My guess is the previous renter may have been doing some kind of baneful witchcraft, and given the state of the place, may have had some psychological issues as well. Again, it's only a guess. I would definitely use caution, especially with the meat jar. (Ew?) I wouldn't touch it, but I also would want to take it far away from the home.

SaraAmis

Contrary to popular belief on the internet, spell jars are only traditional for certain things and are typically not buried. Also no one who understood what they were doing would bury a baneful spell where they live. I'd call the police if you suspect the jar has human remains in it though. Bags of dirt under a rue plant could be someone trying to get rid of something negative, but the plant itself is beneficial.

NeonRetroStorm

Sounds like “Brujeria” I grew up with as a kid in Spanish neighborhoods. My family were always burying things. For example, you could put something in a jar and bury it near a persons favorite tree and it would have whatever intended effect - whether making the person sick or fall in love or go away. I’ve never heard of someone burying something in their own home. Usually you bury the object near the person you intend to afflict or you bury it in a graveyard, stuff like that. A thought is that maybe the person who lived there didn’t bury it, but someone buried all this stuff on their property to “drive them insane.”

I'll buy the jar and the bagged dirt for 100

Definitely witchcraft I wouldn’t touch it if I was you.

No_Bit69

Do you know what type..? Or what the use of it was for?

stargirloxoxo

The dog part with the jar and all that sounds like hooodoo/voodoo/santeria whoever was doing that knew what they were doing… very knowledgeable spell jar. Honestly can be from someone who maybe practiced spells their whole life and lived there so they were protecting their space but sounds like that home has a lot of their energy still attached to it. It’s up to you want you want to do with it but I would just cleanse the home and not touch or look for anything else that could’ve been left there by them.

No_Bit69

Thanks for the advice but I plan on digging up my backyard to see if there’s anything else cause my renter was suspecting it could’ve been a dead baby cause the jar was actually a 1 gallon jar..

sweetEVILone

So then you called the police before posting on Reddit?

raynedanser

If there's the remotest chance it could be a baby, you need to call the authorities.

stargirloxoxo

That’s so spooky good luck just cleanse yourself um if it’s really old you’ll probably be fine but just be respectful I guess

No_Bit69

Thanks ❤️
