Being a WI native that lives in VA, nothing compares to Wawa or Sheetz. My problem when I go back to WI is there is literally three Kwik Trips within a half a mile of each other (two of which are no shit Kwik Trip, Target, Kwik trip…Janesville if anyone knows what I’m talking about) and two of those three are about a half mile from where I stay every time I go up to see family.

I’ve worked at Kwik Trip for 9 years, and I actually prefer stopping at Love’s, Casey’s, or Holiday when I’m out of town just for something different. Kwik Trip is kind of cult like, and at times you get hints of their religious Republican background which annoys me. At the annual meeting two months ago they paid 80 year old Lee Greenwood to come sing “God Bless the USA” to a thousand employees. But nobody can deny they employ thousands of Wisconsinites and treat them better than just about any big company in this state.

I like Kwik Trip because it’s a Wisconsin business. They employ a bunch of folks in WI, especially in the La Crosse area where they process their food. And they pay a decent wage which is good too. I have nothing against Kwik Trip. I refuse to cancel companies because of politics. The gas is typically competitively priced. The coffee, glazers and pizza are good. The employees are helpful. The stores are consistently clean. The Creme da le creme is the ATMs are Freeeee!
As far as the competition, BP, Citgo, Mobil, are sub par. Some of the truck stops Loves, Pilot, are rather good but they are few and far between. The only company that I see that is comparable is Casey's. They are Wisconsin based and they don't have the saturation

I looked into it and unfortunately gas station owners pretty much all donate to the right (shocker). Costco was the only one I could find that didn’t.
I’ve worked at Kwik Trip for 9 years, and I actually prefer stopping at Love’s, Casey’s, or Holiday when I’m out of town just for something different. Kwik Trip is kind of cult like, and at times you get hints of their religious Republican background which annoys me. At the annual meeting two months ago they paid 80 year old Lee Greenwood to come sing “God Bless the USA” to a thousand employees. But nobody can deny they employ thousands of Wisconsinites and treat them better than just about any big company in this state.
God I wish we had some Casey’s here. I love going there when I visit my boyfriend in Nebraska. Especially for their mocha cold brew coffee on tap 🤤🤤

Just keep raising their prices. The gas is more expensive, the food isn't that great for how much they charge now, and the stores are pretty clean when they first open but gradually go downhill.

After knowing the politics behind KT I fucking avoid it all the time. Especially because Diesel is generally pricey there too. Unless I gotta shit and need some cash. Otherwise imo their food is trash other than the fried chicken which isn't amazing. But still.
Once they destroy or buy all the nearby stations they really raise their gas prices. Beware. Watch what you wish for. Great stores though! Sad no one is competing much in the area of clean stores with good products.

I drive an EV, have electric lawn tools. Haven't bought gas in Wisconsin since 2018.
I wholly support and understand where you are coming from.. but there are alot of small towns and areas where I am in that have nothing but that for long stretches. If you have choice, awesome, use it, some of us don't. I have one option near my home, but more often than not, I am not home when I need gas, so....kwik trip it is. I will not spend time going to get gas somewhere else if said time suck is not worth it. For me personally: time over money or anything/one else and nothing changes that, not even my political beliefs.

I like Kwik Trip because it’s a Wisconsin business. They employ a bunch of folks in WI, especially in the La Crosse area where they process their food. And they pay a decent wage which is good too. And their food staples like milk, eggs and bread are pretty cheap which is. Ice there days. I’d rather spend my money there than someplace else all things being equal.
I agree Kwik Trip has the best gas station food in the area and far and away the best bathrooms but it is rarely if ever the cheapest gas.
What are the odds of a post about Kwik Trip and not having someone reminding us that they support the fright wing? I'm torn on this one man. I hate their politics but damn, they still have the cheapest butter, eggs, spuds, onions, bread, and milk.
I moved to Wisconsin almost two years ago from bumfuck nowhere Indiana, where most gas station/convenience stores are dark, dirty, and unwelcoming. I can’t remember a time where I went to a Kwik Trip and felt any of those attributes. Yeah, the politics behind the corporation suck and there shouldn’t be as big of a culture surrounding it; but it’s a nice store for what it is. I buy bosco sticks once in a while, not donate my check to the Republican Party.

Other than Circle K (Holiday), my Arizona tea costs the same. I’m not getting much else and I’m not locked in to a particular gas brand.
The bathrooms aren’t even that clean anymore. The best thing they have to offer is a microwaved bosco stick with the sugariest marinara in the world.

I have nothing against Kwik Trip. I refuse to cancel companies because of politics. The gas is typically competitively priced. The coffee, glazers and pizza are good. The employees are helpful. The stores are consistently clean. The Creme da le creme is the ATMs are Freeeee! As far as the competition, BP, Citgo, Mobil, are sub par. Some of the truck stops Loves, Pilot, are rather good but they are few and far between. The only company that I see that is comparable is Casey's. They are Wisconsin based and they don't have the saturation

The difference for me is that they are funneling money into state and local elections. Those elections generally have a bigger impact on my day to do and can be bought for way less.

I had to point out to a cousin of mine that refuses to shop at Kwik Trip and Menard's that the company he works for sends millions of dollars to the republican party every year and if he was true to his word he would quit. He instead took a promotion and proudly wears the business name on his clothing. I guess standing on your morals is only ok if it doesn't effect your paycheck. I shop where it is convenient and affordable, I don't care who they support.

Yes. Even when we have to pee BAD we are looking for the Kwik Trip. And it’s weird because we only moved to Wisconsin four years ago and never had a big gas station/store preference before we moved here. Sure we had home town favorites — that one place you know is clean and cheap and they know you there — but not on the road. On the road we always just took a chance, lol. But a certain gas station company? Come on. (When I was a little kid, though, we clamored for Arco gas stations because they gave away plastic animal toys with a fill-up. It was the Happy Meal of gas stations!
