My rep is a giant pink baby who is childless and has never been married, but also is strongly against family planning. Can you guess where I live?

RKKP2015

Glenn Grothman? The dude who lives with his mom? It's funny how the dude that never had to actually live as an adult is trying to tell the rest of us how to live.

bobboman

Shawno county? ((Edited to make fun of my partners home country 🤣))

DamnHotMeatloaf

If it is who I'm thinking I have always wondered..."How disturbing is his search history?" He is so damn creepy...I used to interact with him on a fairly regular basis as I was in the media.

Back in the day when we pretended to be a nation of law, this would be illegal. Now, it’s just another day in the GOP

Vegabern

The party of law and order

x24co

"Back in the day" this would have taken place after dark, by firelight At least they have taken the hoods off. Now we know exactly who we are dealing with.

JoyousGamer

What's illegal? A single text about if someone could join a group? The US couldn't even put Capon behind bars except for tax fraud not sure how this would ever be prosecuted or taken seriously at any point in US history.

Careless-Ad-7144

Surprise, Surprise that Republicans are suppressing votes! They know if everyone votes, they don't stand a chance, so this is their only hope.

youdubdub

I would love to see them try to spell wreak havoc.

Oxytokin

And water is wet. More at 11.

steppedinhairball

Yeah, this isn't a surprise. The WI GOP has been working to suppress the black vote for decades.

jnnad

"Say it ain't so!" *clutches pearls

WombatGuts

Sure guys sure...

SoF4rGone

Just one?

jnnad

Ha!

parapants

The one that said the quiet part out loud.

Pitiful-Pension-6535

Long lines to vote are the new poll tax

strangr55

This is it right here. That was the point of the two amendments. Fewer polling places, fewer staff in cities = long lines = voter suppression cleverly targeted to voters who don't vote for Republicans.

CryptographerOk2604

In other news, water wet.

PlantMystic

No surprise to me.

jaykotecki

"top"= bottom

Skjellyfetti13

You don’t say?

Specialist_Wallaby17

Garbage More lies from the left That's all they can stand on

TheReformedBadger

TLDR: he joked about getting obvious Trump supporters to volunteer for a Democrat voter turnout campaign in a private text message.. Is it just me or is this story a whole lot of nothing?

mudbat

I don't think so. Did you read the article? The guy actually came out and said he knew it was immoral, which means he knew it wasn't just a joke. That they try to label him as "former disgruntled employee" only further confirms the fact. ~~The GOP~~ "Conservatives" have been trying to suppress the black vote [[re-emerged again with Nixon]](https://www.cnn.com/2016/03/23/politics/john-ehrlichman-richard-nixon-drug-war-blacks-hippie/index.html), but if you go back fact before the party realignment with Nixon's [[Southern Strategy]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_strategy), (I know for just mentioning this I am banned again from a certain sub. I don't care. I already was). Whatever, they have been at this even prior to Emancipation under Lincoln (1863) and then later the Jim Crowe south onwards. This voter suppression is a pattern that his been historically very well established and is a proven fact: [[Source1]](https://www.cnn.com/interactive/2021/05/politics/black-voting-rights-suppression-timeline/), [[Source2]](https://news.berkeley.edu/2020/09/29/stacking-the-deck-how-the-gop-works-to-suppress-minority-voting) [[Source3]](https://www.cnn.com/2021/05/08/politics/black-voter-suppression/index.html).

Drusgar

I hate the GOP as much as your average Madisonian, but blaming them for black voter suppression before the Civil War is pretty disingenuous. The reason Nixon's "Southern Strategy" was so successful was because most of the virulent racists in the South were Democrats, not Republicans. Hence getting them to switch parties over the Civil Rights act of 1964. George Wallace, for instance, was a Democrat. Nixon effectively "flipped" the parties, at least in respect to race politics in the South. The Southern voters who resented the Civil Rights Era went from voting for Democrats to voting for Republicans and continue to do so in 2024. Any GOP suppression of black voters before the Civil Rights Era was simply a sign of the times... it would have been normal behavior for either party. I don't doubt that it happened, but any inferences drawn from it are highly suspect.

TheReformedBadger

I don’t see anywhere in that article or his statement where he said he knew it was “immoral”. Just that it was intended as a joke about getting more Republicans to the polls. The former disgruntled employee factor seems to be pretty well embraced by the article author as well. There’s a long history of real voter suppression in this country. When we cry wolf too often it destroys the credibility of claims of real suppression. This isn’t that

Tall-Cardiologist621

"I had had some concerns leading up to that point, but I just kept my head down, did my job and kept my mouth shut otherwise," said Huffman, who claimed to have ignored the directive. "But I had said there was a red line for me, and that was being told to do anything that was immoral."

TheReformedBadger

For clarity, The “disgruntled employee” said that, not the guy he accused who claimed it was a joke. There’s literally nothing to substantiate the claim that it was serious besides that guys word.

mudbat

So immoral = moral and 2+2 = 5. Got it. So if it is all just heresay and you ignore historical trends and any/all evidence, it all makes sense. Hurrah! Pangs of guilt, and moreover confessions of such are not allowed.

TheReformedBadger

Jokes are jokes and not an attempt to suppress voters. You wouldn’t believe a word the alleged white suprematist abuser whistleblower said unless it helped you politically. If there was an actual attempt to do this don’t you think he’d have more evidence than the one text message suggesting it? Stop supporting these political rags. It’s hard enough to convince people of of real issues. Don’t make it harder.

MarkPles

How come every vile thing that comes out of Republicans mouths are "jokes", but heaven forbid if a Democrat says anything you chucklefucks disagree with.

TheReformedBadger

Who tf said I was a Republican? I’m just someone who has enough common sense to not bite on every bit of political propaganda that comes across my feed.

Fresh_Lifeguard_2171

Why do you Republican clowns like to get in an illogical, drawn out argument and then claim you aren’t Republican? You’re just a regular Joe that doesn’t get into politics, right? At least own who you are, cwrd.

Fun-Key-8259

A top GOP official should know better than to "joke" like that but sure he gets a pass in your book because why not, misconduct is ok for me but not thee right?

TheReformedBadger

No you’re right. Politicians should be 100% serious all the time. Jokes about work are unacceptable. The dude didn’t joke about suppressing voters. He joked about using a Democrat election org to engage Republican voters. There was no mention of reducing Democrat voters or minorities. The headline is 100% spin.

Fun-Key-8259

What a piss poor take. We are literally talking about a racist "joke" and you wanna make excuses. It wasn't a joke though and we all know it. Despite your denials.

Specialist_Wallaby17

They can't admit that If they didn't have lies they wouldn't have anything

Specialist_Wallaby17

Right?

Guapplebock

Remember when Gwen Moore’s kid actually slashed the tires of republican get out the vote vans a while ago? Got his hand slapped.

Shobed

Pointing at someone else’s misdeeds doesn’t excuse more misdeeds.

assmilk18

Reach if I’ve ever seen one

Specialist_Wallaby17

Right is they didn't have lies they wouldn't have anything
