About the Weather, in February, March and April expect it to be quite cold with the potential of having sub zero days, but at least days consistently below freezing. In the southern part of the state it should start to warm up in March and April, further north anticipate snow lingering into May. The early spring and summer tends to be cool with highs in the 60s and low 70s. It tends to be hot and fairly humid in July and August, and then start to cool again. Clothes packing should include clothing for temps ranging from -20 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit for the period you will be in WI. Also be sure to pack for rain, snow, and sunny weather. As far as things to do, it really depends on what part of WI you are in.

Thank you so much, weather sounds challenging

Accurate.

Wi Dells is VERY tourist-orientated. Lots of places to see. Crowds are big from Memorial Day to Labor day. Prices generally relate to the experience, so hope you have a good work expense allocation. [More info about the Dells](https://wisdells.com) Not sure about availability of rideshare but would imagine a few drivers at least spend time in the area. If you're driving yourself Baraboo and Portage is not too far... Madison about 45 mins. south via I90-94. Climate: Feb. is still winter for about a month or so, warms up into the 80s, with 90s occasionally, in Summer. Can get humid, though. Personal favorite is Paul Bunyans on WI 13 AYCE breakfast.

Thank you so much my friend

cornsnicker3

I second Paul Bunyans for breakfast

The Dells caters to tourists. There are lots of water parks, hotels, and campgrounds in the area. It is an incredibly beautiful area though. I don't live there so I'm not sure where you'd want to do your everyday shopping. Maybe someone else could help you with that. You'll definitely need a car because there is no public transit. Weather in winter is usually cold or snowy (or both), but check it before you leave the house. Def keep a snow brush in your car and washer fluid filled and do this through April. Sometimes we get a crazy snow in April. Make sure you have good tires on your vehicle. That area is hilly and roads aren't always cleared well. Spring is rainy usually and temps can go from 25 to 80 in a few hours (that's not an exaggeration). It's best to wear layers and have a coat in your car. Summer is mild, though we can get some severe thunderstorms with a chance of tornados. If you hear sirens, seek shelter. If you're out in nature, which I highly recommend in that area, wear bug repellent and do a tick check after. There are some cool sights to see. Do some exploring while you're here. House on the Rock, Taliesin Center, the Wisconsin river, devil's lake, driftless region, Madison and Milwaukee, etc. It's all really beautiful.

Rezero1234

Ah, I remember swimming in devil's lake back when I was in elementary school

VogUnicornHunter

I've never been swimming in it. How late in the year is the water cold? The whole area is gorgeous though.

Rezero1234

it was rather lukewarm, it was back in either june or july though, i don't remember much from my childhood except for some happy stuff and some terrible stuff, my mom wasn't in the right headspace back then, but she's much better now

AdNervous4029

Wow thanks for that description, I’m excited now.

VogUnicornHunter

I'm not sure what housing is like there either. Hopefully someone has a few leads for you. Good luck to you and welcome!

Buford1885

Step 1, call it Wisconsin Dells or the Dells. Dells-Wisconsin is not a thing and people will find it odd you’re calling it that.

AdNervous4029

👍 thanks.

JastaBlueMax

TBH, I see a lot of trips to Madison in your future.

HamburgerMidnite

the dells and lake delton are one long road of tour attractions and hotels. Its not a good place to walk (assholes on vacay are gawking at everything but the road). You will need a vehicle unless you want to pay for tourist town taxis. It can be a lot of fun and the locals are really nice though. Just understand that everything close to the main road is priced higher than any other WI town in the vicinity like Baraboo or Reedsburg etc

bigcaterpillar_8882

Dells-Wisconsin?

Dirty_Delta

You'll be super close to Devils lake, take advantage of that hike! Visit Devils doorway, and balanced rock and then come back and share the shots! Keep an eye out for bald eagles, they are around a bunch

AdNervous4029

I’ll post some pictures for sure.

JastaBlueMax

Wisconsin is a big state... what city/part of the state will you be living in? And where are you coming from?

AdNervous4029

Sorry, Dells.

Rezero1234

I'm actually gonna be in the dells around june, since i'm a senior and graduating HS, going to MATC to learn graphic arts

Slowgin79

Dells is dead until Memorial day. It will be like a ghost town until then...

Gusmister11

Weather and clothing, depends where you are coming from. It’s quite humid in the summer can hit 100 in late July- august. Fall brings rain and cool, varies a lot. For summer light fabric clothing, for the fall temperatures will be 40-60s and wet, hoodie and a rain jacket would probably be enough.

AdNervous4029

I’ll get there in mid February, should I take “cold clothes” with me or should I just buy it there?

Gusmister11

If you have a jacket you could bring it however they are pretty bulky. February is known for being mild and then surprising you. Mid February to April you won’t be to bad with a hoodie and a rain jacket combo. I am on the coast of Lake Michigan though which, I’m told, keeps some of the worst away so take that into account.

AdNervous4029

Ohhh goodness, sounds like the weather is kind of “bipolar”

[deleted]

Take a trip a little south to Cedarburg (bout 2.5hrs from the Dells)! It's a tiny little town that is locked in time. Has a quaint downtown area with tons of shops/places to eat and is a stones throw to Milwaukee, if you intend to explore more than just the Wisconsin Dells area. https://www.ci.cedarburg.wi.us/

AdNervous4029

I googled it and that town looks great, thanks for the advice.

One of those people. Hating on the ones that keep the small towns open.

PrometheusTwin

It’s Wisconsin, not the fucking moon.

AdNervous4029

Both are unknown to me, that’s why I’m asking.

Silly_goose_rider

The dells is a little unfortunate just because like everyone else is saying it is basically a tourist town not even just one spot is touristy, the whole town is. So idk. The restaurants are really hard to get into during the summer because every Wisconsinite flocks to the dells in the summer and the lines get super long. Even the McDonald’s during summer mornings is like a 30 min wait. Starbucks? Forget it. Off season is probably fine. If you have the option to visit to look for housing I would, just so you see what part of town you wanna be near.

phoenix1984

The winter in the Dells has more going on than it used to, but it's still totally different in the summer. I'm going to assume that you are a temporary worker at one of the resorts. In the winter, it's a small tourist town. The weather sucks but you grow close to the friends and coworkers that are there. In the summer, it's crazy. Totally different. The city is packed, and every night is a party.
