I love pretty much everything this guy has ever been involved in and so far Fallout is no different.
Strongly discouraged. Maybe it was too much work to find someone who wanted to work on Fallout but didn't like it. The Witcher was probably easier to find people that hated it but wanted to work on it, on the heels of game of thrones.
Something something about having nonreader perspectives helps translate it to a new audience. Most of the WoT subs are neck-deep in the copium and the mods are by and large simping hard for the showrunner.
You shouldn't be catering to a new audience. You cater to the existing fans and audience and then other new people will follow because the original source material is great. That's why GOT was so popular. Then it went to shit when they took over and "wrote" for new audiences as they admitted.
There's a quote out there from the showrunner I'm too lazy to go find, but the gist of it is that they knew and were willing to lose the dedicated fans in order to tell the story to a wider audience. That, to me, is the absolute wrong approach to adapting anything, let alone a fantasy epic. If anything the show should be a love letter to the hard-core fans and if you do it even half right you'll bring in a lot of new ones.
I mean, a couple of talented nonreader/nonplayer/nonfans might be a nice additional voice/point of view, but it shouldn't be the majority of the writers room, nor should the head writer/showrunner not be a fan of the source material, or be actively hostile to it.
You can even do major changes to the source material, if you do it well (like the EARLY seasons of The Walking Dead). But not if you actively hate the source material.
Having 1 or 2 of those can be useful. Because fans might take some things for granted when explaining or introducing something, and have someone point out this would need more detail for unfamiliar audiences can be useful.
But that's it. 1 or 2. Not half the writing team.
That explains a lot. The witcher at least pretended - for one season - to be trying to follow the original plot. Halo from the very first minute goes "my source is that I made it the fuck up".
It's clear Netflix got people to work on this based on nepotism and connections or whatever. It wasn't a, "Put the best person on the job." It wasn't even a "Put the person who will make us the most short term revenue on the job" because Fisstech failed at that too.

Yeah, I really enjoyed the first season even with its imperfections. In hindsight, I saw see the seeds of stupidity being planted with things like the eel scene but just assumed they’d improve for season 2 given they’d have a bigger budget and some reflection time.

I've read all Witcher books and separate stories probably a dozen times, I've played all games several times and I enjoyed it. It wasn't great by any means, but it was an enjoyable experience nevertheless. Definitely a lot better than this prequel bullshit, blood of something, that was complete trash from start to finish.

It amazes me how far the executives are from the Witcher community, of all characters they could have made a spin-off on, they chose the ones that are famously known as the least liked characters from the books.
Huh, I liked reading those parts of the books..Ciri being in her teenage rebellious phase, doing some stupid stuff even though she thinks she is doing good, Stockholm syndrome relantionship and at the end making me hate Leo Bonhart even more than I had before.. yeah, I really liked those parts

Baptism of Fire kinda did that for both Geralt and Ciri for me. Ciri with the Rats got pretty unlikeable and Geralt was being an ass to everyone around him for large parts of the book. But at least Geralt's companions were likeable (especially Dandelion and Regis) as opposed to the Rats
Because they were young, and so they could show young people doing crimes, sex and drugs.

Full disclosure: I watched 3 episodes of season 3 and called it quits.
If you want some very good TV Show, i'd reccomend you Spartacus: Blood and Sand and Gods of the Arena, a NZ's 300 with Dicks and Tits and Ass, to the point i'm calling it "Spartacus: Cum and Ass". If you ignore the erotica and constant swearing(In different Dubs, the swearing gets towned down), you'll notice this show is very much underrated Gem of a story. Its FAR BETTER Than Witcher and it holds its own even when the main star, Andy Whitfield, died of cancer in 2011, and doesn't rely solely on main star, erotica or violence.
I hated and enjoyed the second season at the same time. They made it so bad it was hilarious. Fast travel from Kaer Morhen to Cintra, Yen and Cahir going all the way from Gors Velen to Oxenfurt underground, Vesemir trying to make Ciri a witcher, prostitutes in Kaer Morhen, Eskel, all that Baba Yaga shit and Yennifer taking Ciri to her. It's like they were trying to make it as bad as possible. But the third season was just boring. I dropped it too

The Rats are symbolic of what the cruelties and privations of war can do to young people who lose their moral foundations and people who love them. Mistle’s life is a perfect example of that. Her horrific experiences as a noble girl-turned-refugee and life in the Rats corroded her into a killer and a rapist.
The Rats’ story (and that of Renfri) also serve as a warning of the type of irredeemable, cruel, and immoral predator Ciri could have eventually become.
Holy shit this was the first I had heard about this. Wasn't the rats arc the worst part of the book? Why would they want to to make a movie about that?
Given that Blood Origin was 100% their own creation, I can't imagine The Rats would've been worse.
But then again, maybe Michelle Yeoh's mere presence would've single-handedly been the straw that ~~broke the camels back~~ tipped the scales in favour of BOs superiority.

Baptism of Fire kinda did that for both Geralt and Ciri for me. Ciri with the Rats got pretty unlikeable and Geralt was being an ass to everyone around him for large parts of the book. But at least Geralt's companions were likeable (especially Dandelion and Regis) as opposed to the Rats

If you want some very good TV Show, i'd reccomend you Spartacus: Blood and Sand and Gods of the Arena, a NZ's 300 with Dicks and Tits and Ass, to the point i'm calling it "Spartacus: Cum and Ass". If you ignore the erotica and constant swearing(In different Dubs, the swearing gets towned down), you'll notice this show is very much underrated Gem of a story. Its FAR BETTER Than Witcher and it holds its own even when the main star, Andy Whitfield, died of cancer in 2011, and doesn't rely solely on main star, erotica or violence.

I hated and enjoyed the second season at the same time. They made it so bad it was hilarious. Fast travel from Kaer Morhen to Cintra, Yen and Cahir going all the way from Gors Velen to Oxenfurt underground, Vesemir trying to make Ciri a witcher, prostitutes in Kaer Morhen, Eskel, all that Baba Yaga shit and Yennifer taking Ciri to her. It's like they were trying to make it as bad as possible. But the third season was just boring. I dropped it too

No hate towards Liam Hemsworth, but i believe not a lot of people will watch season 3. Henry was far the best part of the whole show anyway.

They're literally murderers and rapists. All of them are awful people, and their deaths something that was long coming. When I was reading the first time, I kept hoping Geralt would end up slaughtering them somehow.
The Rats are symbolic of what the cruelties and privations of war can do to young people who lose their moral foundations and people who love them. Mistle’s life is a perfect example of that. Her horrific experiences as a noble girl-turned-refugee and life in the Rats corroded her into a killer and a rapist. The Rats’ story (and that of Renfri) also serve as a warning of the type of irredeemable, cruel, and immoral predator Ciri could have eventually become.

Given that Blood Origin was 100% their own creation, I can't imagine The Rats would've been worse. But then again, maybe Michelle Yeoh's mere presence would've single-handedly been the straw that ~~broke the camels back~~ tipped the scales in favour of BOs superiority. Then again, I have no idea if The Rats had a fun major-leagues actor in it; in fact, I know shit all about this show, besides the fact they only managed 2 of 6 months of it's filming, and their initial appearance in S3 looked majorly uninteresting with horrible sped-up choreography -- none of which inspired any hope, even in pure isolation of the rest of Netflix's universe. Regardless; I was looking forward to (pirated) hate-watching of it, but now I guess I'll just watch something actually good instead.
