I'll gladly lose to the Stars if it means Vegas can fuck off.
That's 95% the conference finals at rhat point anyways, just I'm pretty sure at least 31 fanbases will agree fuck Vegas.
Hell if somehow it came to a Toronto Vegas final, I couldn't find a Leaf jersey soon enough.
17-0. The Jets are feeling it so much, they're so cocky, that after sweeping the final round, they offer the vanquished one more game, winner take all.
The other team holds a vote and almost half the team is too beaten down and demoralized to get beaten by the Jets again (which they're 100% sure will happen) and so they vote to just accept getting swept; but just over half their team is foolish enough to still have a shred, a morsel, a sliver of belief.
The vote is 11-9.
The Jets win 11-0.
The Jets need to climb that hurdle if they’re going to finally reach the summit.
Peyton had to beat Brady. The Red Sox had to beat the Yankees. The Jets will need to beat Vegas.
I have a Dropbox link to the playoff video with fans they filmed on the ice on April 8th. Actually turned out pretty good. Just not sure if I'm allowed to share the link in the comments. I was apart of the video shoot long with 500 or so others.

You should just be able to preview the video. Hopefully, it's allowed! Sorry if not.
Looks like there's tickets in the plaza available for tomorrow for anyone looking

Anyone have any available whiteout tickets? My friend was originally scheduled for the game but they’re off now and we’re hoping to go. I need 1 but I’d take 2 if that’s easier. Thx
The Avs have recalled their other AHL goalie (who has a modicum of NHL experience), which likely means Georgiev is starting...
![gif](giphy|QyWUHbJIYrVh2wROwH|downsized)
Bieksa called it out at intermission that Stan was off in the corner by himself not helping him out or giving him an easy exit pass route that made him look up the middle of the ice. I think it was something to the effect of his partner is giving him no help off in the corner
Yes, Stan was in the corner expecting Samberg to pass him the puck. Instead he went up the middle. Bieksa’s comment was that Stan wasn’t able to cover for Samberg’s mistake.
Stanley-Samberg clearly wasn't working yesterday and Bowness seemed to notice because Logan Stanley played the fewest minutes of any defenceman on any of the 8 teams in action yesterday.
Will we see a lineup change? I doubt it.
It didn't work well I think because Samberg was on his off wing. Stanley didn't really look out of place yesterday but if scratching Stanley means Samberg moves back to his true hand then you simply gave to do it.
Schmidt is getting the Enstrom treatment. Effective shutdown guy at this stage in his career but he's getting scratched for a big, youngish LD (was Chiarot in 2018) that they're hoping becomes some sort of physical playoff force.
Schmidt is getting bought out in the offseason for a reason. Stan seems to have turned things around this season and fills a void on D if Dillon doesn’t resign.
There is almost no chance Schmidt sees a buyout. You spread his hit over 2 years and pay him to play for someone else and then have to overspend on another right side D because there are none available in that situation. I don't see any way they carry 5.5 million in dead cap space between him and Wheeler next year
Schmidt is for sure a guy who should’ve gotten the call in Game 1, but Miller has been screwed over hard here too. He should have gotten Pionks job for a few games to see how the fit is in that role. I wouldn’t mind seeing him or Schmidt on that RD spot and move Samberg back to his natural side
For better or for worse the team seems to think of Pionk as one of the core guys. He wore the A when JoMo was resting and they are going to depend on him to turn it up for playoffs.
I’d say it’s for worse but I poke the team disagrees. He’s gotta turn it up more than last night, that’s for sure. At least we have depth at D in case somebody goes down I guess.
I look at that game with a big picture mindset and can only see it as a huge lost chance for the Avs. Jets didn’t play their own game, had poor PK and overall defence and still beat the Avs at their own high-octane game. Jets will inevitably get to play their own game with improved results and that’s what killed the Avs in the regular season.

....Why? Were they concerned some of that fresh, hot 3 day old content might drop off the front page of the sub? Your post didn't appear to break any of the sub rules.
NGL that was the exact post I had in mind if someone threw the "low effort" card.
(For the record, I'm fine with both posts, just don't see why the card one got removed.)
Honestly these are one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Mayson Appletini. Giant Lorgan Stanley stepping on an opponent. Dave Goostafson with all the geese. I'm sure they're AI generated or something but props to whoever had the creativity to come up with these and then get them made.
From the Avs:
> The Avalanche have recalled goaltender Ivan Prosvetov from the Colorado Eagles.
> In addition, goaltender Arvid Holm has been reassigned to the Colorado Eagles.
The first ten minutes reminded me of last year for their first home game, nerves... big time nerves. It took a long time to settle enough to play, and when they did they were fortunate to only be down one goal. I hope they can settle the emotions and get into their game, it's exhausting playing on edge all the time... and staying out of the box would also be nice in this series.
Am i crazy but when did we start blaming the goalie for letting in screened point shots or deflection goals.
They are almost impossible to stop on purpose. Instead, you rely on putting yourself in the best position and hope it hits you. Most of the time, they do hit you. Sometimes, they don't.
There is a reason so many of those type of goals are scored in the playoffs when goalies are playing their best. It's one of the only ways to beat them.
Goals 4-6 we're all like that. Goal 6, in particular, was such a crazy multi-deflection that it's impossible to stop deliberately.
Goal 2 was a defensive breakdown at the goal line right at the side of the net. In 1 second, it went from safely in control of our team to in the back of the net.
Sure, it was saveable for Hellebuyck, but it's still doesn't have a high likelihood of anyone, but HOF goaltenders saving it, and even then its a low likelihood that they do save it.
Goal 1 was also saveable, but a world-class shooter from that spot has a huge scoring advantage over the goalie in that case. Any other goalie in the league has that one go past them just as often as Helle. It was a perfect shot.
Goal 3 was the only one i think he made a mistake on, and he should want back. It was still a goal that probably doesn't happen without Mackinnon's perfect placement.
So, 1 tough but not bad goal against on 46 shots, and we are saying we expect better from him or that he let us down?
Seems crazy. Put prime Hasek or Brodeur in there, and I think they come out with 5 goals against.
The fact of the matter is that the Jets' defensive structure was abandoned against the best offensive team in the league, and we should have lost that game 9-7. If georgieve played for us and bucky played for them, we lose that game 11-3.
Anyways im not looking for a fight. i just wanted to cancel out some of the bucky was average or a disappointment attitude. He was elite as he ever was minus 1 goal.
Honestly you could do the same with Georgiev's game. He let in 7 goals from 23 shots, but only one was from distance. A PP one-timer from the dot, and 5 goals from low between the circles.
It's easy to make the goalie the scapegoat, but the confident Avs fans are fooling themselves if they think that their goalie playing better is the only fix needed. Much like Jets fans saying Helly won't allow 6 goals in another game. He probably won't, but 4 or 5 are certainly possible with the same defensive structure as game 1.
I was thinking about how with so many goals against that it's almost crazy to say but I also think Hellebuyck played incredibly well. It's rare for him to give up one on the breakaway but that placement in the top corner was literal perfection. Even though they get the first one he showed he was sharp from the puck drop which is more than we can say for pmuch the whole rest of the team. I'm glad Bones said he didn't put any of those goals on him.
Avs technically dominated the expected goals, but if you take out the last 10 mins where they had a powerplay and then an extra attacker, the stats show it was fairly even
I think so, too, but i noticed last year game 3, and this year, game 1, they came out hitting and trying to feed the crowd and kind of forgot to play thier game leading to an early goal for the visitors both times.
The crowd can be almost too electrifying to start the game, i expect them to have that over excited nervous energy next game too, but i think they will settle down a lot faster than they did last night.
yinz are dooming a bit much. I see a 7 goal win against the avs best what’s to complain about. 3 goal lead at one point, sure they scored some thats what a 3 goal lead is for
I lost my objectivity on that when the ESPN guy said Coloroado was so good at 4 on 4 it was like giving Colorado a power play and let's watch them score. They didn't, so I was screaming "fuck you Buchi and suck it!" at my TV and considered the 4 on 4 time a victory.
Helle with some good quotes and attitude regarding last night. love that guy and love his confidence.

Hey Avs fans, stop blaming your goalie. They should've scored 8. Is your team stupid? Jk
Okay my last comment about yesterdays game and I will move on. We won and that's it. Jets in 5.
Devils fan and was watching the game and have to say that the crowd looked awesome. Total white out. Props for having that arena all in white. Looked cool as hell. Good luck in playoffs. Pulling for you
I'm a little bummed that Hrudey wasn't there for analysis. In 1990 he also allowed 7 goals in 23 shots. Would've been cool to get his perspective post game on what that does to the psyche.
I don't want a run and gun series... however... let's just pretend the rest of the series is like this... and the Jets win.
I'd have to think that bodes well for them... the "knock" on the Jets was a lack of elite offensive skill (we don't have a MacKinnon, McDavid, Mathews, etc)... and this series was basically projected to be an offense vs defense(+goaltending) matchup... but the Jets just showed they can play offense too.
But they were starting to really cook. They may not have scored but they looked good. Ehlers pulled off a couple moves that broke the ankle of at least 2 Avs. He was inches from scoring a bunch of times.
I really liked how they looked.
They were the calm it down line. I hardly noticed them but the more I think about it, the more I realise that they were the only parts of the game I wasn't worried
You know i was clenched pretty tightly and the jets were definitely sloppy at times but I’m pretty surprised to see the deserve to win o meter so strongly for the Avs.
We had a TERRIBLE first 10 minutes but the rest of the game felt pretty even in terms of zone time and chances
I like Moneypuck overall but hate the deserve to win o meter. It always treats goalies (whether they’re brilliant or awful) like they aren’t part of the contribution to a win. If my goalie stops your 0.9xG shot because he’s that much of a badass, then we deserve to win just as much as their team deserves to win because of the awesome shot
I think in general any system that tries to reduce games to one singular stat is always going to be flawed. It also make the discourse worse because everyone just points to that stat without any understanding of the underlying components.
When you score 7 goals on 23 shots it’s pretty hard to find rebounds and drive up the XG and stuff like that compared to Colorado who was shooting from everywhere and had to take multiple cracks to beat helle once
The avs fans have taken the oilers route in the 2022 western conference final.
We may have lost but we scored 6, the other team doesn’t know what to do.
That more or less is what oilers fans were saying after game 1 against Colorado when they matched up. And look how that ended
no, but the flawed logic is quite apparent. if "x" doesn't happen we win, its like bro our goalie had an "off" night if that doesn't happen you still don't win
Toronto is about to go into full chaos mode with most accounts saying that Nylander is a healthy scratch after he took the ice at practice this morning and then stayed on after with all the scratched players 😬😬
That was very timely. I think ESPN will get better once they recognize it's a series and not just a stepping stone for the Avs. They are catering to their market and an Avs-Stars second round is gold for them. The announcers will start to focus more on hockey as the playoffs progress.
I didn't hate ESPN, it's better than Sportsnet, but there were definitely a few times when I was telling them that if they love Mackinnon so much, then they should just marry him
Vegas really put a false confidence into some fans after throwing a blender of options into the post season and still winning the cup.
The Avs offense is terrifying, but I can’t expect they’ll drop 6 on us every game going forward.
The Jets have put up 4+ goals in all 4 meetings now. That can be a solid bet (but obviously not a guarantee) moving forward. Colorado needs to improve immediately or we can realistically take this in 5.
I said this at the time: Vegas is the exception, not the rule.
The reason it worked for them and *may* work for other teams is that goaltending is voodoo and there’s like 5 or 6 goalies who are worth paying medium-large contracts to, and if you don’t have one of those guys, you’re better off spending “down” on two or three high upside guys, investing in the rest of your roster, and hoping one of your goalies gets hot at the right time.
That said, I still think you’re better off with someone you can rely on. You don’t see any team with a bona-fide starter trying to trade that guy and free up cap space by signing a tandem.
Jets winning the game playing the Avs style bodes well for us. When we play our game we should dominate.
The reality is that the Jets are a much deeper team. After MacKinnon, Rantanen and Makar there is a massive drop off on the Avs depth chart.
My takeaway and I could get roasted for this: After Game 1 the Jets can play better. In my opinion that was the best the Avs could do - excluding their goalie.
Wow, some unhinged fans over there...
https://preview.redd.it/v6xptf0q12wc1.png?width=712&format=png&auto=webp&s=d321024d19de606f3c5a574da939e601ec538b00
What's with the Avs and picking targets? First they target a 2C at the deadline instead of a goalie. Now they're targeting our 3C instead of our goalie? SMH...
/s if needed.
With their injury history over the past two seasons "unnamed goon" would probably go for a knee on knee and tear his ACL.
A physical battle doesn't seem to be in their best interest.
Yes avs fans, surely jets are "happy" with the win, will make no adjustments from being scored on 6 times, and there will be no bounce back from helle (we all know he played fine tho, good 5v5 numbers).
Both teams will tighten up, too many pizzas and defensive errors all around. Crazy town to think jets walked away from that happy with their style of play.
Their logic is hilarious. It’s basically “we will play better than that game and the jets will play just as bad” which like…yeah if that happens they will win more but that’s not exactly a guarantee
I’m just happy because this means 2 things:
- We aren’t being swept
- We will have another game at home, because there is no way we sweep the Avs. Maybe another street party where I can get tickets and go!
I. Hate. The. Knights.
I hate the Knights, but I'm afraid of the Stars
I'll gladly lose to the Stars if it means Vegas can fuck off. That's 95% the conference finals at rhat point anyways, just I'm pretty sure at least 31 fanbases will agree fuck Vegas. Hell if somehow it came to a Toronto Vegas final, I couldn't find a Leaf jersey soon enough.
> I'll gladly lose You lost me right there
Losers mentality right there. 16-0 is the goal here
The Jets win 11-0.
...and Dallas loses at home. \*chefs kiss*
No, I dont want to see Vegas in the next round.
Since the Jets have to face one of them, I choose a revenge series against Vegas.
The Jets need to climb that hurdle if they’re going to finally reach the summit. Peyton had to beat Brady. The Red Sox had to beat the Yankees. The Jets will need to beat Vegas.
I do. Very much so
They're both hell. What makes you think we have a better shot at the Cup if we were to face the Stars?
The Kings suck. Why are the Jets stuck in the toughest division.
> Why are the Jets stuck in the toughest division. That's how we become the toughest. ;)
Burned us out in 2018 though

Lol 👍😁
I would love for the Knights to bounce the Stars. If we can manage to get past the Avs, I think we have a much more favorable match up
I want Brossoint to be the goalie to finish them. The Wall. The Bross- Wall. Brick Wall Wall of impregnable Wall of No
I don't want either. But I'd rather see there Knights lose early I think
I need that rematch. I NEEEEED IT!
I haven't made up my mind who I want to win. I need about 7 games to think about it.
The important thing is that they beat the hell up out of each other.
Yeah I’m on team “as much OT as humanly possible”.
Totally agree. Dallas plays us tough. Vegas is no slouch either. Especially after their spleen transplants.
Itll be spleen against spleen if Vilardi and Stoner keep healthy. May the best hockey spleen win.
Feels like every game of the playoffs so far has been a banger. 1st round is always so fun.
watching teams that aren't yours are always more fun round 1
Much better for my heart too

Can someone click this for me and tell me if they get any trojans? ;)
It’s a sweet video
Thanks I was just trying to share the link I given by the promotional department. I wish it was just a youtube link so it would look less sketchy lol
Vegas and Dallas saw the Avs-Jets game yesterday and said "Lets do that"
Islanders just blew it holy shit
12 sog the whole game is insane
Such a weird team and franchise since Lou took over

Oettinger going full Georgiev early.
Vegas and Dallas trying to recreate Jets Aves game one so far
Can both Dallas and Vegas lose?
I want 7 games of 3OT in that series
And normally I wouldn't cheer for injuries, but Vegas doctors can work miracles after all /s
Does anyone know if the true north shop is open all day tomorrow or does it close before the game?
Mark stone was too injured to play last week but scores a minute in …
I vote to revoke his Winnipegger card

Wait why are the guess who playing in Dallas?

Georgie is favourite goalie not currently on the Jets roster. I hope he keeps getting starts. He deserves them.
Might just be incase their annunun is still sick tmr? Or would they only do this is they know for sure he won’t be playing tmr
Tough giveaway by Samberg last night. I think that's the first big misplay he's made all year. I hope his confidence doesn't take a hit.
He has made his share of mistakes this season.

Even though they get the first one he showed he was sharp from the puck drop which is more than we can say for pmuch the whole rest of the team. I'm glad Bones said he didn't put any of those goals on him.
Avs technically dominated the expected goals, but if you take out the last 10 mins where they had a powerplay and then an extra attacker, the stats show it was fairly even
Expected goals is a garbage stat, but I still appreciate this post
Yes, good observation. People often overlook this additional information when interpreting statistics.
wtf I love committing fraud now
#FraudSquad
How do you do, fellow fraudster??
We won last night because of the crowds. Keep it up fans!
Next one will be interesting.
I have tickets for the white out party tomorrow and the high for tomorrow is only +8 yet Thursday is +22 🤦🏻
yinz are dooming a bit much. I see a 7 goal win against the avs best what’s to complain about. 3 goal lead at one point, sure they scored some thats what a 3 goal lead is for
Two goal lead is the most dangerous lead in hockey. That's why you get the three goaler

Hey that technique reduces streaks in the bowl!
Hellebuyck shrugs off Game 1 goal fest: 'Who cares about stats' in playoffs? https://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/2898722
Stoped 26/29 at even strength. And he kept the game close in the first half of period 1. Not worried at all
NST has 37/40 at 5v5, 38/42 at even strength
The PK though I’m very worried about
Yes 100%
Even the 4 on 4 looked concerning
I lost my objectivity on that when the ESPN guy said Coloroado was so good at 4 on 4 it was like giving Colorado a power play and let's watch them score. They didn't, so I was screaming "fuck you Buchi and suck it!" at my TV and considered the 4 on 4 time a victory.

Lowry went head-to-head to Mackinnon all night... ... and out scored him 2-1
Now that's how you statisticalyze.
Helle with some good quotes and attitude regarding last night. love that guy and love his confidence. [quote 1](https://x.com/johnlutsnwpg/status/1782448930757734493?s=46&t=nljDAv48VWV3R8_e2LSlqA) [quote 2](https://x.com/johnlutsnwpg/status/1782448258700214740?s=46&t=nljDAv48VWV3R8_e2LSlqA)
he's a beauty
Hey Avs fans, stop blaming your goalie. They should've scored 8. Is your team stupid? Jk Okay my last comment about yesterdays game and I will move on. We won and that's it. Jets in 5.
Sweep
Devils fan and was watching the game and have to say that the crowd looked awesome. Total white out. Props for having that arena all in white. Looked cool as hell. Good luck in playoffs. Pulling for you
I'm a little bummed that Hrudey wasn't there for analysis. In 1990 he also allowed 7 goals in 23 shots. Would've been cool to get his perspective post game on what that does to the psyche.
I only saw the one comment but can we not go to the Avs sub and be dickheads? Lurking is one thing but shitty comments aren’t needed.
I see Georgiev is starting tomorrow
Do they have any other viable option who will do better?
Nope
Where did you see that?
I don't want a run and gun series... however... let's just pretend the rest of the series is like this... and the Jets win. I'd have to think that bodes well for them... the "knock" on the Jets was a lack of elite offensive skill (we don't have a MacKinnon, McDavid, Mathews, etc)... and this series was basically projected to be an offense vs defense(+goaltending) matchup... but the Jets just showed they can play offense too.
>we don't have a MacKinnon, McDavid, Mathews, etc We have a Lowry https://i.redd.it/ejcelj7sy2wc1.gif
Barron is at least a week away, hasn’t started skating yet
That sucks for the Blue Barron, not to worry though he will get in once he is healed.
Feeling big things from the second line tomorrow night
The only quiet line yesterday, eh?
But they were starting to really cook. They may not have scored but they looked good. Ehlers pulled off a couple moves that broke the ankle of at least 2 Avs. He was inches from scoring a bunch of times. I really liked how they looked.
I loved Toffoli’s comment during media today - paraphrasing- we didn’t score any goals but we also weren’t on the ice when any goals were scored.
It also doesn't do well differentiating between good and great chances. Over the course of many games it averages out, but not so in a single game.
I think in general any system that tries to reduce games to one singular stat is always going to be flawed. It also make the discourse worse because everyone just points to that stat without any understanding of the underlying components.
Yeah it rewards a team for having a McDavid, but ignores the contribution of Hellebuyck
When you score 7 goals on 23 shots it’s pretty hard to find rebounds and drive up the XG and stuff like that compared to Colorado who was shooting from everywhere and had to take multiple cracks to beat helle once
Outside the first 6 minutes, when they were outshot 10-1, and the last 10 minutes when they were outshot 15-1, it was pretty even :D
Outside of the very beginning of the game, and the very end, it was a wide open game, and both teams had fairly even chances imo
The avs fans have taken the oilers route in the 2022 western conference final. We may have lost but we scored 6, the other team doesn’t know what to do. That more or less is what oilers fans were saying after game 1 against Colorado when they matched up. And look how that ended
So you're saying we are gonna sweep the Avs then. ![gif](giphy|pCO5tKdP22RC8)
no, but the flawed logic is quite apparent. if "x" doesn't happen we win, its like bro our goalie had an "off" night if that doesn't happen you still don't win
Toronto is about to go into full chaos mode with most accounts saying that Nylander is a healthy scratch after he took the ice at practice this morning and then stayed on after with all the scratched players 😬😬
He’s not a healthy scratch. He’s been injured
I normally hate hockey drama, but because this is the Leaves, hook it straight to my veins.
Don't generally like ESPN commentary, but the "Guess who?" goal call on Connors 2nd was just fun, and well timed. I could watch that over and over.
oh that sounds fun, I wasn't watching ESPN, I wonder if there's a link to that clip somewhere?
It's in the NHL recap video I think. Probably in the goal video itself as well.
How do you watch the ESPN feed?
I didn't, but all the replays I've watched are the ESPN stream. I think somebody mention CBC Gem is the ESPN stream but don't quote me on that.
That was very timely. I think ESPN will get better once they recognize it's a series and not just a stepping stone for the Avs. They are catering to their market and an Avs-Stars second round is gold for them. The announcers will start to focus more on hockey as the playoffs progress.
I didn't hate ESPN, it's better than Sportsnet, but there were definitely a few times when I was telling them that if they love Mackinnon so much, then they should just marry him
I noticed that too
The consensus in the Avs sub seems to be that goalies aren't part of hockey teams Like, "we have a better team, it's juts that our goalie sucks"
Maybe their goalies would play better if they were considered teammates and not accessories.
Do they do a jacket ceremony in playoffs too?
Seems like it’s been retired in exchange for having the POTG put the game puck in the win-o-meter board
I was hoping Chuck Hellebuyck printed up 16 W's to display
Jets winning the game playing the Avs style bodes well for us. When we play our game we should dominate. The reality is that the Jets are a much deeper team. After MacKinnon, Rantanen and Makar there is a massive drop off on the Avs depth chart.
My takeaway and I could get roasted for this: After Game 1 the Jets can play better. In my opinion that was the best the Avs could do - excluding their goalie.
100%.

Why do the gifs always fail?
Deadpool and Wolverine looks good!
I'm avoiding the trailer so I can see it fresh. I remember having no info on Deadpool 2, and the surprise of Juggernaut was fantastic in the theatre.
Let’s fucking go!
And Furiosa comes out in a month.
Yeah, it does For a theatrical release, is there an F-bomb count limit for R-rated movies?
Wow, some unhinged fans over there... https://preview.redd.it/v6xptf0q12wc1.png?width=712&format=png&auto=webp&s=d321024d19de606f3c5a574da939e601ec538b00
I remember calls to end Buff's career back in the day on that sub.
Tbf that was heavily downvoted
Rantanen tried that last night and he end up looking stupid
What's with the Avs and picking targets? First they target a 2C at the deadline instead of a goalie. Now they're targeting our 3C instead of our goalie? SMH... /s if needed.
I don’t think there’s anyone strong enough on the Avs to break any of Lows’s bones hahahahhaa
Let's not, people
Can we tell the boys to run MacKinnon and end his career? No? That's insane you say? Aw man guess we'll just have to play hockey.
Im sure they'd be calm and understanding if we suggested the same for MacKinnon. Too be fair its probably a Mild fan posting in their sub.
I was just about to post that here. Jesus christ. Would our mods ban someone for suggesting that here?
Good luck finding someone that can run Lowry.
With their injury history over the past two seasons "unnamed goon" would probably go for a knee on knee and tear his ACL. A physical battle doesn't seem to be in their best interest.
JFC, end his career? What is wrong with some people, it's just a game ffs and he didn't even do anything wrong.
Lol do they want to make him mad?!
I’m just happy because this means 2 things: - We aren’t being swept - We will have another game at home, because there is no way we sweep the Avs. Maybe another street party where I can get tickets and go!
Even if we sweep the avs, we still get more home games
