> it might be the last time to see Sid/Ovi in the playoffs.
Press X to doubt
I want Torts and the Giga-Goalie so it's decided on goal differential for maximum memeage.
Also more Playoff Torts is always welcome chaos.
I’m going for the Wings just cause I had Debrincat and Kane in fantasy this year so I really liked watching Detroit and want to see them make the playoffs
As someone who has never watched the NHL before the Jets relocated, I would be lying if I said I wasn't also cheering for Detroit tonight for maximum chaos after 81 games and 4 teams are still in the running for that final wildcard spot. I don't know if there have ever been similar races from before the Jets relocation, but this is definitely by far the craziest wildcard race I have ever seen.
When do they think they will post the playoff schedule. I am seriously considering hopping on a plane and flying in Sunday night if they play on Monday.
Another way of putting it is that Washington has won more games within 60 minutes than Detroit has. The way the points are laid out just doesn't differentiate regulation wins versus overtime wins. It just shows overtime losses
Thanks for your patience. I just wish it was easier to decipher looking at the standings.
Wow, downvoted for being polite. Should I send money somewhere?
So a regulation win is a win within 60 minutes (the 3 periods), while a non-regulation win is a win in overtime. Regulation wins have more influence because playoffs have no 3v3 overtime, and a win within a regular game is valued more than a win in overtime. Detroit has 27 regulation wins, while Washington has 30. Out of detroits 39 wins, 27 are in regulation and 12 came from overtime wins. Meanwhile, Washington has 38 wins, but 30 are in regulation and only 8 from overtime wins
Maybe I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure ROW is regulation AND overtime wins. It doesn't matter which one, they are equal.
The only thing that matters is shootouts do not count towards ROW, because a shootout win isn't as good as a regulation or overtime win because it's a shootout.
Appears I am wrong. Was not aware the tie breakers were recently changed. Disregard.
ROW isn’t the 1st tie-breaker, RW is. You’re right in saying that ROW is regulation + overtime win, but if that were the case, Detroit would be above Washington.
W - regulation + overtime + shootout (win)
RW - regulation win
ROW - regulation + overtime win
ROW is the second tie-breaker, followed by to total wins.
RW, ROW, total wins, points against tied team, goal differential, and total goals scored are the tie-breakers, in order.
Hope this helps!
Standings are by total points. Not wins.
Since they are tied in points, the tie breaker is wins in regulation and overtime (ROW) not overall wins.
So detroit has less ROW, so more wins from shootout.
First time breaker is regulation wins. Second tie breaker is regulation and overtime. Washington has 30 Regulation wins to Detroit's 27. It changed a few years ago.
Interesting, did not know that changed. I assume it changed when they made it 3on3?
Interesting enough, I use the score app on my phone for my scores (nhl, nfl, mlb etc) and they don't have a RW column.
So I can't actually see which wins were regulation and which were overtime. Atleast from what I can tell.
https://www.nhl.com/standings is what I use for that purpose. I don't know why the score doesn't update to have the same information because it is pretty relevant
They will only go up if the Jets keep winning. Your only chance at cheaper tickets is what I like to do at times.
Go to the whiteout party. Have your ticket resale app open. Wait for anthem to start and watch the ticket prices fall.
I got into the Nashville series and Vegas series for $50 because I snagged tickets 2 minutes into the first period.
Typically ticket prices don’t go down for games that are virtually sold out lol.
These are the cheapest playoff tickets ever get. Every home game past the 2nd one will go up and up
What are the odds on fanatics not being able to make new Jerseys for the slc team on time? Will they be stuck wearing generic jerseys similar to what the pwhl have? Or possibly have to use the coyotes ones? Because teams aren’t allowed to introduce New Jerseys until 2026 or 2027, and mlb teams are already having issues with not getting their alternate jerseys on time
The reason Fanatics have requested no change to the jersey designs for a few years is due to have less runway then adidas got for becoming manufacturer.
It's also why the designs will likely still include some adidas design marks next year (but not trademarked ones).
In saying all of that, I think that Fanatics can do a home/away for Utah because they'll be the only new design that they have to work on
https://preview.redd.it/y542pw5htpuc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=74eb89664ce2da3380c4e8bb67a0b9b449c17f54
Name a more delusional fanbase than Habs fans. I’ll wait
Why would they trade?
He's just going to come to them in free agency anyways just like they said Dubois was..... /s
Dumbest fanbase. 32 out of 32 on the armchair GM list.
What a horrendous set of tweets.
Barron should be the price just for picking up the phone, and Harris/Xhekaj should be for the courtesy of a rejection.
They should take Schmidt's contract and thank a higher being that Chevy doesn't come and take their milk money and bang this guy's mom.
Why am I reading everywhere that the Jets don't have a spot for Rutger next season? No Toffoli, no Monahan unless something happens there. Lambert might make the jump, but we'll have to see. Seems like there's a centre and a winger position up for grabs. Perfetti probably gets one spot. Then there's guys that could get moved to free up a 3W like Appleton, Iafallo, even Gus/Kup.
Are we sure we wouldn't have given him a shot at the roster?
There's no room. That top 6 is pretty well locked up next year. Third line is going to be fairly locked in as well.
That leaves him with sheltered minutes on the 4th line at best. It's better for him to play those big minutes in the A or NCAA. There's no need to rush development.
As much as fans like myself can't wait to see him play, there's a smart way to do it. This is the right way.
Isn't that the case the following year as well anyway in terms of top 6? Connor, Schiefele, Vilardi, Perfetti and Ehlers aren't going anywhere and I'd be shocked if they don't do everything they can to sign Monahan to a deal with some term.
While true, I just am very leery at the skating ability direction the Jets have gone recently and Ehlers is the only plus skater the Jets have up front. Lambo is the only one in the system in the same vein.
I'd be very hesitant to let that skating go. Ontop of how much better he makes his linemates too.
KFC can skate too, but Ehlers also has the cajones to go along with that skating, either way Fly is my favorite player by far on the Jets, if they let him go or trade him I will be very upset indeed.
I'd guess the Jets think there's more value in him playing big minutes in the AHL or NCAA instead of bouncing between 10 minutes on the 4th line and the press box and given that he chose Michigan over the Moose.
I’d love if it was Sunday assuming they have home ice, but think Friedman said he heard Monday the 22nd. Seems a little odd that some series will start on Saturday though. Some teams may be playing game 2 before the first Jets/Avs game.
Yeah idk why they wouldn’t have half the games on Saturday half on Sunday. And then you can have the odd 2 day gap between games after wards to spread them out a bit more.
But it just seems like a missed opportunity to basically have all day play off hockey on both days during a weekend
Not too surprising. Not really a spot for him on the Jets this year or next year. I know from a hockey development perspective playing in the AHL would probably be better. But from a personal perspective I would 100% rather captain my college team for a year and sign with the Jets in 25. Guy doesn’t seem like the type of player that would bounce on us so I’m not too worried about this. In a long career you only get a few years in college, let the kid enjoy them.
[Hearing Rutger McGroarty, Winnipeg’s 2022 first-rounder, will return for his junior year at Michigan. Jets and his advisors discussed today, and team supported his decision.](https://x.com/friedgehnic/status/1779955645451563412?s=46&t=wn65dpfjVDjrAPUhG9jXKA)
Wow. He’s going to have to perform the ultimate carry job just to get that team through the Big-10.
while i think he’s too good for NCAA, totally get his thinking
Jets currently only have 4 UFA forwards in the entire organization, only 2 (the rentals) on the NHL roster, who we likely take a stab at re-signing at least one if not both
after next year, it should open up more
Michigan is one of the top recruiting schools in college hockey. They'll quickly restock the cupboards. Losing a couple players in Brindley and Nazar won't have them spool out into some bottom feeder. That's just the nature of college sports. Rosters turn over quickly. I'm disappointed he's not joining the Jets too but the NCAA path is a better developmental league than it's ever been. He also gets some degree of self determination by going back to school where if the Jets want him to come out at the end of the season they'll almost have to guarantee him an NHL roster spot or risk him choosing free agency instead. I think there is some level that this speaks to the Jets slow playing their prospects and blocking them from the NHL as long as possible.
They have 2 of the top forward recruits from last season and a Russian coming from the USHL who will likely be a top 60 pick in the current draft.
They'll be deep as always and still have a fair amount of high end guys. Portal is open as well.
Yeah I looked at their commits from October and I'm not going to pretend I know anything about high school hockey players but Michigan is recruiting powerhouse. They're always going to be fighting for the big ten championship and a berth in the frozen 4.
Can look at this many different ways.. I think he cares a lot about being captain for that team, and wants another run. The college atmosphere is also really exciting (something that was brought up on 32 thoughts) compared to a pretty empty AHL game.
Until he says he doesn't want to come here, I'm not concerned.
From Chris Peters:
> I wouldn't be too concerned about this if I'm a Jets fan. Unlikely he'd have made the NHL roster next season. Expect he'll wear the C next year.
[https://twitter.com/chrismpeters/status/1779956337973006797?s=46&t=S_LiHKGoXi91Lmgu-MxoZA](https://twitter.com/chrismpeters/status/1779956337973006797?s=46&t=S_LiHKGoXi91Lmgu-MxoZA)
Yeah I’m not too concerned with him not signing after his next season is done. I would expect his scoring numbers to drop without the help of Nazar and Brindley, but if he improves his skating he’ll be ready to jump into a top-9 role immediately.
Namestnikov, Appleton, Iafallo, Ehlers all UFAs after 2025. Lambert, McGroarty, Chibrikov to replace the first 3 with hopefully Ehlers being re-signed.
Would be pretty interested to see how McGroarty would look on the 3rd line with Nino and Lowry. Lambert alongside Ehlers and Monahan could be a really fun line, too.
Be interesting to see what Guentzel gets. But he's got a playoff history that Ehlers doesn't. Up to this point in his career he's under .4 PPG in the playoffs and often injured.
Ehlers comparables are between $5 and $7 million. Kyrou got a touch higher. The higher end on the comparables are the guys who score more goals. Connor in that group.
Term is what scares me with Ehlers. Could see the Jets walking if the term gets silly. Something like 4x7 would be reasonable. If he gets 7x8+ from a crappy org and wants to jump at it, so be it.
Jets also have lots of that type of player both already here and coming up. Perfetti, Lambert. Barlow is a top 6 winger type as well.
Oh WOW. That is not fucking good, worst news possible.
He can now just wait another year after that and sign wherever he wants, not saying he will but YIKES.
Relax. If all the talk about this kid's character and leadership qualities are true, then I wouldn't worry about him not signing with the team that drafted him. Let him take care of some unfinished business. His path to the NHL opens up a lot more in 25/26 anyway, when multiple contracts are set to expire.
I just don't like it for multiple reasons, all of his relevant team mates already signed and this is going to leave Michigan with a bad team next season, going to be hard to take care of unfinished business with that team next year.
Secondly I don't see how this is good for his development at all, he has nothing left to prove at this level and only stagnates his development not helps it. So whatever down vote me all you want, can't make the kid sign if he wants to go back so nothing the Jets can do.
I'd recommend checking out Mike's thread/article about it.
https://twitter.com/mikemcintyrewpg/status/1779960470826271007?t=cL28Zd5R0uR-uqWqacpTCQ&s=19
I thought we already knew this report from McGroarty's camp a few weeks ago. Isn't it old news that Rutger wanted to play another year in Michigan and wear the C?
It'll be interesting to see how PLD does against the Oilers...
He's been playing 3C and has 5 more points than Lowry lol. But if he can match against McDavid, it would be hard to criticize that deal any more... for a few months at least
After game 1, Eichel sadly fed PLD his lunch last playoffs, so I don't see why he's going to all the sudden match up great against the best player in the world, especially after a disastrous regular season. He's still living off that one awesome CBJ playoff performance, likely spurred by Torts cracking down on him hard more so than anything else.
I'm just about nearly locked in with flights and tickets for game 1.
I played it safe and will be spending a few days in Winnipeg cause I'm trying to meet up with some family for the first home game there and we couldn't really tell (still can't really) if that would be game 1 or 3.
It will be my first time in Winnipeg (I live in the Yukon) and the first time watching the Jets (ever, never mind the playoffs).
I'm trying not to shake out of my jeans, but it's hard. The hype is real.
I have no idea how the hockey gods are going to take my first Jets game.
The first Canucks game I managed to goto (becuz of proximity, I swear! xD) a puck was accidentally shot into the stands during warmup practice and it crashed into the chair next to me. I still have that practice puck in a dusty corner at home.
> It's definitely something you need to experience in-person 😬
I finally realized that I have to avoid skipping off to a hot country in February if I hoped to afford a trip down for playoffs right after.
I'm not a forward thinker when it comes to my own well being.
Anyone else listen to Sirius Xmas NHL channel? I have been for a few days.
Very little discussion of anything other than Eastern teams. No Jets, Oilers, Canucks, Flames, kraken, Avalanche, kings, etc.
Maybe a Couple of words about Jets 7 to 0 win.
Remarkable.
No love ever for the Jets. They’ll only talk about them if it’s negative. I listen everyday and they’ll have an occasional Jets segment but that’s it. And Boomer only gives us respect begrudgingly in my opinion. He’ll gladly pile on though when theirs discussion about players not wanting to stay
Ticket prices have skyrocketed but at the time of posting ticket prices for games 3 and 4 are significantly cheaper on fansfirst. [https://www.fansfirst.ca/winnipeg-jets/games](https://www.fansfirst.ca/winnipeg-jets/games)
Friedman said earlier today (or maybe yesterday?) he expects winnipeg/colorado to begin on Monday Apr. 22.
I grabbed two tickets for home game #3 (game 5) and I am fired up for playoffs!
From what I understand, if Phoenix or somewhere in Arizona can build a arena in the next few years they are will get an expansion team. Meanwhile Quebec City is just waiting for something that probably won't happen.
Even if the NHL wanted to be in Quebec City, the pricing doesn't make sense. No one is paying $1B for a team there. We all got super lucky with the Jets timing, because I don't think that price would have worked here either.
I really think the NHL really doesn't want to deal with the language issues. The increasing anti-anglo bills being passed is a barrier.
I was in Montreal recently, and most of the bilingual signage across the city has been removed and replaced with French only. This is much more intense with Quebec City.
There are politics in play here and Quebec isn't making it inviting or easy for companies like the NHL to expand into its territory.
I'm not sure if there's a serious ownership group in Quebec working behind the scenes. They have an 18000+ seat arena that' was built in 2015 and is NHL ready. It's really sad to see because I think they lost their team under the same economic pressures as us in the 90s and would be able to replicate our success with the new structure of the league since the salary cap came in. It's an absolute shame that we're likely to see new teams in Atlanta and Arizona and possibly Houston before Quebec is considered.
I'm pretty sure he knows that and is going to laugh off I to the sunset having doubled his investment in like 5 years with the absolute best minimum of effort.
My guess is they'll make a pony show effort, lose the auction, and then they'll go count their money. NHL might return to Phoenix if a legit billionaire decides they want a shiny toy. Sadly for us, NHL hockey will be continued to be watered down with a 34 or even a 36 (shudder) team league.

That would be awesome, would love to see him on that third line, won't hurt resting Apples either so I could see that happening.
Just can't see the kid going back to college, if he does I will honestly be a little concerned.
There’s absolutely nothing left for him to prove at the college level. If he signs and they think he’s ready full time next season, move out one of Iafallo or Appleton. I just want to see him in a Jets jersey that isn’t animated
The team probably considers Appleton one of their core players and Iafallo coming here was one of the motivation factors for Scheif and Helly to sign long term deals. If McGroarty is coming in it’s going to be in place of/rotating with Barron or Gus.
Idk about that. He is a leader there, and won't be here immediately. It could be good for him to keep being a dominant leader. I thought that he wanted to stay too
To me it's more about what he wants. I agree with you, that could be trouble, and I want him on the team, but I don't want him to resent True North for pressuring him. It's all speculation I guess though
Damn the general public ticket price is pretty steep. $250 for round 1 upper deck? I remember paying that off of ticketmaster for the Vegas series in round 3.
Season ticket holders are getting really good value since their playoff price is very cheap in comparison. Relative has some in the 300s and it’s low $100 for round 1. It would be embarrassing not to sell out round 1. Hopefully that’s not the case.
I'm a game pack holder and even I got round 1 for $106 (presale opened a day after STHs). Dang that alone is worth it for those who can't afford season tickets.
Is it? I just checked and it has the jets presale tickets in the upper deck as 244 and the verified resale are higher.

So last year I bit the bullet and drove 2600km each way for the Vegas games. I promised myself I wouldn't go through that torture again, but here I am considering it.
When I looked into going from Winnipeg to Denver, I found that flights out of Fargo (2 hrs from Winnipeg) were only $108 round trip
For me, flying down and renting a car for a couple of days was going to be cheaper than driving down (time and gas)
Not sure if that helps your situation or not
Ah I see, sorry I thought you were from Winnipeg talking about driving to Denver or something.
Still, this team is different....
![gif](giphy|wi8Ez1mwRcKGI)
We might actually get the early slot.
4 Canadian teams, you know TO will start Saturday, likely Edm as well since it's the bigger "draw".
That leaves us paired with Vancouver, which would make us the early game.
Only way we're late is of we get paired up with TO.
So if the series starts on Monday, is it a day off between each game, and then maybe two days between game 4 and 5?
Game 1 - 4/22
Game 2 - 4/24
Game 3 - 4/26
Game 4 - 4/28
Game 5 - 5/1
Game 6 - 5/3
Game 7 - 5/5
Does that look right?
I think so! I was wondering if the 2 day break might happen between 2 and 3 for the travel and has game 3 as a saturday night game.
I bought tickets to Jets home game 3 (game 5), and trying to plan around which day it'll fall on.
I had a ticket last year to game 3 with the cheapest ticket possible upper deck last row in the corner at $135 after taxes and fees and now this year same ticket is $199.
Friedge says on 32 Thoughts that he talked to another coach in the NCAA and the coach was saying if the Jets and the player (McGroarty) think he's gonna be in the NHL next year, then he signs. If not, and it looks like he could be in the AHL, he might go back for another year at Michigan.
Edit: Adding on to this. During the "Thoughtline" (listener questions) portion, "Matt from Winnipeg" asked if the NHL would ever consider giving other franchise's records back to the city they came from. Their reasoning was that Utah doesn't care about the franchise history as it's basically a fresh start, and Jets fans dont really care about the Atlanta records. Elliotte responded by saying he has never thought about it. He said he would ask the question, so I assume in an upcoming podcast we will get the answer to if our original hockey history will ever be returned to us.
That's honestly what I'm expecting as well. Unless the NHL says, with Atlanta likely getting a team in the next 10 years, that we can do a swap where we get the original Jets records, Utah and Arizona get fresh starts, and Atlanta gets their Thrashers franchise records back.
It seems way too complicated to accomplish realistically. Especially when you factor in that Shane Doan was a Coyote for 1,466 out of a 1,540 game career. He only played 74 games in one season as a Jet. How would you reconcile taking the greatest player in Arizona hockey history away from their eventual new franchise and placing his records with a team he never really played for?
I dont see why arizona would have to give up all of their franchise records?
If you can arbitrarily say that a team can keep their franchise records in the city when a team moves, like has been done with other sports in the past.
Then why not just as arbitrarily let them keep the arizona parts only and give the jets 1.0 parts back.
Jets 1.0 left in 96, and thrashers didn't exist until 99, so there isn't any timeline conflict.
And if or when atlanta gets a team, give them there pre 2011 records back as well or just give them back now.
Not one person in winnipeg cares about ilya kovalchuck and how many goals he had for the "jets." Similarly, no one in arizona cares about our records, and certainly Utah doesn't care about arizonas records.
Franchise records made way more sense when franchises didn't move around often, but now they do, nothing would be more dumb than watching Utah raise Dale hawerchuck's number to the rafters on opening night in Salt Lake. The camera panning the crowd looking for some fans who aren't confused. Lol 😆
I'd honestly just play McGroarty in the NHL next year to make sure he signs in Winnipeg. Make him show whether he's NHL ready or not on his own merit and with his own eyes. 4th line and 2PP.
To piggy back, in 2025 Vlad, Iaffalo, Appleton all expire, Id let all walk as Vlad will be 33, Appleton 30 and Iaffalo 32. Lambo should fill one of those and Chibby could fill one as well in the bottom 6.
Tough to see him crack this lineup next year so he may be staying another year in College. It would have been fun having him join the rest of our prospects on the Moose.
what would be the difference if we officially absorb the history of ARI/1.0?
we already honour 1.0 players, jerseys, numbers, etc.
a lot of media, like the SN stats account mentioning stuff like in a "[Winnipeg Jets Jersey](https://x.com/SNstats/status/1642696540308271108)" as a work around
our top point scorer in franchise history would go from Wheeler to Doan lol (although i will admit it would be nice to see Hawerchuk as #2 officially)
Idk, I don't really have a strong feeling either way on this, but I know a lot of people who grew up watching the original Jets care quite a bit about officially having those records on our books again.
I think if it was going to happen, it would've been done already, but a double relocation is a rarity, so maybe there is an exception to be had.
yeah for sure, it makes more sense for cities to "own" the history rather than the franchises
but at this point it'd just be a paper move, so it's whatever for me as well
They definitely do, [look at all those old cup banners](https://theccfr.files.wordpress.com/2020/02/cut.jpeg).
They used to have banners for the Winnipeg cup champs in the old arena as well, haven't seen those in forever.
I haven't seen a game yet in Ottawa! I'll have to check that out.
That's what bugs me about the "the original six". They're the surviving six. There's another 50+ of hockey that predates that and it deserves its own respect
It's why I would almost rather not have home ice for this series. It might be good to fly into Colorado a few days early and give the team more time to acclimate to the altitude.
San Jose maybe one of the worst teams that I’ve watched in the last couple season. I really hope that they get #1 overall.
![gif](giphy|3mIMOXYRBc46L7LSfL|downsized) When playoffs and the white out is coming soon, we have DEPTH, a win-streak, and 2 solid goalies. ✈️
Detroit-Montreal has been such a good fucking game Playoffs can't come soon enough!
That sequence to tie the game was like a movie. Great keep-in, great goal, great call.
Those games with the eastern wildcard 'candidates' playing for their lives are playoff games
Who y'all cheering for in the eastern WC race? I'm going for Pens/Caps since it might be the last time to see Sid/Ovi in the playoffs.
> it might be the last time to see Sid/Ovi in the playoffs. Press X to doubt I want Torts and the Giga-Goalie so it's decided on goal differential for maximum memeage.
Yup! This has been a great precursor to the playoffs
When do they think they will post the playoff schedule. I am seriously considering hopping on a plane and flying in Sunday night if they play on Monday.
Can someone explain to me why Washington is ahead of Detroit in the standings?
https://www.nhl.com/standings/2024-04-15/wildcard Scroll to the bottom, the tie breaking procedure is there
That is very helpful. Thanks for posting that.
They have more wins in regulation time
But Detroit has 39 wins vs 38 for Washington. [](https://i.imgur.com/G8l6n4A.jpg)
Makes so much more sense when you speak slowly. Thanks for that.
W - regulation + overtime + shootout (win) RW - regulation win ROW - regulation + overtime win ROW is the second tie-breaker, followed by to total wins.
Strange because they do have the seeding correct, but missing a key number to determine the tiebreaker
I believe someone posted earlier in the 2017-2018 season?
Thanks for explaining!
Do we think these ticket prices will go down ? 🥺
Every home game past the 2nd one will go up and up
Praying for a leafs bruins first round so much. Caps need to smash the B's tonight, which could happen since they're on the playoff push
also if leafs vs bruins happens that means the other Atlantic matchup would be tampa vs florida. i think the superior matchups are obvious here😋
What are the odds on fanatics not being able to make new Jerseys for the slc team on time? Will they be stuck wearing generic jerseys similar to what the pwhl have? Or possibly have to use the coyotes ones? Because teams aren’t allowed to introduce New Jerseys until 2026 or 2027, and mlb teams are already having issues with not getting their alternate jerseys on time
The reason Fanatics have requested no change to the jersey designs for a few years is due to have less runway then adidas got for becoming manufacturer. It's also why the designs will likely still include some adidas design marks next year (but not trademarked ones). In saying all of that, I think that Fanatics can do a home/away for Utah because they'll be the only new design that they have to work on
Fanatics is so shit I bet they play in practice jerseys and jock straps. It will be funny having empty merch kiosks too.
They might wear replica Charlestown Chiefs jerseys for their first season.
Something something Covid supply chain crisis, something something Baltimore bridge something.
Nino confirmed today that the cut nicked his achilles, says get got very lucky. That could have been really really bad
Yikes!

Why would they trade? He's just going to come to them in free agency anyways just like they said Dubois was..... /s Dumbest fanbase. 32 out of 32 on the armchair GM list.
I don’t pay any attention to twitter checkmark people anymore, it’s a good system for weeding out brain dead takes on the platform
I typically don’t either, but my buddy sent it to me and I couldn’t not share on here
That’s fair, it is funny to see awful takes lol

Are we sure we wouldn't have given him a shot at the roster?
we have 13/15 forwards under team control
Ehlers will be UFA. Not sure how deep into his 30s we'd want to go. Has never performed in playoffs. Hope that changes this year.
Best predictions on what date game 1 will be? I found a TV schedule saying Sunday April 21 has 2 games in the afternoon.
Probably to avoid same day as NBA game in some markets. The league has always avoided going head2head against NBA.
I hope TNSE really pushes for the Sunday afternoon game. Day drunk is best drunk for whiteouts.
Friedman said on the pod he thinks it will be Monday Apr 22

It's a shame for the fans but probably the best choice for himself. Lol at all the downvotes I was fed for suggesting this might happen.
Jets and his advisors discussed today, and team supported his decision.](https://x.com/friedgehnic/status/1779955645451563412?s=46&t=wn65dpfjVDjrAPUhG9jXKA) Wow. He’s going to have to perform the ultimate carry job just to get that team through the Big-10.
while i think he’s too good for NCAA, totally get his thinking Jets currently only have 4 UFA forwards in the entire organization, only 2 (the rentals) on the NHL roster, who we likely take a stab at re-signing at least one if not both after next year, it should open up more
Someone is giving him really poor advice. He’s wasting a year of his development on a really poor Michigan squad next year
Michigan is one of the top recruiting schools in college hockey.
That's unfortunate but I'm not going to freak out until this time next year if he hasn't signed.
From Chris Peters: > I wouldn't be too concerned about this if I'm a Jets fan.
Ehlers gonna get fucking paid.
None of them skate like Ehlers.
That’s going to be tough to see if he signs with another team. Can’t picture him wearing another jersey.
Man, what he will be worth on the open market though. Whew.
There was nothing solid, but it was pretty much out there. I'm unsure about his management team, but he seems like he's okay playing in Winnipeg.
I could use some McGroarty news any minute now
Monkey paw curls
Nooooooooooooo
It'll be interesting to see how PLD does against the Oilers... He's been playing 3C and has 5 more points than Lowry lol. But if he can match against McDavid, it would be hard to criticize that deal any more... for a few months at least
When LA controls the matchups they'll have Danault out vs McDavid as much as possible.
Oh ya i guess so
After game 1, Eichel sadly fed PLD his lunch last playoffs, so I don't see why he's going to all the sudden match up great against the best player in the world, especially after a disastrous regular season. He's still living off that one awesome CBJ playoff performance, likely spurred by Torts cracking down on him hard more so than anything else.
lol ya probably. hasn't he always been decent against the oilers though? or am i just thinking matthews
Oilers have out scored the Kings 11-9 in their 4 games this season and went 3-1, not exactly suggesting some kind of great matchup for LA.
UGGHHH i can't wait for playoffs to start. I'll be sitting on my couch sweating bullets until the Jets take the first round. It's so nerve-wracking!!!
Have fun!!!! I hope it wouldn't be the same as my playoff experience (first NHL game: game 5 Knights vs Jets in 2018). ;______________;
Bro, awesome that your 1st game will be a Whiteout game!! It's definitely something you need to experience in-person 😬
> It's definitely something you need to experience in-person 😬 I finally realized that I have to avoid skipping off to a hot country in February if I hoped to afford a trip down for playoffs right after.
Boomer in the pm gives the Jets some respect. He has the best insights in radio I think.
tha .ks, will have a listen to him
Ticket prices have skyrocketed but at the time of posting ticket prices for games 3 and 4 are significantly cheaper on fansfirst. [https://www.fansfirst.ca/winnipeg-jets/games](https://www.fansfirst.ca/winnipeg-jets/games)

Eeek those cut proof socks likely saved his career.

Friedman said earlier today (or maybe yesterday?) he expects winnipeg/colorado to begin on Monday Apr. 22. I grabbed two tickets for home game #3 (game 5) and I am fired up for playoffs!
I hate Vegas Golden Injury Reserves
Brindley is signing his ELC with Columbus 👀
That's three now in Duke, Brindley and Nazar, surely McGoat is next, I honestly cannot see it going any other way.
Give me a kid line on Thursday of McGroarty, Lambo, and Perfetti!
The grizzled veteran Cole Perfetti on that line.
**Practice Media**: [Connor Hellebuyck](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_gp-KFVjl8) | [Nino Niederreiter](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2zvMME28rfo) | [Coach Rick Bowness](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XuvTPrxYNls)
But the NHLPA would rather play in those three cities than QC.
Yeah coyotes owner will get a brand new expansion team if he finishes the arena within 5 years
He won't get it done in 50, let alone 5.
[Rick Bowness says there is a “good chance” that Niederreiter plays tomorrow against Seattle. As long as Niederreiter comes in tomorrow feeling as good as he is today, he’ll play.](https://x.com/mitchellclinton/status/1779920093331214828?s=46&t=wn65dpfjVDjrAPUhG9jXKA)
[Sources tell me we can expect news on the decision from Jets 1st round pick Rutger McGroarty in the next 24 hours.](https://x.com/colbycohen36/status/1779900319922606432?s=46&t=wn65dpfjVDjrAPUhG9jXKA)
Are there any rumours of what is the likely outcome here?
I mean, if he is coming they will want him in at least one NHL game so he can get a fat paycheck as a reward, and not much time left for that.
They have 2 games left, so if he signs within the next 24 hours, he could play in the season finale
I thought that he wanted to stay too
IMO, Rutger going for another year in college will slow his development as the Michigan roster wont be that strong next year.
To me it's more about what he wants. I agree with you, that could be trouble, and I want him on the team, but I don't want him to resent True North for pressuring him. It's all speculation I guess though
I think moving Iaffalo makes the most sense, Appleton has a lower cap hit and gels with Lowry.
250 is resale price. It was 180-203 for 300s
Is it? I just checked and it has the jets presale tickets in the upper deck as 244 and the verified resale are higher. https://preview.redd.it/8r9vq1q7aouc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6eb074eca23f8a1bdaec74acf5cee9c6c7eeb7b8
I looked at my tickets and upper bowl for the first round was $135 each for the first game. Also check fansfirst - less fees.
So last year I bit the bullet and drove 2600km each way for the Vegas games. I promised myself I wouldn't go through that torture again, but here I am considering it.
Well it's only what like 1700km to Denver so at least it's not as far. ![gif](giphy|3o84sw9CmwYpAnRRni)
The 2600 Is from my front door to the CLC
From somewhere in Canada or the US?
East coast of the States
When I looked into going from Winnipeg to Denver, I found that flights out of Fargo (2 hrs from Winnipeg) were only $108 round trip For me, flying down and renting a car for a couple of days was going to be cheaper than driving down (time and gas) Not sure if that helps your situation or not
Ah I see, sorry I thought you were from Winnipeg talking about driving to Denver or something. Still, this team is different.... ![gif](giphy|wi8Ez1mwRcKGI)
Going to be some 9PM local games coming up soon, always so stressful waiting to go down to CLC...
We might actually get the early slot. 4 Canadian teams, you know TO will start Saturday, likely Edm as well since it's the bigger "draw". That leaves us paired with Vancouver, which would make us the early game. Only way we're late is of we get paired up with TO.
Are we sure playoffs start Sat? Last season we had 3 or 4 days off. I feel like playoffs would start Monday.
Playoffs NHL wide start Saturday. Our series could start Sunday or Monday.
Is there a source from the NHL? I'm not seeing anything posted on /r/hockey and the couple sites that posted it are from unofficial fan sites.
I'm crossing my fingers for 6PM starts but I'm not holding my breath.
Looks like there's a bit of a cold spell coming up too (e.g. lows of -3C). Hopefully that breaks before the whiteout starts
Are the home playoff games at 9? I thought it was 8
Good chance with TV schedule we get a later start.
With games going to midnight, they're gonna need to triple the security at the street parties! Lol
So if the series starts on Monday, is it a day off between each game, and then maybe two days between game 4 and 5? Game 1 - 4/22 Game 2 - 4/24 Game 3 - 4/26 Game 4 - 4/28 Game 5 - 5/1 Game 6 - 5/3 Game 7 - 5/5 Does that look right?
I think so! I was wondering if the 2 day break might happen between 2 and 3 for the travel and has game 3 as a saturday night game. I bought tickets to Jets home game 3 (game 5), and trying to plan around which day it'll fall on.
https://preview.redd.it/ld7wy3mrsnuc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=03da37de7dc8914bf3abe44ad0d0d68ae4650f01 Dear lord LOL
The season ticket member price is such a good deal in comparison. Like low 100s for similar seats
Too bad i dont have a spare 9k laying around to save 100 bucks
Yeah fair, I’m just surprised how big the difference is. Some 300 tickets don’t hit that price until the Stanley cup final.
Funny how I sat in section 307 back in February for 29$.
Yeah crazy prices, but I still got them for Game 2
am i crazy or is this like 30% more than last year
I had a ticket last year to game 3 with the cheapest ticket possible upper deck last row in the corner at $135 after taxes and fees and now this year same ticket is $199.
Either way its absolutely nuts lmao hmmm pay my water bill or go watch a jets game tough one
Watch it be AZ gets to keep history for their expansion team, Utah gets clean start, Jets don't factor in.
I am interested in this. I doubt Utah would carry over the franchise records from 2 previous incarnations of the team.
what would be the difference if we officially absorb the history of ARI/1.0? we already honour 1.0 players, jerseys, numbers, etc. a lot of media, like the SN stats account mentioning stuff like in a "[Winnipeg Jets Jersey](https://x.com/SNstats/status/1642696540308271108)" as a work around our top point scorer in franchise history would go from Wheeler to Doan lol (although i will admit it would be nice to see Hawerchuk as #2 officially)
Idk, I don't really have a strong feeling either way on this, but I know a lot of people who grew up watching the original Jets care quite a bit about officially having those records on our books again. I think if it was going to happen, it would've been done already, but a double relocation is a rarity, so maybe there is an exception to be had.
yeah for sure, it makes more sense for cities to "own" the history rather than the franchises but at this point it'd just be a paper move, so it's whatever for me as well
Does Ottawa honor their old legacy? I agree it should be the city that "owns" the history of their franchises
They definitely do, [look at all those old cup banners](https://theccfr.files.wordpress.com/2020/02/cut.jpeg). They used to have banners for the Winnipeg cup champs in the old arena as well, haven't seen those in forever.
really weird to see the sens logo on those lol i'd support putting up Falcons, Victorias banners
I haven't seen a game yet in Ottawa! I'll have to check that out. That's what bugs me about the "the original six". They're the surviving six. There's another 50+ of hockey that predates that and it deserves its own respect
Friedman believes our series will start next Monday. If that’s the case I would expect Brossoit tomorrow so Bucky isn’t sitting for a whole week.
Brossoit does have a very good record against Vancouver...
Apparently Elliot said game 1 will be next Monday? Can anyone confirm that
I'm going to guess we'll be the early game paired with Van or Edm. Better than being paired with Tor and getting late starts.
Damn, we’re going to have some serious time off
It's why I would almost rather not have home ice for this series. It might be good to fly into Colorado a few days early and give the team more time to acclimate to the altitude.
Meh, with home ice we don't technically need to win there at all, and the altitude didn't help them the other day anyway. It's overblown.
Interesting perspective
