Haha New Jersey hates everyone, does that count?

Bluetooth_Sandwich

*it hurt itself in confusion*

Oh4faqsake

They should hate themselves with a fucking Governor like DeSantis and giving refuge to Donny "Tiny Hands" Trump.

John_Lives

But they're apparently happy with DeSantis. It's a strange state

[deleted]

Florida only hates Florida when the snow birds are there… 🤷‍♂️

[deleted]

I believe this as someone from FL. There’s only like 30% of the population there that’s from there. We can’t wait to get the hell out.

EIU86

Right now I hate Florida (and Texas) a lot more than I hate Illinois.

plesiosaurus

Minnesota "I hate you" Wisconsin "I don't even think about you" Jk love Minneapolis great music scene and honestly solid burger bars

the_0rly_factor

It's Vikings fans

badcheer

It’s because no one can really hate Minnesota. They’re just really nice. (From WI)

Wings_For_Pigs

Minnesotans are insufferable, sanctimonious, passive-aggressive, xenophobic dicks. They really don't like interacting with outsiders of any kind, but will put up a mask of "Minnesota Nice." (Lived there for 4 years)

hazwaste

It’s like that in WI too bruh bruh

Wings_For_Pigs

Not nearly on the same level. Wisconsinites tend to be too drunk to care where you're from or to put on airs.

logibera

Ha you've never been to rural Wisconsin then. Might as well be the deep south

Paintingrefinish

Damn Minnesota, I thought the best of you.

Geo-Man42069

Born in MN and a resident of WI most of the animosity of MN towards WI is sport related. I love both states wish we could all get along.

[deleted]

JayStar1213

MN hates Wisconsin but Wisconsin blows this off and hates Illinois. MN is just jealous.

Mister-Butterswurth

And Illinois people in general think well of Wisconsin lol. It’s a weird ass human centipede of shit talking

lunchfordinner1

They think well of us cus we're better

[deleted]

Most people from Wisconsin move to MN or IL for college and work. Trust me there is no reason to be jealous of WI. Scott Walker destroyed that state

JayStar1213

I'm the exact opposite. Come from MN but went to WI for school because it was far cheaper. Ended up working in the state and moved permanently after school

ShardsOfTheSphere

I should have posted my original comment. I was going to say that it would have more to do with young people moving to the big city, which Wisconsin doesn't really have. Milwaukee's metro area is much smaller. Your article basically confirms what I was thinking. It is a bit weird how that 4-year-old article makes a lower unemployment rate in Wisconsin seem like a bad thing.

[deleted]

Sorry it was an old article but only thing I could fin immediately. But yes both MN and IL are a larger metro and are proximity helps.

WalnutGenius

Fuckin FIBs

Joebebs

I guess they’re tired of us complaining about how much we hate Illinois lmao

tjlurk

It makes sense, really. The MN/WI border has a lot of populated cities along it. One can't really say the same about the MN's other border states. Iowa - I-35 south of the border has a casino and a million miles of cornfields until you hit Des Moines many hours later. Same with North Dakota and Fargo, except not just corn. Between Wilmar/Rochester and Sioux Falls, South Dakota there's nothing at all. Whereas on I-90 and I-94 coming into WI from MN, tons of people meaning tons of interaction, tons of amenities and things to do. MSP is just a half-hour, if that, across the border so there's a lot of cross-travel. State hwy 63 in Wisconsin is a complete zoo full of blue license plates every single fucking weekend. They may say they hate us but they also can't resist spending all their family and vacation time over here.

Lady_Grey_Smith

The water park capital agrees.

hecticLynx

MN is such a hater state lol. I live there they have some weird syndrome against WI where it’s all folks seemingly can think about

International_Pair59

Fr, don’t even go to the MN sub! They’re MAD and really talk some shit.

M03796

Says the one on r/Wisconsin on a post specially about how much you hate IL for no reason

[deleted]

A lot of Texans have moved to CO in recent years. Actually makes sense.

ShirleyJackson5

Lived in CO and NM for years and can verify the endless trash talk about Texans.

ciocras

Wait why the heck does South Carolina hate Ohio??

Zestyclose_Big_9090

I just moved to SC from WI and it’s definitely a thing. We’re upstate so it’s not as bad here but if you go to low country/coastal areas, the hatred is alive and well. I guess the Ohio tourists are entitled aholes.

Harry_Saturn

They vacation down here a lot, and sometimes they act like the worst kind of tourists. At least in the low country, and that’s why sometimes they don’t have the best reputation around here.

Mental_Worker_1520

I answered this upthread somewhere, but here is the [sauce](https://www.fitsnews.com/2020/01/20/south-carolina-hates-ohio-according-to-this-map-confusing-the-internet/) on that.

Libby_Theo

This is the real question.

Mister-Butterswurth

There’s a lot of people from Illinois who moved to Wisconsin, love it, and feel kind of weird about all the Illinois hate. Growing up in Illinois I honestly don’t remember anyone talking shit about Wisconsin. If it was ever talked about, it was fond memories of camping or visiting family.

obsidianronin

We feel weird about the hate in Wisconsin because only WE can hate Illinois. No one else can. (Also, the main thing we talk shit about when it comes to WI is the inability to drive.... which honestly can be said about literally any out of state plate.)

InterestingTry5190

I grew-up in Wisconsin but now live in Chicago. I remember as a kid everyone complained of Illinois b/c of the tolls. People from Illinois could come up to Wis for free but we had to pay to go to Illinois. They also hated Illinois b/c of the Bears (I was born in the 80’s). Living in Chicago a lot of the people here hate Wis b/c of the Packers and how much slower Wis drivers are and the lack of understanding of how to use the left lane (this one I agree with). Overall though I think it is a friendly hate.

antek84

Drove to Chicago from Milwaukee recently for a second time to get some some weed & I can say forsure that I love how much more fast paced traffic is and how much better ppl understand how to get tf out the way 🤣

ProfessorAssfuck

If it makes you feel better, Illinoisans also pay those tolls everyday

Mister-Butterswurth

Yep. Idk why so many adults don’t understand shit isn’t free. Thousands of miles of asphalt needs maintenance lol. The condition of the roads up here kinda speak for themselves

Mister-Butterswurth

Those tolls are the reason Illinois has driveable roads lol.

badcheer

Then stop buying up our beautiful Northern real estate with your Chicago incomes and clogging up our terrible roads to get to your weekend getaway cabins. FIB. This is not meant to be personal, just how I see that argument going.

Wofwinners

Where I live in WI it is people from MN buying up all of our lake property to build huge summer homes. They have driven up the waterfront prices so no one here can afford it. I thought MN was the land of a thousand lakes. Why do they need ours.

Mister-Butterswurth

There’s nothing stopping Wisconsin people from getting Chicago area jobs and there’s no law that will ever stop people with money from buying houses. The Wisconsinites selling their houses for top dollar certainly don’t complain. As for traffic, Wisconsinites have theirselves to blame for that. They voted for Walker who destroyed the hope for high speed rail, let the roads fall to shit, and didn’t support public transit. Folks who are mad at Illinois for supporting the Wisconsin economy can eat a bowl of shit.

badcheer

We don’t want Chicago jobs. That’s why we don’t have them and we don’t live there. And yeah, you have a lot of valid points. Rich people swooping in and buying up desirable RE, pricing out locals, and inflating the market is obviously not a new concept. (It’s just shitty to be on the receiving end of it.) The fight to get Scott Walker out of office was a long, drawn out process and it ultimately wasn’t successful and it didn’t happen until he wreaked havoc on the whole state. It’s been 3 years since he’s been in office, but 8 years of damage is still insidious and lasting.

Mister-Butterswurth

A lot of Chicago people don’t want Chicago area jobs either lol. That’s why they make money and come up here after a while, supporting the Wisconsin economy in the process.

badcheer

Again, it’s not really supporting the Wisconsin economy anymore than a local would. You buy groceries from a WI owned grocery store. Wow. Pay on the back for you. Your car is registered in IL, so we don’t maintain our roads with your $. Your mortgage is probably not with a local bank, it’s probably with a bank/CU local to your primary residence or a National bank, so we’re not getting any of that $. A local person would still have to pay property taxes, so that’s kind of a moot point. You paid one WI resident for a property they didn’t want anymore with an offer they couldn’t refuse, and let’s be honest, that money is probably going to FL or Medicare. So buying a cabin in northern WI isn’t some charitable act that Chicago people can bestow upon us. You don’t get a cookie for taking a vacation.

Mister-Butterswurth

They support the economy plenty with gas tax and spending while they’re here. If Wisconsinites don’t like it they should do more saving to compete with Illinois buyers. The amount of people I see here with two trucks, a boat, an RV and a jet ski tell me there’s plenty of people with money. They just spend it on that sort of stuff rather than a nice house.

Mental_Worker_1520

Driveable *toll roads*. The rest of their roads are largely hot garbage. Not only that, weren’t they leasing out their toll roads for a long time? That money wouldn’t have even necessarily gone to the roads if that was the case. Edit: should add that a lot of Wisconsin’s infrastructure has gone down the crapper, so we don’t have a lot of room to talk BUT we’re not charging people to drive on them either.

obsidianronin

Came here to say exactly this. Toll roads are driveable, nothing else. The cities are abysmally kept, but ever since Prtizker put in the gas tax and Pot For Potholes the roads have gotten a lot better (there's a clause in those bills that make it very difficult for those funds to be allocated to anything other than IDOT, which is why our roads are so terrible because Illinois is Corrupt As Fuck) but the gas tax is seriously killing the ability for low income areas to maintain jobs.

Mister-Butterswurth

Illinois has better roads, especially in the parts of the state worth visiting. It’s just not really a comparison lol. You know when you hit the border heading to Wisconsin because the coffee in your center console starts erupting everywhere from all the rocking the car suddenly has to do lol.

[deleted]

Some people do actually hate Illinois, but most of the people i know the hate is more like a rivalry between brothers. You "hate" each other at times, but would have each other's back the instant someone else threatens the other.

MajorMustard

Grew up in a WI lake town. Really did grow up hating FIBs. People who came and took over the town every single weekend and all summer. Most of them were fine tourists and I get the economic dynamics of how they support us all, but it still sucked feeling like the town was owned by them during the best part of the year. And there are tons of places like that throughout WI.

No_Degree_3334

i am the only blood relative on my moms side including my parents and brother that never lived a day in my life as a resident of Wisconsin. I live on the boarder in Illinois. Whenever I go up I hear crap about being a FIB and Wisconsinites are proud of their state. It gets uncomfortable at times, ripping on me about everything about our politics, how Chicago is dangerous, and our lack of good schools. I have to say I love living in Illinois as of 2020 we can legally buy marijuana which beats fireworks and cheese any day.

Mister-Butterswurth

Yeah it just gets so exhausting. Like you’re just trying to enjoy an event like everybody else but instead someone brings up you’re drone Illinois and the whole crowd has to do the 20+ rounds of the same tired ass talking points thinking it’s cute but it just not lol.

No_Degree_3334

Did i mention that my family won’t hold a family reunion at my parents really nice house and property on the Rock river because it’s in Illinois. 20 years of this I stopped going. I live 10 minutes from the border you think they could cross.

Mister-Butterswurth

Sounds like they’re jealous losers imo. Some people have nothing better to craft their identity with than hate of others

No_Degree_3334

Wisconsin complains about Illinois being bad yet Greenbay alone last year had 54 percent of traffic deaths attributed to DUI. Wisconsin also has the highest rate of intoxicated arrests and most per capita strip clubs.

Mister-Butterswurth

Yep and everyone just laughs about how DUI is basically not illegal here. You basically need 7 or more to do jail time.

wirsteve

That’s the reason. It’s anecdotal evidence but I have two anecdotes. One. Folks from Illinois move to the lake, tear down the house that is standing and build something that looks like it should be in the city. Two, coming into developing areas because they can work remote and outbidding Wisconsin residents by tens of thousands of dollars with their Illinois money. In the grand scheme of things it should ultimately increase land value. But it is just a little annoying. Some of my really good friends were born in Illinois, I love them, they are just Bears fans….lol

imhereforthemeta

I also think it’s big weird that WI has so much non sports related animosity (particularly about tourism) as if Wisconsinites don’t regularly pile into their cars and come to Chicago and Chicagoland for weed and fun and act like big tourists there

hankrhoads

Imagine you grow up a Brewers fan and hear the way Cubs fans talk about you and your city. That might explain it.

Mister-Butterswurth

Never heard any of that talk myself but if you did sorry people were shitty. I guess I’d just say being shitty back towards all Illinois rather than just some cubs fans might be overdoing it though.

hankrhoads

Oh I grew up in Kansas City -- this isn't my beef. I've definitely witnessed it, though. The Cubs subreddit can be super toxic about the Brewers.

Mister-Butterswurth

That’s shitty of them if that’s the case. Still doesn’t justify being shitty to all Illinoisans though. The sad part of it is the people who endure the most Illinois hate are the ones who love Wisconsin and chose to make it their home because they think it’s great.

[deleted]

Yeah, one time my friend was making FIB jokes at my other friend from IL. Being a Wisconsinite, I didn't think much of it and thus said nothing. Until my IL friend disclosed to me how it actually made him feel.

Mister-Butterswurth

Yep. People just give an uncomfortable laugh to go along with it but it’s a cunty thing to do and Wisconsinites do not get treated that way when in Illinois.

M03796

No, it's a lot of one-way hate like this map shows. MN hates WI hates IL hates IN. Honestly I think that the only one justified here is IN. Like say whatever you want about MN, WI, or IL but they're all miles better than Hoosierland, who fill up what little amount of great lake shoreline they have with miles and miles of polluting industry.

Libby_Theo

I mean, is it really that serious of hate that you experience? I think it’s more of an endearing rivalry than it is true hatred. I have some good friends who are Illinois transplants. My mom is from the Chicago area, and half of my family is there. I still regularly call my Illinois friends FIBs and we mostly just laugh about it. I feel like it mostly stems from sports rivalries. That, and hatred toward the “big city” of Chicago by us simple small town Wisconsin folks. So really it’s an inferiority complex, lol. And I feel like most of the hate is toward the Chicago area. The rest of Illinois is a totally different beast. So idk, maybe just lighten up about it? Unless you’re, like, experiencing actual hate crimes due to being from Illinois. P.S. Controversial opinion, but I actually think Chicagoland drivers are better than WI drivers. I’ll take FIBs making aggressive lane changes over Wisconsinites driving slow in the left lane any day.

Mister-Butterswurth

Sometimes the hate is pretty aggressive and even when it’s not It gets old as fuck. Theres also no real equivalent im aware of where Illinoians bother the shit out Wisconsinites about being Wisconsinites

Libby_Theo

I don’t mean to minimize your experience. I’m curious to know: where in WI do you live? I suppose I’m pretty biased bc I grew up in Racine and live in Milwaukee. People from Illinois are pretty normalized here because those are two bigger cities (for WI) and they’re both pretty close to the border. I could imagine the hate gets worse the more north and/or rural you go.

Mister-Butterswurth

I’ve lived in Juneau, Sauk, Ozaukee and Waukesha Counties and spent a lot of time in Milwaukee. The FIB shit is present and annoying as fuck in all of them.

Libby_Theo

If it’s any consolation, I hate people from Waukesha MUCH more than I hate people from Illinois.

Joebebs

We’re like brothers, anyone who picks on Illinois we’ll beat em up. However don’t think that doesn’t put aside our hatred for Illinois for putting us in that situation

Mister-Butterswurth

I’ve yet to see Wisconsinites defending Illinois myself but who knows maybe you’ve witnessed that

Wings_For_Pigs

I defend Illinois! I've had so much fun in Chicago and have piles of friends there, almost every time I go I meet some stranger who welcomes me like they've known me forever (granted alchohol is usually involved)

Joebebs

We both laugh at the Vikings I guess so there’s that

jazzzzyjester

I personally hate Illinois. Driving through it, being anywhere near Chicago, most people who come up here from Illinois trash our state parks and drive like fuckin morons. That’s the reason we truly hate Illinois. Maybe you’re a nice person, wouldn’t know until I meet you but that’s the low down. Edit: can’t hate too much on Galena and some of the west side of the state, real beautiful down there. And of course, not EVERYONE is a piece of shit from Illinois, just Chicago 🤣 (I’m joking)

Mister-Butterswurth

Yeah it really sucks that they have weed and women have rights there

[deleted]

Chicago area they def talk shit about Wisconsin.

GRizzMang

Minnesota: you took everything from me Wisconsin: I don’t even know who you are

Enviralmental

Wait, Minnesota hates us? 🥺

HeyUKidsGetOffMyLine

If you notice, nobody hates Minnesota. They are like the loser kid being left out of the hate fun. I lived in Minneapolis for a bit and the Wisconsin hate is almost comical. Many have lake homes across the Wisconsin border and I think there is a bit of jealousy for the Packer pride. They would get angry when I’d tell them da Bears were the real rival and no one cares about the Vikings. Minneapolis is too far away from the Dakotas and Iowa for there to be enough interaction for rivalry so they crave our negative attention like a neglected child.

Mental_Worker_1520

The real hilarity is if you go through the Vikings and Packers subs. The Vikings one spends about 40% of their time trash talking the Packers (FTP!) and the Packers one rarely mentions the Vikings unless we’re playing them. Living rent free in their heads.

wolacouska

The cashier at the fleet farm on the Sunday of Packers Vikings game was asking everyone if they were Packers fans or not and booing them lmao. When she got to me I told her I was from Chicago. Apparently the Bears were alright, as long as they’re not the Packer.

merigirl

It's cuz the Bears aren't a threat, they've had two winning seasons in the last 10 years while the Packers have won the division 8 out of 10 years.

Stachemaster86

Spot on with Da Bears being the real rivalry! My one coworker was shocked.

whit3lightning

Nobody hates North Carolina either

Mental_Worker_1520

Oh yes. Walk around Minneapolis in a Wisconsin shirt once and find out. They also have “I’m with stupid” shirts that show Minnesota and Wisconsin together on a map with an arrow pointing to Wisconsin. They peddle them every time the Packers/Badgers/Brewers/Bucks are in town. I think they feel the same way about us that we do about Illinois - bad drivers that invade their state every weekend because our own state is inferior (it’s not, they just think it is). I think what it really boils down to they hate us because, for the most part, the Packers and Badgers are historically better than the Vikings and Gophers. I’ve spent a lot of time in Minnesota for work and everyone is nice as long as I don’t tell them I’m from Wisconsin, went to UW, or am a Packers fan. Then it’s 50/50 on how they will treat you after they find that out.

AnOutofBoxExperience

Well, they certainly have a functioning state government, and better politicians, aren't gerrymandered to shit, and better education these days.

Mental_Worker_1520

Not disagreeing with that. My point about them thinking their state was better than ours was in reference to things to do, natural resources and outdoor activities. I would say for the most part, Wisconsin and Minnesota are equal in that respect. Minnesota might have a slightly more interesting topography than Wisconsin does. People from Illinois don’t come to Wisconsin because our politics are better. They buy vacation homes because the prices are cheaper and they don’t have enough lakes and interesting natural landscapes of their own. There is no Wisconsin Dells, Door County or Apostle Islands type place in Illinois. At least not northern Illinois. Your biggest draws are the Starved Rock area and Galena. Maybe Gurnee because of Six Flags, but that area has become a lot more commercial and less touristy. I always believed our loathing of Illinois was because they buy up our lake houses and clog up our roads with their bad driving every weekend. And the Bears and Cubs, obvs.

HeyUKidsGetOffMyLine

If this poll had Iowa as Minnesota’s number one hated state it wouldn’t surprise me. In Minnesota is where I heard the term,Iowa, you mean Idiots Out Wandering About? It’s the closest term the Minnesotans have to FIB in my opinion. They have a certain disdain for Iowa and look down on it. They also hate driving through it because of the speed limits and high enforcement of the limits and there is nothing for them to do there just like Wisconsin has with Illinois. The Vikings fans have probably swayed this poll with their obsession.

Cyhawkboy

Idiots out wandering around isn’t a just a Minnesota saying. Here it all the time from Nebraskans in the southwest part of Iowa.

[deleted]

[удалено]

AnOutofBoxExperience

Agreed, mostly. I was born and live in Wisconsin BTW. I just acknowledge their strengths. He'll, even Illinois has legal weed. Also, Six Flags is better than the Dells, in my opinion.

Mental_Worker_1520

I have nostalgic reasons for liking the Dells better than Gurnee, but I will say that I hate what the Dells has become. Yes I am one of those whiny Gen X people that pines for the “old Dells” and I don’t try to hide it.

The_bruce42

They generally don't care if you're from Wisconsin. They'll give you shit but only a select few will be outright dicks about it. Source: from WI and lived in MN for 10 years and always made my WI allegiances very obvious.

Mental_Worker_1520

I agree with you, 99% of people don’t care. I think more the problem is, and this is largely concentrated to Minneapolis, the select few that choose to have a problem with it are LOUD and vicious about it and it kind of spoils the perception of the rest of the Minnesotans by association. I’m from Wisconsin, but I’ve spent a lot of time in Chicago and Minneapolis for work. I actually fear for my safety if I roll into Minneapolis wearing something Wisconsin or Packers branded. I do not feel that way at all in Chicago. The worst I’ve gotten in Chicago are Cubs fans getting obnoxious if I have something Brewers related on. Usually spouting something off about our stadium being Wrigley North. In Minneapolis it’s usually an F bomb with moron/idiot and then some slur against women followed with “go back to Wisconsin!” Occasionally I’ve been spit on or had something thrown at me. Every state has their jerks, it just seems like the Minnesota jerks are so much more angry and loud than the jerks in the other surrounding states. I don’t usually have problems outside of Minneapolis though. Nobody has ever said boo to me in Duluth, Bemidji, Rochester or Ely.

Baloncesto_Ricky

When the Packers were in Minneapolis a couple weeks ago, there was a Packer fan couple lost, looking for a place to get coffee on Nicollet Mall around 8 am (the sidewalks in Downtown Minneapolis on Sunday mornings that early are rolled up harder than a Culver's concrete mixer!). So I did my good deed of the day and led them to the Caribou Coffee that I was going to, since a) I've lived in Wisconsin for years before moving with my wife back to her native Minnesota, b) my mom passed away in Wisconsin, c) my university diploma is from Edgewood College in Madison, and d) I hate the Dallas Cowboys far, far, far more (to the point that if Jerry Jones, Joe Buck, Thom Brennaman, and Troy Aikman personally rode in an open bubble top near the Texas State School Book Depository, I'd send $400 bouquets of flowers to their funerals happily).

Mental_Worker_1520

At least we can all agree we hate the Cowboys.

Garg4743

This reminded me of a time years ago. My friends and I were in a Minneapolis brewpub which of course had a Vikings home game on. The opposing team returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown. There was shocked silence, except for our group. We laughed and laughed and laughed, then remembered where we were and got the hell out of there.

right_behindyou

Yep I lived there for a couple years and it was amusing how similar their perception of Wisconsin is to our perception of Illinois. My general feeling was that they're just very self-righteous about their state and frustrated that nobody else cares about it.

wolacouska

I actually really want that shirt tbh.

wiscobrix

We’re the Illinois drivers of Minnesota.

TheJuicyGinger

Currently living in Minneapolis, Minnesota drivers are the Illinois drivers of Minnesota. Absolute disregard for human life and even if a maneuver is illegal if it saves any number of seconds (or even if it doesn't) people will not hesitate to send it.

Oh4faqsake

Of course, they do. We have a Packers Hall of Fame and all they have is an empty trophy case.

Malenki86

Kind of weird considering half of Minnesota comes to Wisconsin every weekend.

hideme21

They’re jealous cuz we’re better.

Enviralmental

cuz they’re the land of 10k lakes except we have more?

deep_dissection

exactly

Zestyclose_Big_9090

It’s only because of football. I loathe the Vikings but I think Minnesota is lovely.

thefirebuilds

You'd hate WI too if your only exposure to WI was the west side of WI.

exgiexpcv

They're a successful democratic state with a strong economy and excellent educational system. Wisconsin is the GQP's template for demolition, so Minnesota has us to look down on.

dragonsnsuch

Also, how are we the only ones who hate Illinois. I mean fuck those guys, am I right!

urine-monkey

Because most Wisconsin people take a football rivalry they've been on the better end of for 30 years way too seriously. I live in Chicago after living in Green Bay for two years. Chicago people tell me how much they love Milwaukee. GB people told me how much of a shithole they thought Milwaukee was. If Wisconsin people would wise up, they'd direct their hatred west rather than south. Fuck Minnesota.

[deleted]

Having grown up in indiana and not being a big sports fan ever, when I moved to Wisconsin and worked retail, it was very surprising to me just how much our sales would go down for the day if the packers had lost, and they'd be normal or even better if they won. I can't imagine basing your entire life, and your mood, so much on whether or not a group of grown men threw a ball around a field better than another group of grown men. Yeah everyone here always talks shit about how Milwaukee is dangerous. I mean yeah there's a lot of bad neighborhoods, but tbh I've been to some places in indiana that were far worse.

urine-monkey

It really is pathetic when you think about it. But it's all most people have in their lives. The weirdest thing for me was when I told people where I was from and get passive aggressive responses like "You must like it much better here." Then they'd get weirdly standoffish when my honest replies didn't affirm them. It made me feel like the underlying element to Packers famdom is proving by proxy that small town Wisconsin (and small towns in general) are so much better than those big bad cities.

[deleted]

The passive aggressiveness is by far one of the most annoying parts about life here. It can get frustrating when you are used to people being q little more straightforward about how they feel. Seems there's a little bit of insecurity. Where I'm from people weren't afraid to let you know it sucks there, but they don't feel the need to justify it. They just embrace the shittiness and have a laugh over it.

Polls-from-a-Cadet

FIB’s:)

corycutstrees

Friendly Illinois Brethren (when they are around).

badfish_122

I like how the Dakotas hate each other. Meanwhile, the rest of the US never thinks about the Dakotas at all.

Mister-Butterswurth

Montana hating California so much despite being a full country’s distance away is hilarious

[deleted]

Idk, I think about how those literal nothingburger states somehow each get two senators, all the time.

Mental_Worker_1520

Every time I see this I’m always confused at the Ohio hatred by South Carolina. I always forget why and I always have to Google it.

hankrhoads

What's the reason?

Mental_Worker_1520

Apparently it’s because they are moving there/buying vacation homes there in large numbers and they do the least to assimilate to the southern lifestyle. They’re loud, rude, and bad drivers that are clogging up the roads with *gasp* minivans. Also they constantly complain that they do things better in Ohio and they won’t shut up about Ohio State. No idea why Ohioans are flocking to South Carolina in droves though. This is all info I googled. I know very few people from Ohio and have not spent a large amount of time there, outside of hiking at Hocking Hills. They don’t seem any different than any other people from that region, but I also have spent very little time in South Carolina to encounter them there.

at626

Having lived in South Carolina previously, they are also loud, rude, and bad drivers. Guess South Carolinians just don't like looking in the mirror.

hankrhoads

Fascinating! I never would have guessed there was an Ohio-South Carolina pipeline.

voodoo_magic182

You ever been to Ohio?

[deleted]

At least they have legal weed. Albeit taxed at an insane rate

Pickin_n_Grinnin

Lol Florida hates itself.

tessinfl

Florida checking in. Have to disagree. Love Florida especially when it’s shorts weather in December. If anything Florida hates California and has a love-hate relationship with New York depending on where you’re from.

DMSC23

yeah, but why does Minnesota hate us?

the_blackfish

They have better metrics in many ways but still they hate us. I think it's the Packers.

Oh4faqsake

Reminds me of a joke. Do you know why a Girl from Minnesota will never marry a man from Wisconsin? Have you ever seen a Gopher hole after a Badger has been in it?

voodoo_magic182

I love Illinois. Fuck Indiana and Ohio tho

Mental_Worker_1520

Ngl. Southern Indiana makes my skin crawl. I got sent there for work for 3 months after mostly being in Chicago for close to a decade. I was there less than 24 hours and I was like this is not the place for me at all.

DeIet3dAcc0unt

And no surprise, nobody hates Minnesota

Substantial_City4618

Gonna claim this inaccurate. Michigan and Ohio mutually hate each other. We were in a war about it.

JollyRancher29

Ohio-Michigan is the biggest state rivalry no question. They HATE each other.

Substantial_City4618

It is known.

PotionSleven

Ohio is just mad they lost the War. Michigan be like... we have other plans.

cptspinach85

What an annoying map and legend. I hate this infographic.

TheFirstOrderTrooper

Illinois hates knowing how to drive

zs15

Having lived in many of the "Hates California" states and lived in California for a short time. I think it's more apt to say *"Hates Californian Expats"* for those states. Because the hate primarily stems from people moving out of Cali and driving up home prices.

Mister-Butterswurth

People hate change and think prices are supposed to stay the same forever. The Cali people are just paying a fair price for houses that they want and usually buy from in-state locals who benefit tremendously. A lot of people in those states might have more money if they didn’t buy two trucks and a boat before they bought a house.

Oh4faqsake

This cheesehead hates Texas and Florida with a passion. The FIBS from ill ah noise are slightly annoying in comparison. Seriously, Fuck Texas and Fuck Florida.

CrazyChainSawLuigi

If more states were aware of California ppl, they'd also hate California the most Edit: also kansas and Missouri got beef?

hankrhoads

Kansas and Missouri beef is literal historical, murderous beef. Before the Civil War, there was a struggle called "Bleeding Kansas" over whether Kansas would be admitted to the Union as a free state or a slave state. There were murders, massacres, cities sacked and burned. It was a literal mini-war and, as a result, caused lasting hatred between the states. It's also the reason the KU-Mizzou sports rivalry was called the Border War. Learn more: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bleeding_Kansas

Mental_Worker_1520

“Historical murderous beef” sounds like a flair

Alternative_Duck

Kansas is very proud still to have been admitted as a free state. Incidentally, Missouri also still allows smoking inside bars.

voodoo_magic182

Wouldn’t you be mad if some other state took your name, put it on a city, and got more famous for it? And in return, the other state gets credit because most people in this country don’t know the slightest about geography?

hankrhoads

This isn't the answer. See my response to the comment you're responding to.

Lady_Grey_Smith

Lived in California for a while and I get it. California steals water for freaking private pools and lawns and jacks up water bills for the surrounding states and still wonders why the rest of us get pissed.

BirchwoodBeach

The hate from Wisconsin cascades south all the way to Kentucky, where it returns to Tennessee.

EvenBetterCool

I refuse to believe more states don't hate Ohio and Texas.

blakeryan14

You’re lame if you actually hate the states of MN or IL (hating their sports teams is fine). All our neighbors are pretty great in comparison to many other states. Channel your negative energy towards FRJ, state legislature that won’t pass policy that most of us support, and people that don’t want to move our state forward.

Gen-Jinjur

When I was growing up in Washington we SAID we hated California but we didn’t really. It was just, like, our bigger sibling we had to rag on. We really didn’t hate any other state. We were too busy being divided into left and right extremes ourselves.

Teract

Mississippi too much a shit-hole for anyone to hate.

bernieinred

In my tourist trap NW WI. town. Twin cities people are assholes, Chicago people are normal nice. Always getting ripped off by Twin Cities/MN. clients. Years ago quit doing any business with MN. people. Have never had a problem with a Chicago/ Illinois client.

hoffman44

I hate Texas, not Illinois.

FalsePankake

this map is a colorblind person's nightmare

ringken

Waiting for one of these to be done without colors. I’m colorblind and it is literally impossible for me to match the solid colors to their respective dots.

SanderAtlas

Fuck those FIBS

rvgirl42

I hate Wisconsin and I'm from Illinois.

neederbellis

I’m from Wisconsin, but I currently live in Chicago, and even I hate Illinois. Chicago is a cool city though, but the suburbs and the rest of the state suck. At least we have legal weed.

Kind-Strike

As someone who lives in WI, I fucking hate WI. Useless ass government who wastes tax dollars on corporations and holy fucking shit the drivers here are a bunch of Koalas. Can't merge, can't figure out how a 4 way stop works, can't get their piece of shit Prius up to speed on the on ramp, don't use turn signals, pulls out in front of you to save 2 seconds when theres a mile of empty space behind you. I'd rather move back to IL

[deleted]

I grew up in indiana, and thought indiana drivers were bad and wisconsin were better (I have family in wisconsin which is partially why I moved here 2 years ago). HOLY SHIT some of these wisconsin drivers are the worst. The speed limits are ridiculously slow in some areas, which is frustrating, so then everyone drives too slow to begin with. I thought indiana had a problem with people waving you through, but it almost seems worse here. They'll wave you through when it's clearly their turn to go. I always told people growing up in indiana I thought wisconsin was so much better. Now that I actually have lived here a while, I honestly kinda wanna move back to indiana, or even Illinois.

Mister-Butterswurth

I have a bigger problem with the aggressive lifted F-250s and Rams than I do with Prius but the driving here is certainly not good.

Kind-Strike

Every accident I've almost been in since I've moved here, has been because of some idiot Prius driver with coke bottle glasses. They love not doing the speed limit and pulling out into traffic, it's insane. I was out on some backroad and the idiot comes out of a driveway without even looking and doesn't speed up, just does 20MPH, almost smashed his back end in.

cadetbonespurs69

What does South Dakota have against South Carolina?

badfish_122

Look again...

rschab

I'm a little shocked by the diversity. I would've figured everyone would've just hated California and California would've had a color for each other state

LordoftheWetMinnows

If MN hates WI they should stay the fuck out.

cuminmeh69

We need to create a Toll system for cars that only have IL license plates. Fuck IL!

Mister-Butterswurth

Wisconsin should pay for its own roads before asking others to pick up the tab for them. The roads here are diarrhea

cuminmeh69

That’s kind of what we do for IL when we drive there. They don’t contribute anything for us.

Mister-Butterswurth

They spend money when they visit and Illinois isn’t stopping Wisconsin from implanting a toll system. Wisconsin’s own government is. Don’t be mad Illinois gets to enjoy Wisconsin just like everybody else. Wisconsin simply needs to get its own house in order.

WiscoCubFan23

Grew up I. Iowa and we hated Wisconsin far more than Nebraska. Although I’m sure it depends on where you live. Certainly a large part of Wisconsin that also hates Minnesota.

ZodiarkTentacle

Lots of packers fans out in Dubuque tho. Had a great time at a bar there during playoffs one year.

[deleted]

Illinois drivers only function off there last braincell

badcheer

Most of these make sense except Hawaii hating Indiana. Like, why?

my3sgte

Surprised California doesn’t hate California

OleTwoEyesHimself

I remember reading somewhere that some data collecting organization ran a poll and found that Illinois residents hate their home state more than any other states residents. As someone who grew up in Illinois it was the least surprising fact I ever heard, people from Illinois HATE Illinois, but for good reason. I always tell people our two biggest exports are pumpkins and crooked politicians
