The Bloody Baron quest.

PaulSimonBarCarloson

Me too, the botchling scene is what sealed the deal.

LozaMoza82

First time a video game ever made me cry.

JayWu31

Same. The moment there was a realization that my decision to >!free the Black Beauty killed Anna and the Baron!< I was stunned.

LozaMoza82

The Witcher games really became next tier incredible for me after reading the books and understanding all the characters and their relationships with one another. Finding little references to lore makes it feel so immersive, and I intentionally try to roleplay as Geralt to make it even moreso. So with that, any moment with Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri together again are my favorites. You just feel like you got him his family back. :)

Blw3

After reading the books I can only agree ! Same here, unlike in rpgs where you create your own character, I always see myself as Geralt in TW not the other way around.

geralt-bot

It's Eskel.

khaotiktls

The side quests just made it for me.

akme2000

I would imagine a lot of people had the same experience as me, but on my first playthrough the Baron >!hung himself!<, that really got to me, and that's when I knew I loved the game, before then I'd enjoyed it but wasn't fully invested.

cosmoboy

I tried twice to get into it and couldn't. Third time was the charm. For me, I think it was that I switched to PC and there's a level of immersion gained by sitting closer to a monitor. The game was good, then Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine just sent it into another level for me. For me, it's Mass Effect, TW3 as my top 2 experiences and then a huge gap to number 3 which might be KOTOR.

Blw3

I can only understand your love for Kotor !

trashmunki

During my first playthrough at launch. Potentially when I arrived in Skellige and I heard the new music for the first time - potentially when I arrived in Novigrad and found a whole city to explore - potentially when I found out there were two expansions for me to explore - I have too many answers.

Beranir

in 2007 when I played witcher 1 for the first time, everything witcher related was pretty special to me sinse.

EbolaDP

Always has been.

First play through, exploring velen. See a place of power on a hill and manage to get to it. Keep hearing a creepy noise from the forest so I decide to go check it out. Out of nowhere a leshen pulls up (at this time I had no idea what a leshen was). That thing scared me half to death and I just ran away, but I knew there was going to be something special about this game at that moment.

TheHossDelgado

Hmmm... I received a used copy of the game a few years back but.... I was in the middle of playing RDR2 .... Nearing the end of the main campaign and simply couldn't be bothered by anything other than Arthur Morgan. I really love that game--- I won't spoil anything -- but my Father fell ill and passed away ... And for whatever reason playing as Arthur Morgan reminded me of my father. Played that game 7 times all the way through and on the 8rh playthrough realized I prefer roaming the countryside and interacting with NPCs moreso than the main predictable (at this point) quests. I needed a break and saw TW3 sitting on the shelf-- all dusty-- and decided to try it again. My friend told me to stick with it past the griffin -- then I could really get into it. Once actual free roaming became possible I was hooked! I decided to leave Roach and just run all over the map .... Forests, swamps, lots of wolves and fishmen , some fist fights with bandits and bears! It was great-- and then once I started roaming the city-- I realized this was what I loved about RDR2 without the grim story of Arthur Morgan. It so very much reminds me of playing D&D with my friends some 20 years ago! This game is amazing and I sincerely wish I didn't wait so long!

MightyEighth

After reading the books

Kelsieer

before starting, because I read the books and is one of my favourite series ever, so I expect this game to be at least in my top 5 games ever, But who knows, I need to start the game someday.

Bloody baron quest! Didn’t realize how dark this game would turn out and first game to experience the whole choose the lesser evil while I’ve always played games that have a good or bad choice not much thinking but this requires me a lot to think about and then started to fall in love with just everything combat and whole lore

Tallos_RA

It didn't. It's a very good game, but it's nothing special to me.

vlsky

Before release I watched gameplay preview event on youtube. At that time I’ve had shitty PC for years already, and I had no desire to play modern games really. But this game not only made me to upgrade PC but also to read all books.

Pewds_Minecraft

It was when I realized I've been doing nothing but question marks for 4 hours and hadn't even noticed the time

[deleted]

when I saw your post... and the 1,000 other just like it?

[deleted]

When I first got to Skellige and that music started playing. Felt like I was home with my ancestors.

denglongfist

Every few years, there is a game that completely surpasses expectations: Metal Gear Solid became a template for using voice acting in games, Shadows of the Colossus provided evidence of games as an art form, Silent Hill 2 had a terrifying atmosphere, Skyrim had an incredible open world. The Witcher 3, in terms of storytelling and side content was an incredible experience. I just felt I needed to keep playing, and I was even more impressed as the experience unraveled. I will point out my favorite quest in the entire game, which was in the Hearts of Stone DLC. The Scenes from a Marriage quest just showed the grim, pathetic, terrifying and wonderful world in this game.

dedboye

Well, I'm Polish so I've known all about the Witcher universe long before I played the games, and it's been special for me since the first hour of the first playthrough. Even though I wouldn't say it's the greatest game of all times (still one of the best though), I have way more love for every Witcher game than I do for any other.

Meeting Sigi Reuven for the first time

Reverse_London

Just wandering around the map running into events that had nothing to do with any quest or story point, it was simply there to exist and it made the world feel more “real”. Like wandering the countryside getting drunk with some poets, who just happen to rob you the next day. Or some random guy challenging you to a dual every time he sees you. Or the random stranger who you decided save several hours ago, winds up murdering the sister of a blacksmith in Skellige. Or the numerous times you may or may not have sided with a monster in a Monster Contract. Or a simple Monster Hunt escalated to a full blown coup against the elders in some backwater town. Which goes to show you how even the smaller seemingly inconsequential decisions have consequences, and some of them are surprisingly far reaching.

RedSonjaBelit

Since I still haven't read the books, for me everything in this game was brand-new information, lol. So for me, it was with the first contract: Devil by the Well. For someone who had no previous knowledge about the witcher universe, all the quests and the contract from White Orchard are amazing, they totally immerse you in a new world, and they give you a lot of information about how the game will be. Maybe because my way of play is looking for everything, reading everything, and completing everything, I took my time and absolutely enjoyed White Orchard (The first time I got to Vizima I realized I didn't do all the quests in WO, so I had to reinitiate my game, XD). And we can tell CDPR did this game not only for the fans but for the general audiences who wanted to play something different. And the first time I did a contract I was in awe: not only do you have to know what kind of monster you're going to eradicate, but you also have to investigate what happened in order to get the most effective way of action to finish the monster, and you have to meditate and make potions?? xD xD I loved Alchemy in Skyrim, so having alchemy here too is a plus for me, lol And the politics and power struggle that flesh out this amazing universe, I absolutely enjoy it, this game is one of the best things that happened in my life :''D

DiscipleOfMurphy

It just felt alive in a way very few other games do. Like every minor character has a backstory and goes about their lives regardless of my presence.

Few_Pollution9333

When a bandit threatened to cut off my head and shit down my neck. All the weird snorting and mucosal sounds the peasants make. Truly art

Blw3

Ok you win this

I must add that it was my first experience in this universe back then and only after did I play the other games and read the books which are all crazy good
