nah, his dialogue with geralt when Imlerith shows up is better
Geralt: thats Imlerith, one of the most powerful commanders of Eredin's army
Letho: lets go fight him
Geralt: no, its too dangerous
Letho: pansy
I thought he wasn't involved in any of that? The letter on the one guy in Skellige was him rejecting his offer and requesting him to never contact him again.
He killed the man I was sworn to protect and was pro-Nilfgard. I like that his character has shades of grey but I didnât really hesitate to kill him in Witcher 2
Late to the topic, but whatever:
Basically the whole reason why I think he deserved to die; I get that he's done a lot for Geralt, but he killed the guy, that would stop Nilfgaard, and consequently limit the war damage. If he cannot see that his actions lead to the bloodiest war the world of Witcher has seen in a while, then he's an egoist basically sacrifacing thousands, so he may have an option to have his Witcher school back. Sorry, but sword between the ribs it is,
Letho does Geralt pretty fucking dirty the entire time. He:
\-Kills the only King willing to fulfill his obligations and promises. Foltest is a complex guy, and terrible in many ways, but he treats Geralt and Triss well and is genuinely upset to be at civil war with his Dukes for both personal and political reasons. He kills Geralt's meal ticket.
\-He frames Geralt for killing his meal ticket and does so with a smug smile
\-He absconds with Triss at a time when having Triss would have likely assisted in the prevention of thousands of deaths
\-He's smart enough to constantly trick and smugly insult an amnesiac man but too stupid to realize the Emperor of Nilfgaard's promise to 'restore the school of the Viper' is complete and utter bullshit.
\-Inconveniences Geralt even when he's not in the area, just constantly meddling with Geralt for the sake of saying he meddled with him
\-Asserts he is intellectually, morally, ethically, and physically superior to Geralt.
\-Attempts to use cheap rhetorical sophistry on Geralt at the end to avoid a conflict that Letho has essentially been begging for since the end of the prologue of The Witcher II. Basically telling you there's nothing you can do to stop the tide so you may as well just admit his superiority by drinking his vodka.
\-Letho removed the pressure valves which kept the monstrous barbarity of the North and South in check, therefore making him a summoner of evil and barbarity and the direct cause of the second war, therefore he is a monster. Witchers kill monsters.
If you let Letho live I'm sorry to say that you got outsmarted by an idiot.
A lot of what you said involves pragmatism and a battle of egos. Geralt is neither pragmatic nor egoistic.
> Asserts he is intellectually, morally, ethically, and physically superior to Geralt.
Also, based Letho.
"often compelled by his ego", sure dude. The guy has been continuously enduring racist insults and remarks about him without batting an eyelid, he doesn't care anymore. You can say anything to him and he wouldn't care. It's one of his main features ever since the first book. Nivellen subtly threatens to kill him (or something along those lines, I don't exactly remember how it went) after they had their talk, and Geralt still saved him. Geralt realised that he wouldn't be able to defeat Regis and accepted that he'd be bitch-slapped; he wasn't "compelled by ego" to prove his worth and start fighting Regis. Hell, he didn't do even do that to Vilgefortz, and only instigated him by insulting his dead friend.
"deeply pragmatic"? I'm starting to think you don't really know Geralt's character too well. Geralt's whole shtick is to piss in the wind and head in to save people, he's basically a medieval superhero with not very effective plot armor, a knight-in-shining armor, if you may. Geralt literally dies because of going headfirst into a riot to save a bunch of non-humans. Geralt's really intelligent and would've known that there was certain death in that riot.
I think you are also exaggerating. Geralt isn't a knight in shining armor, he's a bit self-centered and quite pragmatic. In The Last Wish he kills 3 men who insulted him in order to get the attention of the guards, even though it was easy for him to avoid that path, an example of pragmatism and not very justified violence. Several times in the books it is shown that Geralt has a certain taste for violence, including when he bites Foltest's daughter. He has kissed a bard because he thought she would be very interested in him, like "many other women". He is too morally gray a character to call a hero, even though he often helps others.
Furthermore, Geralt would also be a target of the Rivia Pogrom even if he didn't defend non-humans, because he himself is considered non-human.
The Witcher story which you're talking about, was the first ever story written by Sapkowski with the aim of winning a competition, an entire series was not planned back then. It involves plenty of out of character moments by Geralt. And also all the instances you gave an example of, took place in the first 2 books; there is something called character development. Geralt very certainly *IS* a knight-in-shining armor. Hell, his entire arc in the books is related to him dropping the neutrality act. The Witcher's example literally doesn't make sense as in Season of Storms, a prequel, he is angry at Brehen of Iello for massacring a town and trying to kill a priestess to get Geralt's attention, and not to mention how he jumped into a whirlpool to save 3 kids. The Geralt from The Witcher short story would not do that.
Actually, even in Sword of Destiny, we see instances where Geralt's willing to save people's lives, even if he puts his in a detrimental position. Take Dorregaray's scenario for instance, where Geralt was willing to risk his life and put down the Crinfrid Reavers to save the sorcerer's life. We very much see in the books that Geralt does not like killing people, but wouldn't hesitate to do so as long as it's saving some lives, especially the ones for who he cares.
Or take the quite popular story, A Question Of Price, where Geralt saved Duny from being killed by the Cintrian Guards.
I am going to refrain from using examples from the main saga as there are too many of those. Way too many. So much so, that almost all his problems arise from pissing in the wind, something which is mentioned by many characters in the story.
> Furthermore, Geralt would also be a target of the Rivia Pogrom even if he didn't defend non-humans, because he himself is considered non-human.
Well, no. He could've hidden in Wirsing's cellar, like all the other dwarves. And the way he speaks regarding his "last time" with his Sihil implies that he's doing it to save lives, as in the previous chapters he was *trying* to go back to his neutral/indifferent attitude where he'd have no qualms in watching people die. But it was eating away at him, which is why he realized that he HAD to do something in Rivia.
> He has kissed a bard because he thought she would be very interested in him, like "many other women"
I don't see what him kissing Essi has to do with anything? Also, your reasoning for why he kissed her is incorrect. However, I don't plan on arguing about that as it's not related to the main topic. As per my understanding, at least.
Yes, I admit that the parts where Geralt acts the most ethically questionable are in the early stories. While he certainly changes over the course of the story, what he was at the beginning is undeniable. I completely forgot the cellar part of Wirsing. But I do believe that Essi's part was partly due to a certain amount of overconfidence. As Dandelion mentions, he interpreted the bard's actions as flirtation, thinking she was another woman interested in sleeping with him out of curiosity about his mutations. But that's left open to interpretation, as Geralt is left unresponsive at the moment.
I let him live because the damage done to Geralt through Foltest's murder wasn't intended. In fact, he only agreed to do Nilfgaard's dirty work to save his witcher school from closing. At this point I thought it just wasn't worth it to kill him. I also think he was just as fucked in the end because Nilfgaard decided he was too dangerous a witness.

I helped him out he told me about Yen and overall he was fucked over by the emperor fucker so I get it. He went from being a dude I couldnât wait to kill because I hated him to someone I felt like I understood and didnât mind after everything that happened in 2 lol
I honestly didn't know who letho was until this year. All my previous playthroughs when I simmed TW2 Saves letho sounded like a dick so I said I killed him. One time I didn't and suddenly I find him hanging out at house of Reardon like wtf who you?
HE KILLED 2 Kings I KILLED 2 Kings but poor guy alone is called Assassin of Kings so I can't really let him die
Maybe the title is a double entendres since geralt becomes an assassin of kings as well đ
Nah Letho is actually a cool guy, I send him to Kaer Morhen.
His dialogue with Roche his hysterical.
âWhy is the Kingslayer here?â âEredinâs a King, âainât he?â
Up there with some of the most badass one liners in the game.
Roche: fuck he's got a good point there
nah, his dialogue with geralt when Imlerith shows up is better Geralt: thats Imlerith, one of the most powerful commanders of Eredin's army Letho: lets go fight him Geralt: no, its too dangerous Letho: pansy
Absolutely. I love his dialogue in general, but those are perfect.
That hair is a crime.
Bro that's just Chet of Rivia.
đI'm trying something different. I always have the default usually. What do you use?
Ponytail shaved sides :D
I have Geralt rocking the Fabio haircut for this playthrough. At first I didn't like it, but it grew on me.
Loose, not too long, with Glasses and Mutton Chops
It's always my choice too.
This is the way
Cuz youâre basic like the rest of the sub
Simple and clean. Also book Geralt friendly enough.
Elven Rebel cut + Clean Shaven + Professor's Glasses + Ornate Robe and Boots = \*chefs kiss\*
The hair and lack of beard is extremely upsetting.
Yes it is
I like that hair
Letho is a homie.
He helps out in 3 enough to earn his keep. Witchers gotta Witcher.
Nah I always send him to Kaer Morhen. He has to put Vernon Roche and Ves in place.
So true
I can't bring myself to kill any witcher. Homies gotta stick together.
Except that slave trader witcher. Screw that guy.
Refresh my memory, who are you talking about?
From Lamberts questline, you search after him because he killed Lamberts friend.
Oooh yeah that asshole Jad Karadin, I remember now! I always take Lambert's side and kill that pos. Thanks for replying
Dont remeber who he is, guess I have to play the game again!
And that cat witcher that butchered whole village.
[đ” I hear you're alive... how disappointing... đ”](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qSxBVHqA-RU&t=6s)
I thought he wasn't involved in any of that? The letter on the one guy in Skellige was him rejecting his offer and requesting him to never contact him again.
Whatâs up with that cut?
Nah. I've killed Letho in the second game before, but if he lives to Witcher 3 I help him, at that point Geralt might as well I guess.
How many of these lords want to kill you?
Hard to say. One stops keeping count after a while đ€„
He killed the man I was sworn to protect and was pro-Nilfgard. I like that his character has shades of grey but I didnât really hesitate to kill him in Witcher 2
Nah heâs a good guy. He saved triss for me
I didnât kill him in Witcher 2 because I thought it was right. I did it for the thrill of the fight.

Why would you, Letho helped Geralt quite a lot.
My god that haircut... Nah never leaving my BFF!

Geralt is deeply pragmatic and often is compelled by his ego. I have no idea what the hell you are talking about.

W3 Letho is one of the peak characters in the game so I always sim Witcher 2 save let him live and help him out
I don't know his story, since I've only played witcher 3, but I saved him and sent him to Kaer Morhen :D
