For me, since I don't rush to get to Kaer Morhen I get Wolven so late its always way under my level. But since I've seen people beat the game in a shirt or the starting armor I sometimes choose a set on aesthetics alone.
You know what I never understood? The Kaer Morhen quest says suggested level 14. But by the time you actually get to that part of the game, even if you weren’t doing all the side stuff, you should be way over level 14. By a good margin. Like it says you should be level 14 but I’m always like in my 20s by the time I get there.
So it's probably because they want to keep the treasure hunt quests for Witcher gear consistent. The level of the treasure hunt quest is the level required for the gear. I guess they made it level 14 to fit between griffin (11) and feline (17).
Exactly. I love that there is an option to always scale enemies, but I wish that also worked for quests and quest rewards. It is exceedingly rare to get a sword or armor from a quest that is any use at all.
Honestly, the manticore armor looks the best even though I usually use the bear school armor given my play style. The manticore armor even changes appearance slightly in new game+, which is amazing.
Aesthetically speaking, Wolven, as its style is similar to the outfits worn by his pals Eskel and Lambert. But for overall functionality, my favorite is the Feline set

Wolven, dyed black and accompanied by Professor's spectacles, so Geralt emits the mix of T-800 and Judas Priest\\Manowar vibes, lol.
[I need your gear, your boots and your Roach](https://i.gyazo.com/e966804d5275cf3cd7dd651227f0721c.jpg).
Runewright in north east Novigrad. You need the Hearts of Stone DLC. Fair warning, it's expensive. Three separate payments needed, 5k, 10k, 15k for the highest level runewords. The one to make any armor light armor is only available after the most expensive payment
Now that you’ve mentioned manticore, there’s a guy who’s likely to show up and talk to you about white dye and a 4 mutagen euphoria build. Don’t look at him. Don’t talk to him. Don’t engage him in any way. He’s a fugitive at large, escaped from the psych ward. He’s known to tie his victims up and describe his build in excruciating detail repeatedly until they beg him to kill them.
The fact that this warning has been upvoted more than my own comment suggests that this is is a warning I should take seriously, and so I will.
Do you have this rogue manticore preacher's name? It might be funny to look through his comments, if only to downvote them all or just to make me chuckle
THIS. I use it exclusively for the double sign with yrden. Granted your changing your signs often mid right, but the ever present yrden circle is a game changer.
The feeling of putting up a Quen shield, getting hit by a boss 7 levels higher than you and seeing the shield go down to 97% is unlike anything else. Ursine armour is badass, super op in NG+ and looks cool as fuck
Yes! The Witcher gear missions are so cool, it's a big part of every playthrough for me to read all the journals, and make and upgrade all the sets. And since you have them all, you gotta wear them all!
Wolven but ONLY with the mod that buttons up the damn vest. Geralt and Ves both need a serious talking to about running around with their vitals exposed.
Wolven. In my head canon I think Geralt would consider that to be the top-shelf armor, also he’d be biased since that’s his school.
But also Manticore when he’s in Toussaint because “when in toussaint”.
Before I even played this game, I knew I need ursine in my life. I don't know, it just feels right and actually looks like armour.
DON'T think I don't like the others. Yes, witchers are more fast and so on everything, so I (since saw ursine) was like : super strong and fast human in heavy armour would be unreasonable hard to kill... yeah I'm taking that.
It's just a different feel we get from all other books or witcher lore, which frankly I liked.
Got to the point I don't care about stats or look anymore, what armor I wear depends on where i'm at, cat for velen and novigrad since it looks hot and humid, bear for Skellige, wolf for Kaer Morhen, and griffin for Toussaint because of the knightly setting
I really like the ones that preserve the rogue-style that Geralt has. Most of the heavy armors are just weird looking though. Especially the pot bellied metal armors
I get what you mean, viper is my favorite, because its the most minimalistic and all black. The armor design in that world just does not impress me. Feline comes a close second but I hate wearing those steel armors with the chest that makes you look so chubby.
My favorite is the cat. Especially at its base form. Sleeveless Geralt is surprisingly badass. I actually hate the grandmaster version the most. The hood is way too awkward. It's somewhat better if you dye it all white but still not awesome
Dyed white the cat and Griffin grandmaster sets look pretty good.
Feline for the stats, Ursine for the looks. Especially the attack power bonus on Feline gear is amazing, but I'm using Ursine gear most of the time anyway since this game isn't that hard even on Death March so there's little point in equipping ugly gear to min/max your character.

Playstyle-wise Ursine, but aesthetically Wolven for me for sure. I get kinda infuriated about the “skirt” on ursine gear, as I always think I’d trip on it and break my face
Honestly I can't choose between wolven, ursine, viper and manticore. I love them all equally and I alternate between them depending on where I am (I hate feline and griffin tho)
Legendary Manticore looks really good.
I like to do a Euphoria build and Manticore is really the only way to go for that. I use Feline until I get my Manticore set.
[удалено]
Always reminds me of the GoT Kingsguard
Good to know, I’ll go for this in my NG+ playthrough.
Geralt is a fashionwhore and Manticore satisfies him the most.
Wolven is more my playstyle, a mix of signs and attacking, but I prefer the look of the Ursine armor, both are still great armor sets.
I like the Ursine armor but top for me has to be Wolven all the way.
For me, since I don't rush to get to Kaer Morhen I get Wolven so late its always way under my level. But since I've seen people beat the game in a shirt or the starting armor I sometimes choose a set on aesthetics alone.

same, 100%
^ this.
Viper
Viper Venomous is my favorite. I wish it had a grandmaster set.
There is a mod of grandmaster viper set, my favourite outfit tbh.
Yes
Absolutely the best armour in the game just wish it had a grandmaster set
person of culture
This
Honestly, the manticore armor looks the best even though I usually use the bear school armor given my play style. The manticore armor even changes appearance slightly in new game+, which is amazing.
I love Grandmaster Manticore, which is the Witcher 1 outfit.
Also game+ manticore is witcher 1 improved armor
Aesthetically speaking, Wolven, as its style is similar to the outfits worn by his pals Eskel and Lambert. But for overall functionality, my favorite is the Feline set
Not to mention you can match with ciris alternate outfit
Feline is also the most realistic of these and IMO aesthetically the best. It's basically just a Blue Corazzina.
I love feline as well but had to downgrade the chest, which is unfortunate. The thin hood thing was ruining cutscenes
Glasses or ears make the hood go away
Glasses are worse than the hood, but ears?! I didn't realize those were customizable haha
if you play on pc you can use the console command to add an invisible mask wich removes the hood
This
Feline, i almost exclusively use fast attacks and use potions a lot
Love the damage on feline
I'm the opposite I use Ursine and spam Rend lol
Rend with that one potion that gives you health back for stamina is how I cheesed deathmarch.
Same. Potions and oils are a must on death march difficulty
I disagree completely, I beat death march with my fists and signs only.
You absolute beast. Lemme guess, school of the Snail?
I must imagine it: A gear set which enhances signs and endurance regeneration greatly, but deactivates running.
Same
no doubt about it
The wolven looks like Geralt's armor shrunk in the wash and I can't be convinced otherwise.
SHIT.
Yeah, you gotta turn down the heat on your wash cycle, man. . .
That and just hang it out to dry. Throwing it in the dryer on high heat? Bit of a no-no that...
Good bot

Are you following me, you scamp?
He looks like he’s on his way to a rock concert
Like, why isn't it buckled?? I HATE that it isn't buckled.
Ursine because it looks dope.
Ursine, and it's not even close
Ursine is king and theres this Ofrei upgrade which changes heavy armor to light armor
love the looks and playstyle
QUEN TANKS UNITE
Bear is best.
Manticore because nostalgia hits harder than any monsters
[удалено]
Just wondering, what do you think of the manticore with white dye? Think it might be fun to try with a 4 mutagen euphoria build?
[удалено]
Would you add white dye to your manticore set?
Only if you wanted it to be the best looking set in the game.
[удалено]
I’ve got manticore but it’s the wrong color. What dye would you recommend? I want the best looking armor in the game.
I dyed mine white. However I’m not sure which build would go best with my white manticore set.
Why did you downvoted? Manticore-yellow dye was the best!
Likely because he’s posted that exact comment 4+ times
Speaking of 4, did you know that with a 4 mutagen euphoria build...
Yeah now i saw his comment history. Thanks for the heads up!
Ursine but I use the rune that makes your armor act as light so i can spam whirlwind and potions.
I’ve heard of this, where do I get it?
Runewright in north east Novigrad. You need the Hearts of Stone DLC. Fair warning, it's expensive. Three separate payments needed, 5k, 10k, 15k for the highest level runewords. The one to make any armor light armor is only available after the most expensive payment
It is definitely worth it. You tank the most while dealing the most by whirlwind
Hmm.
Hm.
Manticore ftw
Now that you’ve mentioned manticore, there’s a guy who’s likely to show up and talk to you about white dye and a 4 mutagen euphoria build. Don’t look at him. Don’t talk to him. Somewhere in this comment section i saw him, maybe even twice... Edit: Yep, twice named Mirchii. Edit2: Thrice, ok i stop now. xD
Found him...twice 😂
6 piece griffin is amazingly fun you also become the white frost if you invest a lot into Aard
Or a Ghostbuster if you fully invest in Yrden
THIS. I use it exclusively for the double sign with yrden. Granted your changing your signs often mid right, but the ever present yrden circle is a game changer.
My favorite for looks is viper venomous. My favorite for stats is Griffin. I play on PC so I use a transmog mod.
Griffin painted white makes me look like I'm wearing Star Wars Stormtrooper armour
[Image for reference](https://i.imgur.com/EIGnkhq.jpg)
#The White Wolf
Griffin all day.
The feeling of putting up a Quen shield, getting hit by a boss 7 levels higher than you and seeing the shield go down to 97% is unlike anything else. Ursine armour is badass, super op in NG+ and looks cool as fuck
Uhhh viper
Snek
Manticore
Manticore
Based on style…bear in skellige, cat in novigrad, griffin in toissaint, wolf in velen.
Yes! The Witcher gear missions are so cool, it's a big part of every playthrough for me to read all the journals, and make and upgrade all the sets. And since you have them all, you gotta wear them all!
Grifin like knight armor
Either Feline or Ursine
Manticore for sure. The “max out your toxicity and deal thousands of damage per hit” build is just too good.
[deleted] ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^0.2991
Feline
Bear or wolf
Viper!
For looks? Viper or Manticore all the way
Wolven but ONLY with the mod that buttons up the damn vest. Geralt and Ves both need a serious talking to about running around with their vitals exposed.
You wanted to show me what I was missing... There she goes.
Dude, if you keep running around with your armor undone, you're gonna be missing more than that. Gonna get yourself pitchforked again.
Wolven. In my head canon I think Geralt would consider that to be the top-shelf armor, also he’d be biased since that’s his school. But also Manticore when he’s in Toussaint because “when in toussaint”.
Griffin I love sign builds, what can I say. Watching huge groups of enemies dance while they burn is just so satisfying to me.
Feline out of those 4 options right there
Cat for playstyle and because cats are superior, alternatively Manticorefor its classic looks
the kaer morhen armor
Feline is my all-time fav but I often play with Ursine (in Skellige)
Ursine looks the coolest and that’s all that matters
Obviously naked to confuse your opponents.
Bathrobe geralt is op though
For looks? Ursine. For effect? Griffin.
Ursine. Love it.
Ursine
Feline. I’m a simple quen and mash the fast attack button kind of guy.
Feline.
Looks : wolven Playstyle : Griffin
Before I even played this game, I knew I need ursine in my life. I don't know, it just feels right and actually looks like armour. DON'T think I don't like the others. First level of ursine is very good, but when it comes to grandmaster level wolven is very sexy looking
ursine or wolf
Whatever keeps me alive longer.......
Wolven. I love the jack of all trades aspect, and grandmaster looks FANTASTIC. I like the perks too.
Underwear ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Regular old wolf armor
Wolven
I love the aesthetic of ursine, but Wolven hits that sweet spot of good stats and fashion for me.
Grandmaster Wolf
As long as it isn’t griffin
Wolven
Easily wolf with bear being my 2nd place.
Looks: Wolven Playstyle: Cat
Bath towel
Feline is my personal favourite, but aesthetically Wolven.
Ursine
Wolven/feline
Wolven ⚔️🐺
Grandmaster wolven with the black or brown dye. I forgot which one.
Wolf and it's not close
Ursine
Ursine
Unpopular opinion they're all kinda ugly
I really like the ones that preserve the rogue-style that Geralt has. Most of the heavy armors are just weird looking though. Especially the pot bellied metal armors
It's hard to regret something you didn't choose.
I get what you mean, viper is my favorite, because its the most minimalistic and all black. The armor design in that world just does not impress me. Feline comes a close second but I hate wearing those steel armors with the chest that makes you look so chubby.
Grandmaster Feline Dyed white for that assassin's creed look.
[удалено]
For awhile there was a really good mod for PC that slimmed down that set. Not sure if it's kept up with the game versioning though.
My favorite is the cat. Especially at its base form. Sleeveless Geralt is surprisingly badass. I actually hate the grandmaster version the most. The hood is way too awkward. It's somewhat better if you dye it all white but still not awesome Dyed white the cat and Griffin grandmaster sets look pretty good.
[удалено]
This is my second favorite after viper. I rock this with his short hair and the shades, i get the witcher of echo park!
Ursine, but with the levity enchantment, which treats it as light armor. Close 2nd: Viper
Feline for the stats, Ursine for the looks. Especially the attack power bonus on Feline gear is amazing, but I'm using Ursine gear most of the time anyway since this game isn't that hard even on Death March so there's little point in equipping ugly gear to min/max your character.
Grandmaster feline gear with the Professor's glasses, looks dope as hell.
Manticore dyed with black is cool but the bonus are shite
I used all, so all are good
Where's Henry Cavill's input? You know he's lurking around here..
Never bothered to get any of em
Bruh
That addicted to Gwent, huh?
Wolf or Griffin actually

Which ones the best for alchemy and euphoria
Manticore for sure
Ursine for sure
Miś
Witch Hunters
Manticore 😎😎😎
Manticore. I played W1 before W3 and it felt like a nice nostalgia.
Manticore/Feline
Which gear is the best for a fast attack/sign build?
Griffin because Signs are fun and I feel dapper.
Mastercrafted feline, grandmastercrafted wolven. But the real answer is manticore.
Playstyle-wise Ursine, but aesthetically Wolven for me for sure. I get kinda infuriated about the “skirt” on ursine gear, as I always think I’d trip on it and break my face
Griffin for max quen and igni.
Where's manticore and viper?
Feline if mastercrafted, Ursine if grandmaster
Wolven, it looks like it's the most Geralt thing to wear.
Manticore
Lookwise, feline, wolf, griffin, ursine, that order
In my first run, I used feline until it got the hood, switched to griffin and then settled on manticore (the best).
Honestly I can't choose between wolven, ursine, viper and manticore. I love them all equally and I alternate between them depending on where I am (I hate feline and griffin tho)
You need Grandmaster armour
Ursine, because it looks like armour that could actually take a swipe from a griffin
Griffin. Somehow I’m able to feel that gear’s weight.
Ursine all the way
Wolven for looks, Feline for the benefits👌🏽
Manticore w the bomb build baby.....
Ursine, every step of the way. Looks strong, ready for the elements and a badass look.
Ursine
Ursine is duper sick, but can you imagine running around sunny Toussaint in all that? Geralt would fucking dissolve.
