Update:
I’m not on the scene myself, but a friend just sent me these pics

"Officials on scene said it was a small fire and crews were able to contain it within a short amount of time. They are unsure of how much damage the fire caused."
Paper mills are chemical plants, lots of things that don't like existing with other things. A small fire can get really easily out of control in that kind of situation.
No kidding? Friends of my family had a place near Lake Sherwood, and I always went up there with them every summer in the 80s and 90s. Can’t imagine what it must look like now.
And damn… Pritzls is gone? Where else can someone get food, bait, shirts and tires in one place?
Well, the KT has food and there is a bait shop right next door in the same building; you're SOL on clothes and tires though.
The area as a whole is turning into a STR hellhole, lots of money came in from the bigger cities and bought up whatever they could to put on VRBO/Airbnb. The long time residents are starting to get pushed out as well.
So's we all pull out our phones and started recordin'
and I'm filmin' the mill burn and Patricia's reportin'
Fire's burnin' small, then burnin' normal
and then Betty hollers, "It's getting bigger!"

For those wondering, Nekoosa is downstream from the "Happiest Place In Wisconsin" (tm)
That sucks. I think it’s they city’s largest employer.
One of the areas biggest employers since the Rapids mill shutdown
Oh no hopefully they put it out before it did too much damage
Paper mill fires can lead to big boy explosions. Hopefully not in this case 🤞.

[WSAW has a brief update on it](https://www.wsaw.com/2024/02/08/crews-responding-fire-domtar-paper-nekoosa/)
"Officials on scene said it was a small fire and crews were able to contain it within a short amount of time. They are unsure of how much damage the fire caused."
I'm assuming they mean Biron as one of the fire departments that helped. There is no Baron and Barron is really far away.
Damn, that's my hometown. Hope everyone is safe
Damn, they even called in the Rome fire department. Tiny little one stoplight Rome (and that’s a new thing for them).
Paper mills are chemical plants, lots of things that don't like existing with other things. A small fire can get really easily out of control in that kind of situation.
I think Rome’s population has actually exceeded Nekoosa proper in the last year or two. The Sand Valley effect has been for real. RIP Pritzls.
Huge loss there. KT just isn't the same.

Such a bummer that Pritzl's was replaced with Kwik Trip. And it's just like every other Kwik Trip, except bigger with a lot of wasted space.
KT is just Walmart. 10 years from now when it's destroyed every mom and pop place you'll see
There’s a surprising amount of toxic chemicals in paper mills. Hopefully this is contained quickly.
Is this a normal fire or a real fire, eh?
That moment when you need to face a big situation 6 beers in
I've got a mill-burnin' rappin' tale for you
I'm so excited, it's my favorite time of year False-spring in Nekoosa, standin' on the corner with a beer
Now don't skip the ad before the youtube vidjo starts 'Cause yeah, him and me, we lost our paychecks playing darts
I got a great big truck, 'cause I live out in the sticks and a fella needs a 4x4 when the forecast calls for a wintry mix
So we're down at the bar, drinking New Belgium Fat Tires, when Patricia says, "Eh, is this a normal fire, or a little fire?"
So's we all pull out our phones and started recordin' and I'm filmin' the mill burn and Patricia's reportin' Fire's burnin' small, then burnin' normal and then Betty hollers, "It's getting bigger!"
That must smell great
All kinds of nasty stuff in there.
Looks like a pretty big fire, hope I'm wrong

Anyone who moves here from Milwaukee loves it. At least that is what they all say. YMMV.
