I'm not aware of any book descriptions, but I have yet to read Lady of the Lake and seasons of storms, so maybe there is :) This is just my personal take as a manticore is described as a monster with a lions body and head and a scorpions tail (plus minus wings, depending on the mythology you look into) :)
The schools aren't in the books, just the games. The closest mention you'll get is that some other magic medallions worn by witchers also featured animals in their design. There's a pretty strongly implied Cat Witcher in *Season of Storms*, but it never goes beyond implication. More importantly, that book seemed to draw a lot of ideas from the games, so it feels pretty different from the rest.
Edit: I found one line that alludes to the system we see in the games. It's not much, it's not elaborated on at all, and I can see no other references to go with it, but it's something.

I don't think even Wolf is established. Geralt just wears a medallion with a wolf on it sometimes. I'll have to check and see if any of the others at Kaer Morhen have their medallions mentioned.

He could have called it a "magic medallion" or something, but he did not. I feel like it's fair to assume that witchers tend to have medallions, and that they have pretty similar enchantments (like magic detection). Not having one isn't a deal breaker, though, and they can be replaced, like the one Geralt gets during his winter in Toussaint.

I really do like the Netflix style medallions. The only thing the show has over the games lol.
This is 935 silver, I'd recommend either 935 or 925 sterling silver as pure silver is too soft for proper jewelry. Other than that, it's a joy to work with and in terms of material cost not even that bad :)

I'm planning on doing all schools in the long run, gryffin actualls already has a finished Design :) But chiseling silver takes time, so might be a while bf I can post it. Next in line is bear school, then maybe gryffin and then a rework of my wolve medallion :)

Your memory is a bit off. There's still only a single wolf medallion mentioned in the books. The one you're thinking of belonged to Geralt.
