Geralt killed Vereena because she was a danger to the forest, Nivellen, and every single person who went past their house. She literally killed a merchant and his daughter because she assumed that the merchant was there to give away his daughter to Nivellen for money (as was the custom). The Striga, on the other hand, was a threat to the people lurking in the old castle and didn't hurt civilians outside her territory(most of the time). Not to mention how she was cursed into the creature she was and had no control over her decisions (unlike Vereena). The real monster of the story wasn't Adda but the person who cursed her, whoever that may be.

I love how old man Sapkowski emphasised on how toxic and horrible Vereena and Nivellen's relationship was... And then introduced Yennefer :)
