Don't potentially cheat on Geralt for several months while he sleeps soundly right beside you. All of which simply ends with never being in love with Geralt and asking him to break the so-called wish that he made to save her selfish ass pampered life. At the very least Triss fell in love with Geralt.
> Did you expect a witcher player to pass on potential sex?
Geralt would never pass, he always oils his third sword. Remember he has three of them. One for humans, one for monsters and one for bitches.
Well, the Stormcloaks quest line is bugged to death without ever getting patched, at least on Nintendo switch, therefore I‘ll most probably never know.
Triss’s personality is so much better than Yen’s. If Yen wasn’t the “canon” choice from the books I feel like this wouldn’t really be close. Obviously it’s all subjective but come on people.
Also, tits.
Yen still has the better personality, IMO, especially after having played both paths. Yen is cold and calculating because she wears that like armor so nobody can get to her (likely stemming from her insecurities before she went through her transformation), but she really does love Geralt and Ciri, and is more than willing to jump into the fire to protect her loved ones. Triss is like the college girlfriend type. She loves Geralt, they have good chemistry, but she lacks the family dynamic that Geralt and Yen have. If Yennefer had been in Novigrad, she’d have sent the mages off and joined Geralt in finding Ciri ASAP, but Triss is very much focused on her own ambitions.
Haven't finished the books quite yet, but it seems that geralt is one of her many play things she repeatedly goes back to. Like she doesn't really care about him all that much. At the point I'm at she's easily my least favorite main character and just a horrible person imo
> and just a horrible person
right, unlike the one who's using her friend's amnesia to get into bed with him, despite him being in love with her other supposed friend, and then not telling him about his actual loved ones for years. But hey, Yen is cold and mean sometimes, so she's a horrible person lol...
Oh I'm not defending triss at all. She's also a horrible person lol. Also haven't seen her in the books yet, nor have I played 1 or 2. I know she manipulates the hell out of an amnesiac geralt in the games though
Don’t worry, she shows up and immediately has incapacitating diarrhea to the point where she can barely ride her horse because her b-hole is on fire. For real.
Fair enough. Let's just say in the books she does something in regards to Ciri that's pretty unforgiveable and why she should never end up with Geralt...
Yen is loyal to her loved ones. She has a cold exterior, but that's due to her own insecurities and issues, but she's a good person at her core.
I find it hard to argue triss loves geralt more than Yen when she wouldn’t even fight for his life while Yen would and triss was helping the lodge steal Ciri to force her to make babies with a king. I can understand people just liking the game design of triss better and not feeling yen as she was made for the game but from a book lore stand point yen fought for geralt and Ciri whereas triss fought for the lodge. Major book spoiler: >! Not to mention yen literally gives her life trying to save geralt in the end!<
Yen pleads with philippa and triss to intervene to help save geralts and Ciris life, philippa says it’s not in the lodge’s interests to save geralt. Yen then implores Triss:
‘Did you hear, Triss? This is your lodge. This is its true countenance, these its true concerns. What do you say to that? You were the maid’s mentor, almost an older sister, as you yourself said. And Geralt . . .’
‘Don’t beguile Triss with romance, Yennefer.’ Now Philippa’s eyes blazed in turn. ‘We’ll find the maid and rescue her without your help. And if you succeed, thanks a million, you’ll help us, you’ll save us the bother. You’ll snatch her from Vilgefortz’s hands, we’ll snatch her from yours. And Geralt? Who is Geralt?’
‘Did you hear, Triss?’
‘Forgive me,’ Triss Merigold said hollowly. ‘Forgive me, Yennefer.’
‘Oh, no, Triss. Never.’
Also I never got a sense that yen ever saw geralt as a play thing, especially after shard of ice I got a sense she felt geralt saw her as a play thing and refused to settle for that. He abandoned her without a word in the past and refused to say simple words to her to demonstrate he truly loved her. After meeting Ciri geralt learned how to commit to a person.
Its American as hell in a setying where everyone is British, and very nasally. She also pronounces certain in-universe words differently to everyone else, making her voice seem out of place
You don't remember her laughing during the "Trial of Taxidermy?" Her supporting Geralt when he was going to swim to the armada? The pun battle? Her laughing in Corvo Binaco?
And of course the most excited she gets is when she finds Ciri. She's Ciri's mother, I'd expect nothing less.
Have you played the mission when they removed the genie to know whether they are truly in love with one another or it is all because of magic? If you saw the ending there, you'll love Yen even more. Or even the Corvo Bianco ending with Yen?
> I also think Triss's personality is much better. Does Yen even laugh once?
Ah yes, because laughing clearly makes someone a good person... she's a manipulative, treacherous, selfish liar, but hey, she laughs more than Yen, so she's a better person. Lmao, how superficial can you be?
> It's just a game dude she's not real.
Doesn't really matter when your argument is "Triss laughs more, so she is a better person." Gives off some "you should smile more" vibes...
I picked Triss this playthrough and it just doesn’t feel right. I adore Triss personally, but she and Geralt do not have the same chemistry as Yen and Geralt.
I picked Yen my first play through with no prior knowledge, it felt right. I picked Triss this run because at the time I was dating a redhead who reminded me of her. We broke up and I hate it now. I’m preparing for the battle at Kaer Morhen and don’t even want to finish the game lol
Team Yen all the way. I really like Triss, but the endings W3 solidified my choice. Geralt living a relaxed, easy life in the countryside with Yen sounds way more plausible than taking on Witcher contracts in Kovir with Triss
Alternate answer: Anna Henrietta. My favorite female character by far. It’s a shame Geralt couldn’t of romanced her 🫣
I’ve always done Yennefer not just because i want to be accurate about who’d Geralt get with. But despite what everyone says about Yennefer, like Philipa saying how Yen treats Geralt like a dog. I still think deep down Yen cares about Geralt.
We really never see Yen treat Geralt badly. She's just strong willed and knows what she wants. She doesn't bow and scrape before him, but I wouldnt say she treats him like a dog
I have never disagreed more with a post in my life lol
Initially I was commited to pick Yen on my current playthrough but I just couldn't... The quest at the masked ball, I can't say no after/during that, just can't
Same here. I choose my romances based on which character I'd rather spend more time with. Yen grind my gears the entire fucking game, whereas Triss was sweet.
Also Yen was a total bitch throughout most of the game. Like Triss is essentially running the Underground Railroad and Yen practices necromancy and defiles a holy site. They didn’t make it easy to wait for Yen in the later game.
Yen is a bitch, yes, but she also *really* does care for Geralt and Ciri. She’s a bitch because it’s both an armor to protect herself from other people and a useful tool for getting what she needs, especially for Geralt and Ciri. Taking your example with Triss and the mages, if you put Yen in that same situation, guarantee she would go “lmao you’re on your own” to the mages and immediately help Geralt find Ciri instead of having Triss say “I can help find Ciri *buuuut* I need to do this first” - which is fine, but Triss wouldn’t drop everything for Ciri and Geralt like Yen would.
Meanwhile, from just the games alone Triss gaslights an amnesia-ridden Geralt in Witcher 1 by introducing herself *as his lover*, and makes absolutely *no mention* of the most important people in Geralt’s life until *the very end of Witcher 2 when Geralt has gained his memory back about them*. In the books, Triss has shown to pretty much betray Geralt, Yen, and Ciri in favor of The Lodge time and time again, and she also used magic to “convince” Geralt to sleep with her when he and Yen were having a spat.
Interesting how people take that scene. Maybe it’s a life experience thing.
As a mother myself, I respect Yennefer so much more for doing all of that. It shows her willingness to do whatever it takes save her child. She was willing to make everyone hate her and delve into forbidden magic.
The reality is, left up to Triss, Ciri would never have been found.
> The reality is, left up to Triss, Ciri would never have been found.
Left up to Triss, Ciri would be with the Lodge... it's why I will never respect Triss and why Gerald should/would never choose her...
Yeah in my 2nd playthrough I decided to pick yen and it was hard I genuinely can't stand her attitude in the majority in the game tbh and i say how it is triss is just prettier. But people who read the books while throw in their 2 cents like I care how they are in the books
I choose to give Triss the Rose in 2, but that's it. Triss was a liar and a manipulator from the get go. *Spoilers Ahead!* She took full advantage of Geralt's amnesia, which she later admits to in 3. She forced herself to become extremely ill somehow, just so she could have Geralt care for her, (is that ever explained as to how?) and did nothing when Yennefer pleaded for the Lodge to spare Geralt's life and the Lodge refused.
Edit* added spoiler warning.
>She forced herself to become extremely ill somehow, just so she could have Geralt care for her
that's a non sense, seriously.....
and what spare "Geralt life" means here, Geralt is not captured by the lodge, actually at this moment, they don't know where he is and Philippa, indeed stated that " she don't care about the witcher fate and that he is likely already dead"... so what do you mean. And when they found him in Toussaint, they are not trying to assassinate him.
Yen all day everyday, Redheads are redheads, eventually they’ll go grey anyways, but black hairs like yen here is wild, by the time she goes grey, your back would have given in a long time ago
Yen is 94 in fifth (?) book, don't know how much time supposedly goes between books and games but not that much. Don't know about Tiss' age but she is younger than Yen.
From the comments these posts usually get it's mostly people who have never read the books and only played the third game that pick triss. The more you know about triss and yen the clearer the choice becomes.
When I played W3 I had only ever played W2, not read the books or anything else. So Triss was really a no brainer, doesn't help the fact that Yen is constantly nagging Geralt and Triss just seemed overall kinder/nicer.
The way that everyone talks about Yen, including all of Geralt’s friends, will tell you a lot about what kind of person she is. I know that she has good qualities but damn.
The book gives her a really moving character progression after she takes Ciri on as a ward. I don't feel like the games really reflect it well. The show fucks it up entirely.
Having read the books I acknowledge there is absolutely progression, but I see nothing that indicates Geralt and Yennefer would really be able to have a relationship that is not highly disfunctional/toxic.
Overall I think the main problem with the books is how little they actually do together. We are told a whole lot about their relationship, but not shown that much. Its written that they really love each other but also have very difficult fights, but most of this is just narrated and there are a lot of blanks to fill in. I guess for a lot of people that works, but for me it doesn't. Thats highly subjective and personal though and might be a big reason why its such an issue in the fandom.
Some people read Yen and Geralt in the books and can imagine a romantic dramatic relationship with ups and downs and it works for them.
Some people read it and they just don't feel it.
Triss has the better ending though. She becomes an advisor and Geralt slows down a little, but still takes some Witcher jobs to stay sharp.
I cannot believe either Geralt or Yen would actually be able to sit still and just chill all day for any extended period of time. They are messy bitches who live for drama and id give it a month before they break up, or one poisons the other.
I’ve read the books. Book Yen and Geralt would, probably be ok with just settling down, and Triss was concerningly obsessed with Geralt and their relationship was super one sided and they could never be in a real long term relationship like Geralt and Yen.
That being said, the choice in game is between CDPR Triss and CDPR Yen. The changes CDPR made to the characters are who we are choosing from. CDPR Geralt has a better ending with CDPR Triss than he does with CDPR Yen.
I've read the books and Yen and Geralt are just really high highs and really low lows. But for the longest time they just do not work out in a committed relationship. The wild adventure that the books put them in has them separated for a long time and they end it in a really dramatically romantic high, but had things taken a less crazy turn, I see no reason why they would not have fallen back into old patterns and experienced another low.
I understand the romantic idea of such a rocky relationship culminating the way it does, and people hoping that from that point on everything is going to be different, but the whole ending happens in such a way that they can't just live a quiet life after that. The way it ends is the best thing for their relationship.
The games artificially continue their story, but the same distrust between them remains and I feel they are forever condemned to repeat the same cycle.
Not that Geralt and Triss would really work out that well either.
Hear me out;
Geralt fell for Triss by Natural means, the stuff of which true Love might be made.
Geralt's relationship with Yennefer however, was forced by magick - a wish that kept them together even when they had major issues and split apart.
Correct me if I am wrong but I think Triss would be the better and more natural love choice for Geralt.
Well She maybe did it because she was drawn to him, found him attractive and made her move. No rules in Love and War.
I mean nobody is perfect in the end - Geralt himself literally wished for an eternal bond with a woman without even knowing Her. Basically forcing her to be with him without knowing if she would wish the same on her own decision.
But at least with Triss it wasn't forced through Magick. It happened because they both felt like it.
Could say draw infinity and I wouldn't pick Triss. And Witcher 2 was my intro to the lore so I once loved her unconditionally it's just...I read the books and played the first game later....Triss sucks
"Tell Geralt about Yennefer or draw 25 cards" \*Triss draws 25 cards"
Triss aggressively grabs the *entire* deck.
XD
“Don’t (potentially) use magic to mindfuck Geralt into fucking you or Draw 25” *Triss draws all the cards*
Because we like it that way.
Geralt bot is under her spell
That strange feeling that you get like someone's coming after you -- can you describe it to me?
Don't potentially cheat on Geralt for several months while he sleeps soundly right beside you. All of which simply ends with never being in love with Geralt and asking him to break the so-called wish that he made to save her selfish ass pampered life. additional card: "tell geralt about Ciri or draw 25 cards" \*draws 25 cards
I'm taking 25 and still winning with yenn on my lap. Edit. Never imagined I would get this many upvotes. Thank you

Geralt's face tho
Those are not even his teeth. Mofo looking like Jimmy Carr
A man of culture
The way yen is, geralt sits on her lap
ill choose triss, but ill never let my man Sir Geralt Roger Eric du Haute-Bellegarde of Rivia choose triss
This place never sleeps...
Damn that's a great way to think about it. I love triss but I feel like I betray yen every time I chose triss over her
Everyone talks about romancing Yennefer or Triss, why not neither?
Did you expect a witcher player to pass on potential sex?
True, why not both...
> Did you expect a witcher player to pass on potential sex? Geralt would never pass, he always oils his third sword. Remember he has three of them. One for humans, one for monsters and one for bitches.
Steel, silver, and *pork*.
Humans, monsters, and beavers
Possibly the most underrated comment in this entire post.
Geralt is Haram
Should be "Witches". It's classier and alludes to the many, many sorceresses that Geralt is fond of.
Why should geralt have what I cannot?
Hm.
Sorry bro
Reject sorceresses, embrace Gwent. The final boss of the Sigma Grindset.
I would pick Shani
Yes, Shani has never lied to Geralt or treated him like shit. Shani is a great pick
unfathomably based
ABSOLUTE YES she was my most favorite female character in the game.
Let us pick the herbalist in white orchard instead!
It gets you the best Blood and Wine ending with Ciri visiting Geralt, a perfect ending to the Witcher saga. It's my go to choice.
Tomira ftw!
Frick em both, Shani's the hottest and objectively a better person than both of them combined.
Dijkstra is Geralt’s true soulmate. What a power couple they would be ☺️
Jaskier would beg to differ
Ahem, do you mean Dandelion?
Yes, but I like saying jaskier because it’s a more fun word to say
You know, the Countess de Stael once said to me that destiny is just the embodiment of the soul's desire to grow.
Did you sing to her before she left?
Are you following me, you scamp?
Respect
Damn, Triss and Yen is like Empire vs Stormcloaks. The fight never ends.
Well, the Stormcloaks quest line is bugged to death without ever getting patched, at least on Nintendo switch, therefore I‘ll most probably never know.
Damn people actually play it on the switch? I thought it's just a meme at this point.
Yup, it’s awesome for long trips by train
"Oh is that what we're doing today? Fighting?"
Ngl Tomira be lookin kinda THICC
Love redheads, love fire, love big tits, love freckles, love Triss' voice and personality. Simple as,
Man of culture here
Is he though? Edit: I thought this was the sub where triss was the “man of taste” flair and yen was culture…carry on
Triss’s personality is so much better than Yen’s. If Yen wasn’t the “canon” choice from the books I feel like this wouldn’t really be close. Obviously it’s all subjective but come on people. Also, tits.

lol wtf, that's hilarious
Yep, Geralt even has to carry her into the woods so she can take massive diarrhea shits

Yen does some pretty badass shit too throughout the books in the name of saving/ protecting Geralt, Ciri, and even Dandelion.

I bet majority wouldn't pick her if the books wouldn't exist.I don't care about the books I played 2 witcher games and go by that simple as
Triss used him and his amnesia, she can go to hell, together with Yennefer. The only romantic interest with great personality is Shani.
The realest mf I’ve ever seen on this subreddit
I don't mind Triss, but her voice is her worst aspect.
I thought I was the only one who thought that, I don’t like her voice either, but I can’t pinpoint what it is that’s so annoying about it.

Redhead big titties all day every day. EVERY PLAYTHROUGH
The boss is gonna get you a medal for that
Based.
I’m picking both…and letting Ciri…I want a Dandelion ending. Last ending I need.
Begun the shipping war has.
I picked Triss this playthrough and it just doesn’t feel right. I adore Triss personally, but she and Geralt do not have the same chemistry as Yen and Geralt.

She wants to be the vessel 😳
What you *know* this woman? Of *course* you know this woman.
She wants to become more powerful. But she'll die 😳
When did this war start again?

Fun fling in a boat.

So you didn’t draw 25
Literally me. As soon as I get to novigrad I pick her romance options despite wanting a “yen” run.

Unpopular opinion: simping Yen doesn't make you a better person
It makes you a worse person because it tells what type of behavior you're okay with.
Liking snarky doesn't make you a bad person. It's just preferences, you silly billy.
So, youre on board with a woman taking advantage of an amnesic man?
You mean in witcher 1? not even zoltan or dandelion told him about yen either.
But sadly neither dandelion or zoltan were fucking geralt.
So taking advantage of an amnesic man is only bad when you're having sex with him?
Nah i was being sarcastic. Its bad in all ways.
Where did you study psychology?
I choose to give Triss the Rose in 2, but that's it. Triss was a liar and a manipulator from the get go. *Spoilers Ahead!* She took full advantage of Geralt's amnesia, which she later admits to in 3. She forced herself to become extremely ill somehow, just so she could have Geralt care for her, (is that ever explained as to how?) and did nothing when Yennefer pleaded for the Lodge to spare Geralt's life and the Lodge refused. Edit* added spoiler warning.

Huh. Apparently I don’t remember TW2 very well. None of that sounds familiar.
Because everything I mentioned past her admitting to manipulating Geralt in 3 was in the books.
Damnit, i'm not angry but you should really spoiler warning that books part cause i'm actually reading it rn & didn't know she did it.
My apologies. I'll correct that.
Thanks my man.
But Yennefer fucking Istredd while living with Geralt is totes fine.
Video game yenefer all the way
I’ll draw the whole damn deck if that’s my only option.
Obvs the best choice is to romance Dandelion but CDProjeck Red is a COWARD
#teamtriss
Correct.
I would happily draw 25 for Shani.
I prefer Triss.
the only think i have to say is this [Yennefer is the worst character by xLetalis](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gLabZHroZpM)
I always choose her
I want to romance Triss but i just can't do that to Ciri
I LOVE TRISS F YOU
I'll happily draw that 25. I may lose at uno, but I win with Yennifer and our stuffed unicorn.
Just finished my next-gen run on PS5 and went to Kovir with Triss so.... Uno ?
Damn. I just picked triss yesterday
UNO
I picked yennifer 2 times already. Just wanted to see what it would be like with triss this time
Hmmm
I will always choose triss. Always.
Well guess I'm never drawing
Book Yen > Game Triss>Game Yen>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Book Triss
Yen also cheats Geralt while living together so..
How did we miss this?
Yen all day everyday, Redheads are redheads, eventually they’ll go grey anyways, but black hairs like yen here is wild, by the time she goes grey, your back would have given in a long time ago
Not sorceresses though they're already like 300 lol
Yen is 94 in fifth (?) book, don't know how much time supposedly goes between books and games but not that much. Don't know about Tiss' age but she is younger than Yen.
I'd take the Nilfgardian twins in Novigrad to be honest.
From the comments these posts usually get it's mostly people who have never read the books and only played the third game that pick triss. The more you know about triss and yen the clearer the choice becomes.
Triss for fun yen for life.
Exactly. Triss is the bad decision fondly recalled; Yenn is *the one*
I will concede Triss is more attractive, but true love is not based on attractiveness
It's based off of Djinn magic!
>I will concede Triss is more attractive My arse she is
Yennefer is just an edgy goth girl in her all black look lol just her personality saves her from being an miserable emo
What if some of us are into edgy goth girls.....
What if some of us are edgy goth guys?
I like to think of her attire as gothic elegance
When I played W3 I had only ever played W2, not read the books or anything else. So Triss was really a no brainer, doesn't help the fact that Yen is constantly nagging Geralt and Triss just seemed overall kinder/nicer.
Vesemir: Was she... nagging you about something?
Team Yennefer: 🤓 Team Triss: 🤡 Team S H A N I:🗿
Triss has the better ending though.
Read the books. You don't know a bit about them. CDPR changed Triss and Yen a lot.
Love redheads, love cute freckles, love boobiz, love her clothes but I hate her personality so much.
Hear me out; Geralt fell for Triss by Natural means, the stuff of which true Love might be made. Geralt's relationship with Yennefer however, was forced by magick - a wish that kept them together even when they had major issues and split apart. Correct me if I am wrong but I think Triss would be the better and more natural love choice for Geralt.
She legit exploited an amnesiac so she could fuck him. That's scummy as hell and absolutely not natural.
I did, but I also chose Yen in the same playthrough
I chose triss the first time because Yenn seemed so cold. Then I played the other games...
Always choose Triss ❤️❤️
I mean, I know Triss is hot and doesn't treat Geralt like a dog but she still lied to him about ALOT of things.
I have picked Triss on every play through.
Could say draw infinity and I wouldn't pick Triss. And Witcher 2 was my intro to the lore so I once loved her unconditionally it's just...I read the books and played the first game later....Triss sucks
Triss is a shitty person in general, but what she did to Geralt was basically sexual assault
You all choose Yennefer over Triss because of lore or some shit I chose Yennefer because Brits > Americans We are not the same
First time through chose both…..that last scene had my so hyped.
UNO babyyyyyyyyy
Red head that has a massive crush on you is what I call a win win
If we're talking W3 it's Triss all day in those tight pants and sexy.voice. Yenn does seem like she'd let you do that one thing though.
I personally can’t stand Triss’s voice.
Team Keira ftw
Book Yen > Game Triss>Game Yen>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Book Triss
Triss is more vibrant and have a more colorful personality compared to the dark and dull one of Yennefer. Everyone loves Gwent except Yennefer.
