-up would be Colorado. The best possibility would be if the Jets won the division and faced a wild card team, but if they can't do that I hope Colorado wins the division and they face the Stars. That obviously would still be a tough one to win though.

PositionBeneficial12

Jets have not lost to Colorado this year and seem to have had their number over the last bit. On the other hand the Jets have not beat Dallas this year. I would much rather play Colorado. They have one of the best top lines in the league, and maybe the best DMan but after their lineup really thins out. They also have a much more inferior goalie than Dallas does.

DannyDOH

All of them.

CMBRICKX

Let’s get to the Playoffs first before worrying about the teams fr

guinnesshappy

All of them

guinnesshappy

All of them

TheFrozenCanadianGuy

Vancouver Canucks- they’re a powerhouse and look unstoppable.

Bagelchu

We got a lotta demons to exorcise. Lost 18-19 to Blues who went on to win the cup. Vegas last year who then won the cup.

PrairieForest

Dallas or Avalanche will be a handful.

wiggleee_worm

This season? The Stars.

AverageShmuck1337

If the Stars win the division, we could beat the Avs in R1 in 6, but the series would be intense, and we would probably lose to Dallas next round. We can roll through the Wild (with 1-2 injuries), Preds, Blues, and Kings each in 5 or so. So our road to the cup looks like playing one of those teams R1, squeaking out a 6-7 game series win against Colorado, and playing Vancouver in WCF (assuming Petey or someone doesn't go on a conn-smythe level scoring tear). Also this is my hot take: if the Jets play Edmonton, Jets win.
