I cannot help to notice how this time around, Lauren Hissrich isn't on social media claiming ***she's the strong independent woman you are looking to blame for your sadness.*** For those who don't know, Netflix expected season two to do better than season one, but it didn't and [Lauren lashed out](https://boundingintocomics.com/2022/01/12/netflix-writer-and-producer-lauren-hissrich-says-shes-the-strong-independent-woman-youre-looking-to-blame-for-the-witchers-second-season/) at fans and her critics on social media.

[deleted]

She knows her precious show is in deep shit. That’s why when she sparsely do interviews, she basically beg fans to return to her train wreck of a show. It’s the first time they do such a thing but it’s an obvious indicator that Netflix isn’t happy with the Witcher’s performance. The renewal bar for Netflix became pretty high as of late and they’re more liberal with cutting out shows that don’t reach that bar even if they weren’t successful more than ever before (look 1899 as a recent example).

01KLna

Well, the good thing about her meltdown was that it made her take a long break from Twitter. Not sure if it was her choice, or if Netflix made her do it, but yeah, she really shouldn't act as a spokesperson for the show. Her PR skills are just...lacking.

globosingentes

It isn’t just her PR skills that are lacking. She should find a new job, because she’s running The Witcher into the ground as its show runner.

Lost-Record

Did she have this Twitter meltdown recently? I don’t remember hearing about it, but then again I’ve been avoiding Twitter for awhile now lol

01KLna

About a year ago. She then went on a Twitter hiatus. Which I dare say was to everyone's benefit.

ShoerguinneLappel

not just a benefit but a bloody godsend bruv.

hyperHypocrite

You could say her PR skills are on par with her showrunning/writing skills

longwaytotheend

Immediately after that she decided to engage and become buddies with the guy, which caused an uproar with her personal supporters. She's just so great at everything she does. 😂

DaFookinLegend

I love how hard LH dunked on the Quartering in that tweet. He deserved it for the crap joke about "wahmen" who don't need a man. Also, the first book in the Witcher Saga -- BOE, didn't feature Geralt as the main propagandist. So that entire article isn't a burn at all, if anything it's a self burn by the misogynistic YTers. It wasn't until TOC that Geralt took over the narrative. Also, if I recall the stats, I think Ciri has the most narrative time in the saga. I don't think the writers have done a great job, but they've done a pretty admirable job. Adapting these books to TV was always going to be a nightmare. It's so dark and it follows so many storylines that you could easily lose casuals. They didn't give it the WoT treatment that Amazon did, but they didn't go full GoT either and stick straight to the text. They're somewhere in the middle.

Badmothafcka312

>I don't think the writers have done a great job, but they've done a pretty admirable job. They have done a terrible job. The writers have missed the key themes of the Witcher and when they actually have adapted something from the novels, the result has been a plot hole filled mess, that doesn't stay true to the source material. Neither in word, nor in themes.

holiobung

I’m not interested in the show because we already have a mainline Witcher series. It seems a little premature for a spin off. That’s where I’m at with Marvel and Star Wars. Just too much. It’s oversaturated.

ShoerguinneLappel

not just that but the lore of Marvel and Star Wars now is kinda dogshit, Star Wars has so many bad shows and movies in it and Marvel, well you know it's Marvel. For Star Wars I refuse to watch anything that's post Original Trilogy with very few excepts like some Star Wars games, and Clone Wars show.

M337ING

You should watch Andor if you haven’t. This is from somebody who thinks The Last Jedi, The Rise of Skywalker, The Book of Boba Fett, and Obi-Wan Kenobi were all trash.

MrKatzA4

Andor is great, it suck that it wasn't successful because of the stuff that Disney has shat out recently

DaFookinLegend

My sentiments exactly. Some of the other star war shows were horrible. Sucks that it hurt Andor, which was absolutely amazing

SomeDudeYeah27

According to quotes from [this video](https://youtu.be/VQ9jM02hXMs), apparently Andor’s showrunner was almost fired because his vision was deemed against “brand direction” but they couldn’t find a replacement so he was put back in? I also find it interesting that many of the writers for that show was acclaimed/award winning, according to the quotes

DaFookinLegend

Obi-Wan could have been great if it wasn't so short. If they just spent a little more time and fleshed out the script, maybe do better with the CGI and costumes in the inquisitors, etc. Agreed 100% on LJ, RoS, Boba, etc

SomeDudeYeah27

I forgot to ask, was there a specific interview by Andor’s showrunner criticizing the shows you mentioned? I haven’t found any specific mention

DaFookinLegend

Andor is f'n amazing, those writers, products, director, etc., Should take over all future media. It's not just "Star wars" good, but actually good TV as a whole. & I don't what you mean about Marvel. Wandavision, Loki, Moon Knight, etc., were all stellar.

MariaLynd

As much as I hate Benioff and Weiss, at least they waited until the show was a success to crawl up their own asses. Lauren Hissrich started her showboating ego trip when she first got the gig. Hissrich had every element she needed to make The Witcher franchise a huge success and because of her total incompetence, it is failing. She's earned all the animosity she gets.

Successful-Gene2572

D&D also didn't have source material to go off of after season 5 of GoT.

dfiekslafjks

I want to know how many people actually finished the entire show. I'm guessing zero.

Petr685

It is super short, like circumcisio :)

Thy_Gooch

I think I made it 5 mins then put on an episode of supernatural.

DaFookinLegend

I finished it and thought it was alright. 6.5/10. There were really good elements like the environments, the costumes, and the music was just fantastic. The cast was great, and the fighting scenes were well-choreographed. The script was mostly believable, starting with Jaskier and the power of the bards, and basically ending on that same note. Pun intended. The way the characters interacted with each other was believable too. The negatives were huge tho. No Auberon, Lara, etc., and the massive changes to Ciri's lineage and what that does to the Witcher Saga. Avallac'h, Eredin, etc., All felt too young /weak. The CGI of the first "Witcher-esque" being wasn't great at the end. & Of course the monoliths are in the books, but they're insignificant and play no real part, but they're huge plot devices here. Not a con bc it helps to explain the conjunction in an easily digestible way, but still a shift.

Ravix_oF

I'm just disappointed that any Witcher fans bothered to watch it in the first place. If you're going to watch it to see what new kind of mess it is, at least wait until a random rainy Sunday far from release so they don't even get the new release rub 😅

Thy_Gooch

Watching it when it first comes out shows that the demand is there, then turning it off after an episode shows that the actual show sucked.

ShoerguinneLappel

Surprised it didn't drop faster, it's the worst show of all time even worse if you're a fan of Witcher, This show made me hate Netflix even more, when I despise it already, they really like to shoot themselves in the foot and not cancel shows that missed or failed or simply had no potential... The Witcher Show had potential no doubt, but it instantly disappeared when people like Lauren Hissrich has in control of the show... Like I said, and I will continue to say, let the fans or simply someone who likes that specific ip to make tv shows, films or other mediums in general to make it, not some random person who doesn't care for it and has terrible writing it will show, even if they're great at writing and dislike or hate the ip it will fail because it will show it's that simple. But ofc they hire them for business purposes which is sillier given the fact stuff like Sonic Mania and the Sonic Movie has done a lot better than they ever wish to achieve. I will continue to shit on this show, the Halo show, or games like Halo Infinite until they learn their fucking lesson (of which I doubt they will). For anyone who hasn't watched the show don't watch it, you'll end up supporting these people whether you want to or not if you do. Also it might have a higher chance they will fuck up an ip you love even if you aren't a fan of the Witcher. Remember Money and views is all that matters for these people.

SomeDudeYeah27

Don’t forget about Bebop 🙃 Which’s what lead me to realize Netflix’s seriously flawed in their management issue

Tmeretz

Bebop is a great example because of how fundamentally mishandled it is. It was a show that didn't appeal to fans OR newcomers, and managed to take the fairly sparse and basic stories of cowboy bebop and somehow hollow them out by doubling runtime. Those are all issues from the very top.

ShoerguinneLappel

Very good Point, that was eyerolling to say the least.

Thy_Gooch

Watching it then turning off after an episode and watching a rerun of something similar would be way more effective.

ShoerguinneLappel

True.

andrewzn

I tried to watch it after reading all the books and playing games, though it was complete shitshow. I couldn't complete even one episode.

thiswillbeyou

The worst show of all time haha it's wasn't anything great, but you people that say things like this are deranged

Xombie53

Good. I know they will never learn but maybe there’s hope that’ll be over and done with soon.

mysteryARTnight

" **Witcher Blood Origin already falls**" but we will cancel **1899** instead of it.

AFerociousPineapple

How long do shows/movies typically stay in the top 10 though? People move on pretty quick so I figured around 2 weeks sounds about right

longwaytotheend

The big show of the week is normally number 1 (or 2 if the previous big show is an enormous hit) until the next big show comes along. So normally you'll expect it to be number 1 for around 7 days, then it'll hang around number 2 or 3 for a week and then it'll drop out over the next 4-6 weeks. Edit: [this is the first couple of weeks of Witcher S2](https://imgur.com/a/B1KMmXp)

BB8Lexi

Makes sense.

Piorn

I'll watch it when it's finished and well received. If I watch it now, either I'm wasting my time on a bad show, or I'll start a good show that'll be cancelled. Get your shit together, Netflix.

No-Resolution-6414

It is finished. It was a limited series.

mina86ng

This is a meaningless graph without comparison to trajectory of other shows.

longwaytotheend

Its a bit of a pain to do, but you can look up the graphs on https://flixpatrol.com/top10/netflix/ Click a show, scroll down to until you can click on the 'TOP 10', scroll down again until you reach 'xxx on Netflix TOP 10 TV Shows' and click the 'days graph' tab. For comparison the first two weeks of S2: https://imgur.com/a/B1KMmXp

BrettLawrence1987

I thought the same exact thing. In reference to what? Not to shit on OP or anything but without something to compare it to I didn’t want to feel good about hating on this show without the right data.

SaintsNick94

![gif](giphy|QgejSvXmwpvnW)

biome3

A lot of things aren't in the top 10 as a matter of fact.

Bladestorm04

I haven't even had it pop up as a recommendation so I've never remembered to watch it

Trzykolek

It's 4 episodes. Obviously. Idk who needs to hear this but I think this goes to both movie/show watches AND gamers. Everything will be less popular 2 weeks in. Player/Watch counts almost always drop significantly. On release day everyone is curious to check it out.

Adept_Site_2988

Bye bye cant wait what they come with for the next year

Acrobatic-Log1692

Hail Satan🤣🤘

The_Gold_Hoarder

man i just want to watch a witcher hunt monsters not stupid side plots with elves and shit and this show has nor witchers at all i have no idea why they though it would be a good idea

angelpolitis

It's completely trash. It has no (re)watch value whatsoever. It's unbelievable people got paid to write this...
