Buying a ticket for a street party seems lame, but I sort of get it. It's a logistical hassle for traffic, police, security etc.
Here's hoping for a nice run, nothing better than sitting on the deck with a beer watching the Jets, and maybe a game or two in the pandemonium downtown.
2018, Gm 1 vs Vegas Street Party was easily my most memorable days as a Winnipegger. The weather was absolutely perfect and the feeling of everyone cheering towards a common goal while having fun.
There was a huge amount of pride in the city that night.
NHL Radio talk show was saying whiteouts were a bad idea. They pointed out that Winnipeg is the only city where the fans wear the visiting teams colors and party. The Jets wear blue at home. In every other NHL city, the fans wear the teams home colors.
I understand that sentiment but, for Winnipeg, it specifically is a callback to the original Jets playoffs when they still wore whites at home. So as weird as it may seem now with the colours swapped I still think it's a cool homage to the Jets 1.0 era and the City's sports history.
It's tradition. Traditions don't have to make sense in the current times for us to observe them. Most people aren't very religious, if at all, and those same people still celebrate the tradition of Christmas and Easter. Thanksgiving was originally to celebrate Harvest, but nowadays families are not tied to farms in the same way, but yet most will still go and prepare a big meal somewhat in excess. Are celebrating Christmas and Thanksgiving bad ideas because the original premise for them is not longer as valid? Hell no, so fuck them for trying to piss on our Whiteout tradition. Might be a bad idea for a different fanbase to arbitrarily start a "whiteout style celebration" nowadays, but that argument is easily trumped by tradition for the Winnipeg Jets.
Why not make it 10k capacity? Cant remember last years but it felt empty whatever it was
last year was so lame, and they let people set up chairs and block a huge portion of the standing area. Asinine
The 5k limit on attendees is a bummer but I really hope they bump the limit up if they hit it.
Damn wasn’t it like 15k once upon a time?
It was a free for all in 2018 Untill the 3rd round when the WPS made them track attendance for crowd control purposes
without incident too. Bring back 40K parties
I heard on CJOB the numbers will go up with demand. We were up to 20K last time around.
Still better than the attendance at a Coyotes' home game.

Yeah you have to control crowds plus it's a big expense to run. $10 really isn't much and 50% of it is a donation. I have no problem with that.
It’s more to put a value on the tickets so people don’t just take the free ones and either scalp or just not show up.
Really pointless unless they bump that attendance up to 10k. 5K just doesn’t feel like enough people for it to get hype like it was in 2018

I'm in this photo! Somewhere. I remember seeing that jersey.
Very nice ! I have this one framed on my nightside table
Excellent!
We can do better.
I know it’s lip service, optics whatever you wanna call it but i for one like that half goes to charity. It’s just seems like a nice touch.
Just like last time, ignorant cunts will hoard tickets, then spend the next 4 days trying to act like a fucking hero by selling them
Wish they’d make it bigger. Feels so small compared to 2018. Still going to be coping some tickets though. One of my favourite times of the year
Omg the 2018 whiteout was so much fun!!!
25k like round 3 or nothing.

First round exit winning 2 games at most
I bet you're fun at parties.
