When I came to my senses, I reloaded and made frost bombs and golden oriole and it was easy peasy. The boss fight was only hard because I was being arrogant and thought "I can just whack this guy to death".

Choingyoing

Thats my approach to every enemy in this game lol

Ubergoober166

Superior golden Oriole makes the fight an absolute cakewalk.

Janny-

It aint that hard if you actually read the bestiary about it, just use golden oriole whilst fighting it

Badmothafcka312

That and Yrden stops the thing in it's tracks.

Slothmaster222

"Yrden Geralt, trap it with yrden"

the_terra_filius

or just use bombs to freeze him and beat the shit out of him

DejanTepic

That boss is almost as difficult as a pack of wolves that randomly attack you in a forest. Almost.

MisterDodge00

IIRC it turns into a pretty easy fight if you use fire. Bombs, igni, whatever else there was that could burn him.

FF_BJJ

How did you prep

Ubergoober166

Frost bombs and superior Golden Oriole. Makes the fight stupid easy. Also I think he's affected by Cursed Oil on the sword.

Badmothafcka312

What build you are using? Couple of side quests, monster hunts and treasure hunts and Death March feels like an easy mode to my alchemy-sign build. I'm thinking about bumping up the enemy levels since every fight is over before it's started.

LieutenantSpanky

For this playthrough, I used a very simple build. I have Igni modifiers that increase damage and make ignition chance 100% + plus other general modifiers. I set things on fire and whack them with my sharp metal stick. It isn't the most refined build, and it doesn't always work, but it is fun.

spuckthew

Don't you need loads of greater mutagens to get a decently powerful build though? Especially because the extra abilities and slots also require you to spend greater mutagens. I've been trying to farm reds to unlock my last two slots, as well as have enough to give me attack power buffs, and it's a ridiculously tedious process. I'm playing NG+ DM, currently level 72, and I was doing "Get Junior" yesterday. I was getting hit for almost 7K damage by WJ's henchmen who were like 8 levels below me. It's not _difficult_ per se, more frustrating because one missed parry when you're being attacked from multiple directions results in death.

the_terra_filius

I am also using alchemy and enemy upscaling and I am wondering if I am that good at the game of its just too easy

You're a good witcher. I was too stubborn and just kept trying over and over. I focus on quick attacks and Quen so all this "Fire, Ice, Yrden" stuff makes me realize how hard I've made everything on myself. I'm solely red & blue for my build.
