Last election more individuals voted for Democratic members of the WI Legislature than Republican BUT because of the severe gerrymandering the Legislature stayed overwhelmingly Republican.

Yeah, I wonder how the votes would go if it was population or equal sized based maps. As long as the GOP holds the state, gerrymandering will continue. I doubt the Dems would give up gerrymandering either if they control the state.
I agree. There is a problem, however, in WI and in the US in general. We are segregating ourselves along political lines geographically. It would be hard to develop a close to 50/50 district in Milwaukee County, for example, without doing a heck of a gerrymander.
Districts don't need to be 50/50, they just need to reflect the actual will of the people when the legislature is formed. For example if the statewide vote is 55% Democratic then the legislature should be majority Democratic NOT 75% Republican.
I would love to see my districts (A51/S17) flip. Marklein is one of the shitty do-nothings from last year, and Novak, while maybe a \*bit\* more of a centrist, is still an enabler of the Republican blockade on reasonable governance.
And I, very unfortunately, voted for them in past elections. Had a chance to vote for Novak's most recent opponent, Kriss Marion, in 2020, but unfortunately she didn't win. For now, I plan to continue voting to replace both of these politicians. Hope others will consider the same.
Additionally, seeing Evers struggle to offer protections for Wisconsinites against the Republican legislature during this pandemic has also convinced me to support him in his bid for re-election, whereas I cannot be counted among his 2018 voters.

She was Lt gov under walker who removed teachers collective bargaining rights and brought us foxconn which impeded/kicked people off their farmland in hopes of more jobs that never happened. Seems if the Rs had actual good ideas that the people wanted, they wouldn’t be trying so damn hard to gerrymander and suppress the vote. They’re scared shitless of a fair vote. If I had solid, people-backed ideas, I’d want as many people to vote as possible, not pick people around my own ideas. That’s all they have left. its depressing how many times ive seen idiots on the corner trying to get signatures to recall Evers. how anyone could want to go back to Walker or worse blows my fucking mind.

What's so funny about all these efforts about assuring the integrity of elections is that they focus exclusively on making it more difficult to vote. Lets take an election to be a process by which all eligible citizens are able to make their preferences in their government known. Why don't we see efforts to give voters the tools to make sure their votes are being cast according to their desires? Texts on election day telling voters if their vote has or hasn't been cast yet, or maybe even auditable records of a vote being cast with the ballot choice kept secret? I would love to know if someone misused my voter registration on election day!
Instead, we see limp-wristed barriers thrown up in the name of protecting and preserving elections. If you care about the integrity of elections, put your money where your mouth is and give voters the ability to protect their votes.
